Would ya'll be interested in me just telling my story of my Transformers continuity? Or at least the draft I have so far.
It takes me forever to write anything and I wanna share what I have but I'm struggling with actually writing down a coherent story and maybe getting outside opinions would be nice.
Probably just write it up as summaries text posts and maybe a doodle or two if I have the energy.
Goddddd I want so badly a fanfic that sort of explored Springer and Tarantulas's dynamic more. I wanna see a Springer grappling with being completely artificial. I wanna see Tarantulas freaking Springer out until Springer kind of pieces together that Tarantulas is treating him almost like a son. I wanna see Springer piece together the backstory of what turned his creator into this creepy spider guy.
I have ideas for my own version of Springer and Tarantulas and a story in mind to explore that but like come onnnn
Forever of the two minds of "does this make sense and is this good" and "fuck it its my art and my story I do what I want"

So about that Red Alert x Inferno fanfic I wrote about a long while ago...
Well, I began it at least.
Transformers Show where it's only Optimus Prime on Earth because he got isekai'd after a devastating attack from the Decepticons, separated from his Autobots by a space bridge and knocked unconscious for possibly centuries/millennia/however long you want.
Optimus wakes up suddenly to find himself covered in plants and moss and dirt cause he's been there for so long and while at first he's trying to find his Autobots or at least figure out where he is, he also gets to just learn about the Earth and nature and shit and also watches humans go about their life in a small remote town from afar.
First season has Optimus flip flopping between being genuinely interested in what this new planet has to offer and wanting to get back to Cybertron as fast as possible to try and find his Autobots because he's so so worried about them. And while he's trying to find that out he ends up helping with much smaller issues. Helping a baby fox find its mama. Saving animals from a wildfire. Maybe getting a human companion because they end up finding him by accident and he helps them out of a squabble. Darkest hour comes when he realizes he doesn't have a way back home. He can't build a space bridge, the humans don't have that level of technology, and he doesn't know if his Autobots even know where he is. And depending on how long he's been alone, he has to confront the thought that they might be dead. Human character helps pull him out of his depression and they maybe defeat a human bad guy with Optimus's presence being revealed or something to the town who collectively decide to keep him a secret because he's *theirs* now.
Maybe in future seasons, the Autobots eventually do realize their long lost leader is in fact still alive. Maybe the Decepticons have taken over Cybertron but the Autobots still live on as a resistance movement and the Autobots realize that if they can get Optimus back they can win the war. The Decepticons realize he's still alive and worried the Autobots might do exactly that start sending threats after him to finish him off and the Autobots hurry to find him and suddenly the planet that gave Optimus some kind of sancutary is caught in the middle of a war he feared he was unable to finish and he's going through ALL the emotions because his Autobots are alive but Cybertron is worse for wear and now this planet he came to cherish is in danger and Megatron is personally pissing him off now and...
Idk...go from there I guess.
I want a fanfic that explores the genuine ramifications of Rodimus Unicronus. I want to know a Hot Rod who went through being possessed by the Unmaker himself and THEN became a Prime. I wanna know what that would do to him. I wanna know what sort of issues that Rodimus would have. Bitch would have his depression from G1 caused by the burden of leadership ALONG with crushing existential terror. And he'd probably feel like keeping all of that inside so as to either not terrify his friends, keep hope alive in the Autobot ranks, or not be seen as some kind of monster because suddenly his "humanity" (for lack of a better term) would be incredibly important to him (although he might worry that its already left him)
What would it mean for this one person, this one bot, to be affected by both a god of light and creation AND a god of darkness and destruction? A god who cherishes every life and a god who's endless hunger makes him kill everything around him?
How long until someone like that cracks under the strain?
How long until someone like that is able to piece themselves back together again?
Hey how dare you hide this in the tags
Transformers is about autonomy. Like, obviously freedom is a big part of it and freedom is just the right to have autonomy, and the fight is between a leader who encourages his allies to do what they think is best and trusts them to make the right decisions vs a leader who controls and subjugates even his followers in an attempt to make it so no one has autonomy under his rule, who berates and tortures those who step out of line.
But like...they're also robots.
They're machines. They can be built in some continuities, built to serve a specific function or purpose. They can be reprogrammed, rebuilt, modified, controlled.
I feel like while Transformers is inherently political, with the whole freedom theme and them fighting against a literal tyrant...
I feel like it could be equally as valid to write a Transformers plot or show that focuses more on them as robots and what makes something alive.
Idk I kinda just realized that a lot of the characters in my Transformers continuities have something focusing on freedom and autonomy.
Side note: with the revelation of the early drafts of the Transformers cartoons, I've been thinking about the lambo twins and specifically Sideswipe and his relationship with Optimus Prime.
If you don't know, in an early draft for the Transformers G1 Cartoon, Sideswipe was going to be female and also Optimus Prime's love interest.
I don't think in my continuity that Sideswipe would be in love with Optimus, but I do think Sideswipe would admire Optimus a great deal. Optimus just has the ability to make someone feel strong and special and like they could be something incredible, and I imagine Sideswipe clinging to that feeling due to having been a gladiator alongside his brother, originally just a tool for someone elses sick and twisted entertainment. Then comes along this guy who makes Sideswipe feel like he's more than that, who makes Sideswipe feel like he's worth something.
Sideswipe wouldn't be entirely uncritical of Optimus, and in fact thinks Optimus can be a bit too kind at times, but he is one of the most loyal Autobots in my continuity, the one who is most loyal to the ideals of freedom, and most loyal to Optimus specifically. He may be a little shit, and a little prankster, but NO ONE can say he isn't an Autobot.
