ذات يوم شرحوا لنا في المدرسة يا ابي شيئاً عن التعود ، وهو حين نشم رائحة تضايقنا فإن جملتنا العصبية كلها تتنبه وتعبر عن ضيقها ، وبعد حين من البقاء مع الرائحة يخف الضيق ، أتعرفُ معنى ذلك يا أبي ؟ معناه أن هناك شعيرات حساسة في مجرى الشم قد الفت ذلك ، أو ماتت فلم تعد تتحسس ، ومن ثم لم تعد تنبه الجملة العصبية ، والأمر ذاته في السمع ، حين تمر في سوق النحاسين فان الضجة تثير أعصابك ولكن لو أقمتَ هناك لتعودت مثلما يتعود المقيمون والنحاسون أنفسهم ، السبب نفسه أن الشعيرات والأعصاب الحساسة في الإذن قد ماتت “ ، ” ونحن يا أبي لا نتعود إلا إذا مات فينا شيء “ . فكم مات فينا حتى نصبح هكذا. وتصور حجم ما مات فينا حتى تعودنا علي كل ما يجري حولنا!
