The 2020 KHR Big Bang has been cancelled due to a lack of responses from participants. Thanks for everyone who signed up at the beginning of this year, and to the few who stuck around and met every single check in—we love and appreciate you.

Please refer to our most recent email for process and deadlines of the check-ins. In summary, deadline is the 15TH OF DECEMBER and we expect to hear from you every two weeks between now and then. Steady progress is not necessary.

We’ve sent out emails to all our artists asking if you are still interested in participating given the length of time since we’ve last checked in with you. Please reply to our email before the 30TH OF SEPTEMBER so we can let you know whether we need you to change your pairings because some writers have dropped out.

Hello! Yes, this event is still ongoing.

We’ve been receiving the check-ins; we decided not to reply to them because there’s too many to individually respond to. Again, it falls into the same line of why check-ins are autonomous—there’s more participants than there are mods. It’d be too much for us to chase up everyone who has yet to meet a deadline.

We are marking down everyone who is still participating, and with every email that comes through, we update the spreadsheet and progress accordingly.

Unless otherwise stated, the Big Bang is still happening. So, keep sending in those check-ins!

UPDATE

Writers—just a reminder that you are supposed to be completing your check-ins every two weeks; though this doesn’t have to be exactly every 14 days.

You should not be waiting for us to remind you to check in, as this should be autonomous on your part and shows your willingness to participate in this big bang.

We also never expect you to make steady progress—all we care about during these check-ins is that you are showing us that you are still around.

Artists—we have also sent out an email to a few of you asking you to re-choose your summaries as your previous collaborator has dropped out. Please email us back before the 25TH OF MAY if you haven’t already.

Also a note, we have gotten rid of the Discord server, and any and all necessary information will be sent to you primarily via email, and this tumblr.

WRITERS update

Writers―start your check-ins!

Think of it as a very lax progress report. We just want to hear from you every two or so weeks so we know that you haven’t ghosted the big bang. A check-in counts as you emailing us your current word count every fortnight.

Please don’t feel pressured with making consistent progress every time you check-in. It’s more important that you’re proving that you’re active and still interested, rather than upping your word count.

Your first check-in is today/the remainder of this week!

The draft of the fic is due on the 22ND OF AUGUST. They will then be sent to your editor.

If you have completed your fic before the 22nd, let us know and we’ll send off the draft to your editor early. This will give you more time to chat with your editor so you can make necessary changes and/or adjustments if needed.

Summaries have now been sent out to both artists and editors. Using a first come, first serve basis, artists and editors will choose the fic they want to work on. Message or email us your choices. Do not use the discord server.

You have until the 28TH OF APRIL to choose which fic you want. If we do not hear back from you, we will contact backups as needed.

Artist signups are now closed! Thank you to all the artists that have applied to join the big bang. We will send out writer summaries by tomorrow.

A reminder that applications for editors are still opened so please apply if you have the chance.

If you’ve missed your chance at joining the 2020 big bang, we are hoping to run this next year so stay tuned and feel free to follow for updates. Hopefully the influx of content will encourage more applicants in 2021!!

Hi do y'all mind me asking how many participants y'all have total for writers and artists? Also y'all may want to post updates to the discord as well. I'm an artist, but had I been a writer I wouldn't have known about submitting summaries since I check Tumblr sparsely. Just a suggestion. Keep up the good work!

Hey there! We currently have 18 participants altogether, including artists, editors, and writers.

We’ve already emailed all the relevant participants (i.e. the writers) the summary form that they have to submit to us. Seeing as you aren’t a writer, you wouldn’t have gotten an email from us but thanks for your concern anyway.As we mentioned in the rules, our preferred method of contact is through email as we’re already aware that tumblr/twitter is not always checked upon.

We’ve also opted to not include important announcements in our discord because the server has always been optional and not everyone has joined (since not everyone is comfortable with large group chats—including both your dumb mods, hAH).

We would like signups from people that haven’t already joined the big bang as we want to get as many people from the fandom involved as possible. Even if you don’t have enough time to dedicate to writing, please reblog to spread the word!

Is there a min/max word count for the fic summary?

Hello! The summary is more like a form, asking you for all the details that a reader would need (ratings, warnings, pairings, etc.). The only part with a word count would be an optional snippet of your story, which is set at a max of 250 words.

As we mentioned in the emails, we will provide you with more information closer to the 15th!
