Now that Vampire Knight is officially over, what are your thoughts? Do you still believe that Zero and Yuki were meant to be together? And did VK Memories resolve any lingering questions for you, or did it end up introducing even more plot holes?
Hi anon! I'll be real with you, I was so emotionally removed from VK for the longest time. Once it became more and more apparent that Hino literally did not give a flying fuck about her own heroine I checked out. I mean I had been very meh about it all since chapter 87 of original VK, and I had hoped she would somehow manage to make up for the rushed, subpar ending of VK but she only made it worse in the end and I'm sad that I guess I just severely overestimated her writing abilities.
No real development, we are shown that despite everything Kaname is still as selfish as he always was. That nothing else mattered to him except the child he fell in love with, not even his own daughter, not even Yuuki's own wishes for him mattered. Only he mattered in the end, and I think that was just Hinos mindset in the end too. I think to disrespect your own MC so much, to have her go through so much for hundreds of years just for it to end like that? Yeah I have not an ounce of respect for Hino and at this point I'm glad it's over. Every character suffered for the sake of one character.
I still believe that Yuuki and Zero were the best match, Zero and Yuuki at least knew each other and didn't put each other on weird pedestals and had a relationship based on mutual love and respect for the other but at this point I think Hino just did that by accident because she clearly didn't care lol but yeah it's over, i'm glad, and I hope Hino never writes another manga.
