“Hey Oliver! How are you holding up?”
- @viltrumiteender
“HAHA! Hey, Mark!!!.. I’ve been holding up as best as I can..” Oliver smiled. “Thing’s have been pretty slow. Just playin’ video games for the most part; Been replaying pokemon as of recent.”
// sorry it took me a couple days to get to this, bahaha !!!
“ I assume you weren’t swatted by bad guys then. “ Mark’s lips also curled into a smile while he kept a close eye on his brother. “ How far have you gotten into Pokemon? I used to love collecting those cards back then. “
// NO WORRIES!! Took me a while to get it too. lol
“eh, .. I’m not that far unfortunately. Just started from the beginning.” He nodded. “and nah, no bad guys. Raises a lot of suspicion now that I think about it; but hey, enjoying the free time while I can.” he, smirked— almost as if lazing around not doing any hero work was probably the best thing ever. “Nooo way.. you? Collecting pokemon cards?” He said, almost sarcastically. “What a nerd this guy is.” He playfully teased.
“ You always enjoy time off, I don’t want to see you become lazy in the future. “ A chuckle came from Mark when Oliver teased him, a playful lilt in his eyes. “ You weren’t born in the time I was, you’re practically still a baby in this time period. “ He teased back, shoving him teasingly without any actual attempt of hurting him. “ You had the luck of getting your powers early when you were a kid. While I had the freedom of being a ‘nerd.’ “
“Haha, real funny.” another jab of sarcasm. “I’m not even a baby anymore, barely a kid… I’m…” he cleared his throat and attempted to deepen his voice; “a man..”; but with him still going through puberty his voice cracked pretty harshly.
Embarrassment washed over him but he completely brushed it off. “Anyway; whatever! Just cause I’m growin’ up fast doesn’t mean I can’t indulge too.” he smirked. “Plus, I’m not going to become lazy, Mark. Trussssst me. I’ll at least do some training.. sometime…. soon.” the pauses in his tone were almost like he wasn’t prepared or doing training at all before.
Mark laughed even harder, his smile unwavering while he his attempt of being manly failed miserably. “ You are pretty terrible for a man,” He teased, his voice becoming deeper as he mocked him, “You don’t see me running to play videogames the minute I get home.”
He noted the embarassment and the change of subject, the playful look in his eyes remaining. “ Sometime soon? You know, when I first got my powers, Dad would wake me up at 6 in the morning for training. “ He spoke, the way he paused making his smile widen by a inch. “ Maybe I should wake you up early and set a routine. “
“Whatever, dude.” he half laughed and rolled his eyes. “Just cus YOU got boring—” he said pointing a finger at him. “— doesn’t mean I have to be, okay? okay.” he then pointed at himself, almost as if he took pride in the fact playing video games took up the majority of his time.
His expression lit up when training was brought up; almost if he realized in that moment maybe routine was all he needed. Even if things have been pretty slow; a nice schedule would keep him prepared if anything did happen.
“Wait… would you really?” he asked, he was practically bouncing in place. Even though he has grown nothing much about him has changed. “I mean I’m already pretty goated with my powers n’ all.. but y’know.. it wouldn’t hurt.”
“ Boring? Me ? “ He staggered backward dramatically, bringing his hand up to his chest and clenching his fist over his heart. “ I am deeply offended, Oliver. Punched a massive hole, right here. “ He pressed his index finger against his chest—flicking him teasingly like a bug.
His eyebrows quirked in slight surprise at Oliver’s excitement, his arms crossing over his chest. “ I’m kinda surprised you’re interested in something other than your games, nowadays you’re too glued to that screen. “ He teased, before his voice came down more serious than intended. “ Yeah, we’d train when the sky nears sunrise, test your strength, endurance, whatever, “ He waved a hand to the side, before continuing. “ Then we could push your limits and focus on your weaknesses and improve them.“
Mark watched Oliver practically jump with excitement through his shining face, a genuine smile crossing his lips. “ Pretty goated, huh? “ He put his hands on his hips, his head lowering slightly. “ Show me what you got. “
// I GENUINELY THOUGHT I POSTED THIS SORRY 😭
When Mark flicked him, he dismissively swatted his hand away. “Yeah, yeah yeah whatever.” he rolled his eyes.
“AWESOME!” he grinned. “Just promise not to go too hard on me?” Oliver asked, his voice strained a bit— a complete shift in his tone. “Okay, It’s been a little while since I’ve trained.” He then started to bounce from side to side; as if readying himself. “And I trained with some weird varient of you once. Ruthless guy.” he said, completely brushing it off.
