I've been having a Not Very Good time, but I've been unable to cry unless (???) forced (????) For literal years. So, the blorbies get subjected to the feelings I can't feel. Sorry Marshall. But I gave you my emotional repression issues for a reason. 🫵

(Including the plain lines because I almost prefer the look of them over the colored version... hmm...)

ANYWAY. LORE. Again, this is Adam's dad (who I have now named. His name is Idris.) And he's someone who, despite being an older male figure in his life, Marshall feels comforted by instead of scared of.

He's a teacher who works with young-ish kids and teenagers, so he's kinda habitually nurturing and gentle and picks up on emotions like blood in the water. The man raised(/is raising) four children. He knows things. It also does not help that Marshall is around his eldest daughter's age :'>

Badically: Hyper-masculine, misogynistic household raised man meets his friend's loving father. Explodes. Dies. Horrible disaster. Very scary.

(Also yeesss, that is a bit of vitiligo on the back of Idris' hand! I've envisioned him with it since he popped into my head 🐶💭)

Bailey Property 🍎🍁🌾🍂

Chickens, sheep, cows, and horses. A few barn cats scampering about and lounging in the haylofts.

Crickets, bees, wasps, and all sorts of other insects buzzing, chirping, and chittering throughout the day. Dragonflies coming to visit from the nearby lake and wild ducks flying overhead.

The clatter of dishes, the smell of home cooking, and freshly baked goods. Warm spices in the air and fresh coffee on the stove. Mud, rain, grass, and that distinctly animal scent clinging to everything.

Warm summer evenings spent outside, watching the fireflies, and cold winter ones curled up in front of the fireplace with a cup of tea.

Everyone helps, everyone works, and everyone makes the load a little easier for each other.

Bright, warm, cluttered, and welcoming. Smelling of incense, spices, and home cooking.

Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Led Zeppelin, The Mamas & The Papas .... music always playing somewhere. Usually, with someone singing along.

The clicking of hair jewelry in long braids. The chime of sun-catchers in the windows and beaded curtains in the doorways.

Thrifted and DIY furniture and decor. Family photos on the wall. Handcrafted trinkets.

Adam's dad !! (Just a concept for now)

Who is relevant to the agere component of this universe/story because I've decided he'll become Marshall's father figure.

Because Marsh is terrified of his father. Always has been. It's grown into hatred the older he's gotten, but just being in that man's presence makes him regress in a way that's deeply triggering and unfun.

So then there's this guy... who's the absolute polar opposite of everything Marshall knows a father to be. Attentive, cheerful, sober, loving towards his family... Marsh is in genuine disbelief that a man can even be like this. Because it's everything he was taught not to be.

And, as time goes on and he gets closer with Adam and his family, he finds himself incredibly comforted by that presence. By that genuinely *positive* masculine influence.

~Regressor who starts to feel off days before they actually get sick. Maybe their caregiver notices it before they do. Maybe no one does and they simply power through. Perhaps they start regressing a lot right before they get ill

~Regressor’s who can’t actually regress when sick. Everything feels icky and bad and weird and they knowing being small won’t help so they won’t even bother

~Regressor’s who are perma regressed the whole time they are sick. Baby brain with a fever and sniffles

~Regression that makes illness worse because everything feels so out of control (especially if they don’t have a caregiver, or their caregiver can’t be there for a certain reason)

~Childhood sick foods <3 These can be a comfort (My mom used to always make me toast with butter and cinnamon sugar whenever I got over being sick) or something that brings up poor memories of just being sick (I still can’t eat lypton soup without feeling sickness on my tongue I swear-)

<- You can make this so very oddly specific. Regressor who won’t eat chicken noodle soup specifically with saltine crackers cause that is sick food. Without the crackers and it’s just fine, etc.

~Little and Caregiver playing video games for in bed days, reading books together, catching up on that one slightly cozy tv show they’ve been meaning to finish

~Feeling to sick to use a pacifier

~Not wanting to touch anything because it feels like contamination

~Milk bottles being replaced with hot tea and cold water

~Character who think they are getting better/ fully healed, only to try and act normal and realize that nope they're still sick, or just too worn out to be completely normal
