Oh melee weapons being preferred (and most viable) when it comes to handling Grim is like SUPER interesting actually. Are there varying types of preferences when it comes to what type of melee weapon or is the sword truly king?

Like if someone wanted to use a lance, pike, halberd, or really just some sort of polearm would that be viable? or maybe even people (sadists???) who wanna get up close and personal opting for daggers and or claw type weapons. How viable would those be? LMAO WOULD A PICKAXE WORK???

The idea of someone having some sort of mining motif around fighting Grim is really, really funny to me 💀

I have said this like a million times at this point but once again, I am so incredibly sorry for the absurdly long time I took to answer this. I didn't have time to draw new art for this so I'm reusing art from the Masterpost, my bad for that too 😭

Firstly, thank you!! I'm really glad you like the idea 😭❤️ to answer your question, yes there are, swords are common but so are spears and scythes. Swords also aren't limited to rapiers like the one Eiko has, there are multiple kinds, I just haven't illustrated them lol

And yes weapons like pikes and lances and polearms are absolutely viable and I'd say also even somewhat common. Daggers and similar weapons are technically also options but I feel like they'd be rarer, since as you said they're a bit riskier since you'd have to get up close to a grim, but I feel like they could be really useful depending on the situation (and yeah sometimes there's just a sadist LMAO) oh and sickles are an option too (Sanako's future weapon is one!)

As for the pickaxe, I'll admit it isn't an idea I've considered but the concept of a mining-themed agent is both hilarious and lowkey cool LMAO I actually think mixing the PCD agent uniform with a miner look could make a neat design

And you know what, a grim could very well bind itself to a boulder or rock or something and I don't see a sword or spear working nearly as well as a pickaxe would in that situation ahsjfkshkb