“Okay! okay okay.. I’ve mostly been working on trying to control my strength and the amount of applied force I use. I know you and mom get weird about well— killing— so.. Okay okay.” He stood in front of Mark, and grinned. “How’s this?” he clenches his fist before delivering a ‘soft’ blow to Mark’s chest.
There was a bit of added force. It wasn’t enough to cause any bodily harm to Mark, anyway.
// LOL ITS OKAY !!! No worries !!!! 😭💜
“ You tell that to all the bad guys you fight ? “ He smiled cockily, though the smile was long lasted whenever mentioned the other variant of Mark, a flicker of genuine concern on his face. “ Another me ? Wait- “
The punch knocked the breath out of him and shot Mark a few inches backwards—not enough to completely make him stumble, but enough to make him lose balance. “ Good! Good… “ He put one of his hands up to his chest before standing up straight, catching his breath. “ That was a good punch , not too bad. “
He praised while the punch and Oliver speaking of the other version of him which caught him offguard. He raised his fists, clenching them with a loose, but firm enough to wield some of his strength. “ Knocked the breath outta me. “ His heel slightly dug into the ground, before asking, “ When were you gonna tell me you trained with another me ? “
He didn’t swing yet, letting his question sink in.
“I know, I know. I’m totally awesome.” he wrung his wrist, before looking at Mark. “Yeah. Another you. It was freaky weird.” He wiggled his fingers to emphasize how ‘freaky weird’ the previous interaction was. He shrugged.
“I mean I didn’t think it was too big of a deal. Sure; he almost crushed my skull, among other things.” he waved it off as if it were nothing. “ Unlike you— he told me not to hold back. That killing was effective.” He thought for a moment. “And, I mean he still cared about me to some extent.. if that counts for anything.” He tried to explain it the best way he could.
“He wore- well obviously the same suit as you but it was yellow and black I think. He had a cape too.” He tapped his chin, thinking. “I mean I didn’t think I had to tell you pretty sure he might be gone now.” Oliver shrugged.
“Wanna see how hard I can kick?” he asked, in attempt to shift the conversation elsewhere. It seemed as if he didn’t want to talk about it— even if he was the one to bring it up.
Mark seemed paralyzed by the way Oliver spoke carelessly about nearly being killed by another version of him. Despite his brother’s lack of concern about what happened;he was the complete opposite.
He was quiet for a long moment, unable to respond while he processed his explanation: “unlike you. “ yellow and black costume, and the fact that he influenced his own universe’s twisted mindset to his brother. Through clenched teeth he finally spoke.
“ What’d mom and I tell you about keeping secrets ? “ His voice was abnormally calm despite the way his mind spun like a carousel. “ Especially if you were in danger . “ His fists clenched and his eyebrows furrowed.
He gave Oliver a hard glare, his eyes narrowing in response to Oliver’s attempt of switching the topic.
“Look, I didn’t think it was a big deal, okay?” he held his arms out wide. “Besides, I talked to dad about it already.” He shrugged. “I trained with the guy once. That’s it. I wasn’t in any danger, and he didn’t even kill me.”
“I’m still alive aren’t I?” he asked, rhetorically before gently pushing off the ground and hovering over toward Mark. “I handled it, dude. Promise.” He had a weary smile on his face. Oliver knew Mark was new levels of pissed off with him for not saying anything before.
“and guess what? If next time he comes I’ll be fully prepared and won’t almost get myself killed. Cause you’ll train me.” he put his hands on his hips. “And I’ll be able to take him on. For real.”
“ Didn’t think it was a big deal ??— Talked to Dad about it?! “ Mark seemed to get progressively more furious when Oliver continued to treat the situation as if it were nothing, the way he spoke so carelessly scared him in so many ways it made him feel physically ill.
He didn’t know what to say—he didn’t want to lecture him, he knew he could handle himself; but there was a lingering sense of dread that wanted to eat him alive. He sighed at last, one of his hands coming up to rub his temples, shutting his eyes.
“ What if one day , you don’t come home ‘okay’ , thats a big deal . “ He started, reopening his eyes and watching Oliver fly over to him. “ Especially since most of them aren’t the actual ‘ me ‘ you know, like the one you described. “
He craned his neck slightly to look at Oliver, the stern expression still remaining on his face. “ I don’t want you to handle bad guys alone, since you don’t have the same strength I do,” His eyebrows drooped slightly. “ Not yet, atleast. “
Oliver shook his head. “Look.. Mark. I’m sorry for not telling you before.” He didn’t like, nor could he really stand Mark being upset with him. “I know I should’ve come to you first.”
