âAwayâ, an oil painting for my solo exhibition âA Beautiful Hauntingâ and on view at Thinkspace Projects.Â
I didnât have the privilege as a kid of being surrounded by a ton of story books, but I do remember reading in glee, whatever I could find at a cousinâs place. One of the authors I got to know and love through my visitations, was Enid Blyton, whose novels were largely filled with whimsy and magic.
This painting revisits one of her books titled 'Adventures of the Wishing Chairâ. In which a pair of siblings chanced upon a chair that sprouts wings and flies them to places they desire. Highly recommend introducing your kids to Blytonâs books if you are unfamiliar with her work â it expanded my horizon of creativity and fantasy as a young child and I am forever grateful I read her stories.
