"Stop. I see you. Why do you hide in the shadows?"
Kili flinched into his clothes, trying to hide behind his hair. He really screwed up this time, “Apologies, I had no idea we were approaching Elvish territory. I always thought my Uncle wished to avoid.” He bit his lip, bowing low, “Apologies?”
"Apology accepted young dwarf." Arwen answered flashing him a little smile. "I would advice to be more careful on your words next time. One day you might insult someone who does not forgive so easily. What are you and the other dwarfs doing here?"
Kili nodded, showing her understood her warning. He would chose his words with care in the future. To Kili, the knowledge of the quest was sacred. He could not tell the Lady Elf, even if she was kind. "We are trying to return home." He said, telling the truth yet leaving the main details of the quest.
"Thorin. Thorin Oakenshield." Kili said. He just hoped his uncle was in.
"Ah the quest to reclaim Erebor," Susan replied shaking her head slightly, "alas I cannot help you in that quest, to do so would change the future… and the laws of time bind those that are… well never mind… I cannot help you or your uncle."
Kili was on alert, "Who told you of our quest?" He asked with gritted teeth, trying to remain calm, "Who are you to say you have nothing to aid in this quest?"
"And what is your age? How many summers have you seen?" Kili asked, actually intrigued by her. If she was older than she looked, Kili wondered her actual age, not that he could determine the age of men. It was different to the age of dwarves.
Jan had to think for a couple of minutes before being able to answer the question. “I guess…technically, when it comes to men, I’m twenty-one.” she explained. “My little brothers, though…they’re getting way taller than me already, and they’re only eighteen and twelve.”
"Twenty-one?" Kili asked, biting back a laugh, "Too a dwarf, you are but a babe. At twenty-one, most dwarrows were still with their mother." He said, tossing his head back to release his laugh, "I am Seventy-Sevens. And I am not classed as an adult dwarf yet. Yet I cannot see the annoyance of youngings that are taller. I am the younging that is taller. Drives my brother mad."
"Of that, I have no doubt."
"Where are you hailing from, dwarf?"
"Ered Luin-- The Blue Moutain? Have you heard of it, my Lady?"
Kili winkled his nose, hating himself for being so obvious. “Very well. You caught me. I am no alone.” He said, but hastened to add, “Yet that does not mean you can continue ‘investigating’ us.”
"It seems that you are unaware that you are in Rivendell, dwarf. You passed the borders a few miles ago. Not to be rude or anything but you can not send me away from my own home."
Kili flinched into his clothes, trying to hide behind his hair. He really screwed up this time, "Apologies, I had no idea we were approaching Elvish territory. I always thought my Uncle wished to avoid." He bit his lip, bowing low, "Apologies?"
"Thank you." He muttered, "Its often hard to find someone that means no harm."
"Yet I should inform you that, if I find reason to cause harm, I will."
"Of that, I have no doubt."
"You are of Man, yes? Seems a little funny that a dwarf can move quicker." Kili observed with a teasing smile. He did not mean any offense, just pointing out that, even though he was tall for a dwarf, he was still a dwarf.
She knew he was just pointing it out, but it still caused her to blush quite a bit before shrugging and clearing her throat. "Well…yeah. But short legs means it takes more to catch up— and I don’t really go on big journeys a lot." she explained. "Nobody believes I’m as old as I say I am because I’m so short."
"And what is your age? How many summers have you seen?" Kili asked, actually intrigued by her. If she was older than she looked, Kili wondered her actual age, not that he could determine the age of men. It was different to the age of dwarves.
Kili was swift, following the path of the arrow, seeing the downed elk. He never would admit outloud, but he was in awe of the Elvish archery skills. “That was good. It will help. Thank you.” He said, biting back his pride.
"Happy to help." she smiled, moving to retrieve her arrow. What she failed to notice was the warg that also wanted the elk, Tauriel looked up just in time to see it lunge for her.
Kili's head shot up. His mind ran fast as he loaded his bow, taking a bare second to aim and shoot, reloading. She had helped him and now he was going to save her.
"We are not tha-" He sighed, "I apologize. For them and my behavior."
"I don’t mean to harm you and your company, but I understand that you are wary. So there is no need to apologize."
"Thank you." He muttered, "Its often hard to find someone that means no harm."
"I am with no kin. Any noise I make is my own." He lied, "I ask of you to desist following u- me."
"I was talking about your kin in general. There is no need to be so defensive, altough it does give yourself away." Arwen pointed out looking quite amused. "Oh I am not following you. I was merely investigating."
Kili winkled his nose, hating himself for being so obvious. "Very well. You caught me. I am no alone." He said, but hastened to add, "Yet that does not mean you can continue 'investigating' us."
"Oh." Kili stopped, as he turned to Jan. He bowed deeply, "I am Kili, son of Dis." He introduced, straightening up, nodding at her. He cleared his throat, pushing his hair over his shoulder.
"There is a long walk to Rivendell, we must be swift." He said, turning on his heel, but waited until Jan was by his side before taking off.
"Mm, well then, nice to meet you, Kili." Oh yes, she was definitely correct in her previous guess as to who he was.
"I know, I’m coming-" she assured him, trying to pick up her pace as much as she could. It wasn’t that she was purposefully dragging behind, she just had shorter legs than most people, and legs that didn’t like going on longer walks than necessary.
"You are of Man, yes? Seems a little funny that a dwarf can move quicker." Kili observed with a teasing smile. He did not mean any offense, just pointing out that, even though he was tall for a dwarf, he was still a dwarf.
Kili bit his lip, “My uncle should talk to you.” He said eventually. If his uncle wanted to go on an insane quest to reclaim The Lonely Mountain, this woman might be helpful.
"And who is your uncle?" Susan asked him.
"Thorin. Thorin Oakenshield." Kili said. He just hoped his uncle was in.

“Who are you and how did you come to find u- me?”
"You must be joking. You and your pack of elephants are louder than - well, elephants.”
"We are not tha-" He sighed, "I apologize. For them and my behavior."

"Find you? I do not know if you realize this but your kin makes a lot of noise when moving around. How could I not have heard you coming?"

Gem quickly pulled her sleeve down over her vortex manipulator. Taking from the stature, the man was a dwarf. From the clothes she could tell she was somewhere without technology, but it wasn’t medieval clothing more…fantasy?
"Gemini Tyler, I’m…sort of a traveler, you could say. And you are?"
Kili looked over the woman. He did not know if she was an elf or not, but he wasnt taking any chances. His sword weighed down by his hip, knowing he could draw it at any moment, if she proved to be dangerous.
"I am Kili, son of Dis." He introduced, eyes never leaving the woman, Gemini, but not mentioning his full lineage, not caring to out himself as related to Dwarvish royals.
"You walked? You walked into a mountain, full of watchers and no one stopped you?" Kili asked in disbelief.
"I can move unseen," Susan replied. "and not even a dragon could find me lest I wanted it to."
Kili bit his lip, "My uncle should talk to you." He said eventually. If his uncle wanted to go on an insane quest to reclaim The Lonely Mountain, this woman might be helpful.