“Dad told me to, y’know.. be careful when dealing with your varients. Especially.. him. At the time, in that moment..” he let himself land on the ground. “I tried to compromise and convince myself that; maybe to a degree.. Somewhere in his mind, you’d be there. ” he thought. He had no idea if he were making any sense.
“I mean, I know he’s not you; but..” he trailed off, shaking his head- changing the subject again. “Hey, hey! I’m just as strong as you, I was merely repressing my strength on that first punch!” He took a few jabs at the air. “I promise you, I can throw down if I really tried.” he flexed his arms cockily.
Mark seemed to drop the angry act easily whenever Oliver apologized, despite wanting to be angry at him—he was just trying to find the good in the bad, just like he did in their father.
“ It’s okay, “ He nodded to the side while watching him land, his fingers seeming to fall flatly his sides. “ When the moment comes, don’t make the mistake of trusting the wrong guy. “ Mark took a deep breath, exhaling the rest of the dread in him before refocusing on training.
“ Don’t get ahead of yourself, “ He joked through a steady gaze, “ I’ll tell Mom about the encounter if you can’t beat me. “ He half-joked, his hands coming up into a defensive position again, taking a fighting stance.
“ If you love Pokemon so much, you better hope you’ll beat me. “
“Aw WHAT ? C’mon Mark. If you tell mom she’ll ground me, then bury me alive, dig me back up then ground me again.” he exclaimed, voice cracking. Oliver exhaled and took a step back as he watched his brother get into defense. “and then she’ll BURY me alive, AGAIN if she knew I was talking to dad.”
Oliver slouched over, and groaned. “Fine, fine. Put my beloved video games on the line.”
“You’re so on.” he swiped his nose with his thumb and grinned before, boosting himself off the ground to gain momentum— the terrain under him began to cave in on itself after the impact. He attempted to try and tackle Mark as best as he could.
Mark seemed to let out a slight chuckle at his exaggeration, steadying his posture and giving him a mocking look. " I wasn't the one showing off to the other me! " He watched him slouch then boost himself off the ground, zooming toward him. Mark braced for impact, allowing Oliver to tackle him--the two tumbling over the grass dramatically. He attempted to use his knee to kick him off of him, while teasing. " I'll get her to ground you till you die if you don't win! "
Mark successfully knee’d him in the stomach sending Oliver flying over Mark’s head and landing with a hard ‘THUD’ on his back. “Ouf- nuhuh!” He sat up, then got back on his feet. “Now you KNOW that isn’t fair.” he tackled Mark again, this time grabbing him by the legs and attempted to restrain him.
Oliver’s “attacks” were very sloppy, and uncoordinated.
“If you even attempt to get mom to ground me, I’ll do something HEINOUS.” he threatened, jokingly.
Mark didn’t allow himself a moment to rest because he knew Oliver was going to immediately come back after him after kicking him backwards. He watched as he attempted to restrain him.
Even though his legs were unavailable, his hands still were. His elbow lifted, aiming to hit Oliver over the head with his arm.
“ I’m still holding back you know, “ He taunted, his elbow now coming down with enough force to knock Oliver off of him—unsure if he’d actually hit him hard enough to hurt him or not. “ Bad guys aren’t going to go easy on you like I am. “
“Aw f-“ he stumbled backward onto his behind for a moment, and rubbed the back of his head with one hand. It hurt, but it wasn’t hard enough to make him back down at least. He immediately got back up.
“Well stop holding back ! Isn’t the whole point of training not to?” he asked, cockily questioning his brother’s logistics. “You’re supposed to push the limit.” he was asking for a little more difficulty. Oliver attempted to jump at Mark and land a hit directly to his chest.
Mark seemed surprised at his request but hesitated, hesitating making Oliver land the hit directly on his chest. He stumbled back, his hand coming to clench the area that he hit. “ It’s not only about holding back, it’s about not doing something you’ll regret. “
He corrected and raising his fists again, his heel now digging into the ground. “ You have no idea what you’re doing, and you know it. “
Mark teased, though he was treating Oliver like he was still a kid. He hesitated, he rarely does that nowadays. He hovered upwards and boosted towards Oliver, trying to get a hold of him.
“Booo!!” Oliver heckled, and blew raspberries. “Push the limit! Make it harder!” He yelled; “It’s not that I don’t know what I’m doing, it’s just ‘cus you’re a scaaaredy cat.” he taunted.
