masque of sapphire by deana james violence mention.
“it’s the fog. it plays tricks on you.”
“can you eat it yourself?”
“i’ve brought you some nice hot tea.”
“let me help you back to bed.”
“you’ll hurt yourself.”
“it’ll help to bring the fever down.”
“finish your breakfast.”
“forget about all that.”
“cry if you want to. you’ll feel better.”
“lie back now and go to sleep.”
“and you have to accept help from me. because you really have no alternative.”
“now, baby, tell me what’s bothering you.”
“don’t bother about me.”
“yes, sweetheart, you’re very hot, but we’re going to get you cool.”
“you saved my life.”
“put your arms around my neck.”
“you look so happy.”
“don’t forget your manners.”
“my head aches something fierce.”
“i can’t remember when we’ve had a cold spell this long.”
“we have to move you now, sweetheart.”
“get out of here.”
“you’ll open your wound.”
“what is love?”
“you’ve got a lot of forgiving and forgetting to do, baby.”
“no sarcasm, please.”
“this way you’ve lost only two days. three at the most.”
“you can’t expect to be strong if you don’t eat.”
“you’re lying. why are you lying?”
“stop tearing yourself to pieces.”
“i am not, and you can’t make me.”
“but what about the fever and the chills?”
“you were a child.”
“and you’ve been taking care of me?”
“you weren’t thinking of your reputation when you got into that fight.”
“how terrible for you. how frightened you must have been.”
“welcome to your new home, baby.”
“oh, how horrible.”
“when this is over, you’re going to eat every one of those words.”
“it was a stupid, stupid thing.”
“you’re somewhat the worse for wear.”
“just about as hard as anything could possibly be.”
“how kind of you to remember after all these years.”
CLOSE SHAVES
that moment where you nearly die, and someone saves you. tw for death applies.
the saved.
‘ i thought that I was going to die. ’
‘ woah! lucky you were there, huh? ’
‘ what – what happened? i don’t remember anything after __. ’
‘ i’m sorry you had to deal with that. it must have been really scary for you.’
‘ thank you for saving my life just then! i really thought that was it for me! ’
‘ why are you – looking so terrified? what happened to me? ’
‘ what do you mean, i stopped breathing for a moment there? ’
‘ that was really scary! thanks for doing what you did for me. ’
‘ you just – caught me! i was falling so far and then you just –! ’
‘ you – you saved me. i didn’t even think you’d come for me. ’
the savior.
‘ it’s alright, I’ve got you. i’ve got you, and you’re safe now. ’
‘ come on, keep your eyes open! don’t go to sleep on me! ’
‘ woah, i don’t know how i even caught you! ’
‘ there you are! i’m so happy you’re awake! ’
‘ breathe, please! just breathe! ’
‘ hey, are you with me? thought I’d lost you for a second there. ’
‘ i won’t let anything happen to you ever again. ’
‘ you have to come back to me! come on, i can’t do this without you! ’
‘ it’s alright, i’ll keep you safe. they won’t be able to hurt you any more.’
‘ just wake up, please! i’ll do anything! ’
bonus: the immortal.
‘ i really don’t need to get any medical attention. honestly, i’m feeling better already. ’
‘ oh, i died again? neat. how did it happen this time? ’
‘ what do you mean, you think you died again? ’
‘ yeah, you technically didn’t have to do that, but thanks i guess. ’
‘ well, i don’t know what to say. i’m clearly not dead, so you must have been mistaken. ’
‘ you didn’t have a pulse! how in hell are you already standing?! ’
‘ i think i’d better try to explain. just – uh – try not to scream, or anything. ’
‘ i need an explanation and i need it now, thank you. ’
‘ actually, i’m ___ years old, and this is about the ___ th time i’ve died. ’
‘ i – can’t actually die. no, really, i can’t. i’m immortal. ’
@incubabe (starter call)
Everywhere she went, Illua felt others’ eyes on her. Their hollow gazes tracked her with each step she took, but it was all meaningless. Of course she’s draw their attention. She was the hero of this tale, wasn’t she? It was only right for them to recognize that. When she turned her gaze towards them, they would not meet her eyes; they were afraid. They were right to fear her.
At least... most of them seemed to. All save for one: a woman, innocuous as any other. Attractive, sure, but what did it matter? Nothing else about her stood out. Nothing else about her mattered. Once she was out of Illua’s eyesight, even that would be irrelevant.
“Do you want something?” Her voice was cold, gaze equally icy. “I’m a busy woman. Make this quick.”
Oh, That‘s a Starter Call!
Well, I might as well go ahead and put up a starter call. Why not, y’know? Go ahead and drop a like and I’ll write something to kick off interaction. It’ll probably be short.