But immediately regretted this as he watched Mark start to dart his way. “WAIT-“ he screamed, his voice cracking as he attempted to boost himself off the ground to fly and get away.
“I WASN’T READY !!”
Even with Oliver’s retorts and seeing the regret immediately come out of it made a snicker appear on his face when he finally caught him—He chased him, while finally grabbing ahold of Oliver’s leg and tugging him backwards.
“ You wanted a challenge !! “ He hollered, while he tugged him back into him, he attempted to hold him in a chokehold.
“ Don’t be a ‘scaredy cat ‘ now! “ He mocked Oliver.
“WUAH-“ Oliver exclaimed when he was yanked back and pulled into a chokehold. He grabbed onto Mark’s forearm and tried to pry him off, and kicked his legs. “Nuhuh- I’m far … from scaredy— unlike you! ” He laughed, but was still struggling to get Mark to let go.
That was when Oliver brought his arm up and tried to elbow Mark in his side to at least try to make him ease up.
“ You’re gonna get grounded, if you don’t try- “
Mark let out a loud huff at when Oliver elbowed him at the side—but only loosened his grip for a moment before slightly shoving him backwards, he had to admit, Oliver wasn’t as bad as he initially figured, still sluggish and had no idea what he was doing…But okay at what he was doing now.
He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, a little proud smile appearing on his face.
“ You’re doing well, Oliver. “ His eyebrows furrowed while the smile turned into more of a mischevious one as he lunged forward again—this time with his fist. “ Keep calling me a scaredy cat while I punch the air outta your lungs ! “
Oliver grunted when he was shoved. “Alright.. alright.” Oliver clenched his fists causing his knuckles to pop. He then brought his fists up, as he watched his brother begin to lunge forward. “How ‘bout, I do that.. without having my chest caved in?” he asked, his tone unchanging from the cocky vibrato.
He didn’t have much time to think about his next move.
When Oliver noticed he was coming in closer, he attempted to spin out of Mark’s line of attack, grab by the wrist, and swing him out of the way.
The terrain below him dug itself up whenever he boosted closer to Oliver, his hand unexpectedly coming down at his side before almost colliding with him instead—he knew the punch would be far more obvious when he said it out loud.
Mark fell onto the grass with a hard thud when Oliver swung him out of his line of sight; but that didn’t deter him. He sat back up.
“ You talk too much during fights, “ He spoke, annoyed. His hands curled into fists once more, staying in position. “ Your stubbornness might get you killed one day. “ He joked.
He replied. His fist were now up to the sides of his face. He’s surprised with himself, genuinely not thinking that move would actually work. He lets out a half chuckle, before turning his attention back to his older brother.
“Being stubborn is what’s keeping me able to dodge you.” he said. “And yo, spiderman talks during fights. I haven’t seen him eat shit yet.” he shrugged.
He then hurled himself at Mark. As he did so he pulled his fist back, winding up a punch and attempted to lunged at him.
“ Yeah well, even spiderman can eat shit if he’s not careful. “
Mark, his eyes slightly narrowing into slits as he intended to focus more on what Oliver’s intentions actually were, finally watching as he dashed towards him at immense speed.
In response, his fist came up and caught his fist—holding onto it with a firm grip to ensure he didn’t break through.
“ You really need to be less obvious, spiderboy. “ He tossed Oliver down into the grass—looming over him. “ Mom is so going to make your videogames into pancakes and make you ingest it. “
Oliver hit the ground. “Awh, come on. I would’ve totally had you.” He said looking up at his brother as he towered over him.
“You’re so done, Mark. And what if I tell her about.. uh.. well. I don’t know but I’ll find something on you.” Oliver retorted, crossing his arms, looking the other way, and pouting.
after doing this though, he tried a sneak attack by attempting to do a leg sweep under Mark.
Mark was too focused on his brother's pout that he actually got swept off of his feet and lost his balance in the sky. he fell on his bottom with a "oof!", his eyes shutting for a moment as he took a minute to rest in the grass. " You have nothing on me, " he had a beam of a smile on his face, though he knew there was probably something nothing to worry about that Oliver would tease him about later. " You better find something before you-" He did a poor attempt to restrain Oliver his hand reaching out to grab. " Lose! "
Oliver attempted to move back, although the attempt was faulty— Mark had his grasp on him for just a second before he wiggled away and stood on his feet.
“HA, as if. I’m totally kicking your ass. Maybe I won’t even have to blackmail you. Unless there’s something I totally don’t know about…?” Oliver raised his eyebrow, curiously.
Mark watched him wiggle away with a nearly annoyed look on his face, but as quick as it showed , as quickly as it disappeared. His hand clenched when he stood up, his arm retracting and coming to cross over his chest.
“ Why would I give you the advantage? “ He smiled. “ I mean, it’d be fair if I gave you one. You are in some heavy shit with Mom.“
His arms now came to his sides. “ I also spoke to dad the other day , “ He remarked confidently, knowing that Oliver would probably lose anyway. “ Though, unlike you… I know Mom can’t ground me from saving the world, or my videogames . “
“WAIT.. wait wait wait wait.. WHAT ?” he raised his voice. “Now that’s just hypocritical.” He held his arms out, appalled. “How is it a bit deal that I talked to dad, but not you?” He asked, walking up to Mark and poking him in the chest.
“That’s SOOO not fair.” He stood with his arms crossed, and glared up at his brother. He didn’t make any moves to attack him this time. He was slightly angered. “How is it that whenever I do what you do I GET IN TROUBLE?” he asked, genuinely not understanding the concept of the privileges older siblings getz
One of Mark's hands came up to his mouth as he covered a snicker at his mild disbelief at his hypocrisy. He let himself be pushed back slightly by Oliver's finger, the smile never fully leaving his face. " I get away with things easier because I'm her favorite, " He joked, standing up taller. " And stronger... And a lot more responsible. "
“LIAR.. If anything I’m the favorite. I’m way cooler and cuter than you.” Oliver started to get defensive, obviously a little more ticked off than before.
“You’re such a butt!” he said, now jabbing his brother in the chest. There was no malice behind it, but a bit of strength was added to the jab— he want to get at least some hurt reaction from him. “Strong and responsible? Really?” He asked. “Name one time you handled a situation “responsibly”. I’ll wait.” He half smirked, crossing his arms and looking up at him.
“ Tsshh! You wish. “ He teased, though his intent wasn’t to hurt him. He put a hand where Oliver had jabbed it at, slightly rubbing the spot as it began to sting around the surrounding area of his chest. “ ow… “
His eyebrows quirked as if the question had genuinely made him think, putting one hand on his chin. “ Hmm. Maybe that one time where my little brother nearly got himself killed and instead of tattling, “ He pointed a thumb at himself pridefully , “ The responsible guy beat your ass in training instead. “
“Doesn’t count, doesn’t count, that doesn’t count.” Oliver said quickly, having his hand, dismissively. “DOESNNN’T COUNNNNT.” he yelled. “Doesn’t count and never will.” He looked away from him. A pouty expression was on his face before, and after looking back at him.
“You haven’t beaten me yet, I’m still standing; and YOU’RE not telling mom.” He raised an eyebrow, smirking now having a sense of his own pride.
“ It does count though ! “ He rebutted, chuckling softly at his pouting expression. It was funny to him he still thought he still had a chance against him even after being tossed through the grass multiple times. “I swept you theough the dirt! “
Mark watched the pride come back onto his features ad gave him a sly smirk. His fists came back upwards. “ Who’s gonna stop me from telling mom? “
Oliver only stood there; his smirk turning pouty. “WHATEVER, fine. Tell mom, s’not like I care..” he mumbled under his breath.
“I didn’t even do anything THAT crazy.” he said defending himself. “Plus you didn’t ACTUALLY beat me. I was just… warming up.” He excused himself, and shrugged.

// I GENUINELY THOUGHT I POSTED THIS SORRY 😭
// LOL ITS OKAY !!! No worries !!!! 😭💜

// I GENUINELY THOUGHT I POSTED THIS SORRY 😭
// LOL ITS OKAY !!! No worries !!!! 😭💜

// I GENUINELY THOUGHT I POSTED THIS SORRY 😭
// LOL ITS OKAY !!! No worries !!!! 😭💜
// I GENUINELY THOUGHT I POSTED THIS SORRY 😭
// LOL ITS OKAY !!! No worries !!!! 😭💜
“Hey Oliver! How are you holding up?”

“HAHA! Hey, Mark!!!.. I’ve been holding up as best as I can..” Oliver smiled. “Thing’s have been pretty slow. Just playin’ video games for the most part; Been replaying pokemon as of recent.”

// I GENUINELY THOUGHT I POSTED THIS SORRY 😭
// LOL ITS OKAY !!! No worries !!!! 😭💜

// I GENUINELY THOUGHT I POSTED THIS SORRY 😭
// LOL ITS OKAY !!! No worries !!!! 😭💜

// LOL ITS OKAY !!! No worries !!!! 😭💜
