emma’s bracelet giveaway

In celebration of 400 followers, I’m doing a bracelet giveaway! There will be three winners and each winner will receive four bracelets. All bracelets are handmade from yarn and/or embroidery thread, and each will wrap around your wrist 2-4 times. Assorted weaves, but mostly crochet. Some have beads on them as well.

Last day!!!

Goldie swung to a stop in front of the garage and stood up, taking in the place. It really had been too long since she’d last been here. Her eyes fell on Thrill and she grinned and began making her way towards him. When the other boy stepped out from behind him her face hardened a bit and her hand came to rest on the grip of the raygun strapped to her thigh. 

“Hey Thrill, what’s happenin’? And who’s the newbie?” Goldie asked.

“Hey Goldie, this is System Medic.”

Phantom Thrill, noticing Goldie’s actions, moved in front of Medic, almost like he was shielding him. He kept his smile up though as he did understand Goldie’s hostility, if you weren’t careful out here, you’d end up very dead, very fast.

“Nothing much, it’s business as usual. What about you? What brings you here?”

System Medic warily watched Goldie, his own hand wrapped tightly around his ray gun. He didn’t want to start a firefight with someone he’d just met and he could understand her suspicion, but he would fight back if she shot at him, though he doubted it would come to that.

His eyes widened at the statement about him being a newbie.

“It’s not that obvious, is it?!”

Goldie’s hand fell from her gun and she looked Medic over with a grin. 

“Sorry, kid, it’s pretty obvious. But don’t worry- I’m not one to judge. You should’ve seen me when I first showed up in the zones,” She chuckled, extending her hand to shake his before turning addressing Thrill. 

“I’m looking for some serpentine belts, mine are worn out and fraying. The Challenger sounded like a dying pig this morning.”

System relaxed when the woman’s hand dropped from her gun, and he shook the hand that was offered to him. He looked at Goldie with interest, wondering what her story was. Her words did reassure him that he wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb for much longer, as she looked the part of a killjoy.

“Yeah, my outfits a little bland, isn’t it?” He looked over his black, blue and white ensemble with some exasperation. “I’m having a hard time being creative…I used to be, a long time ago, but now…” he shrugged. 

Phantom Thrill grinned and replied to Goldie, “Well then, you’re in luck, I’ve got two of them, stolen from a couple of Drac cars ages ago.”

He looked at Medic, “You don’t have to be creative or wear a crazy outfit to be a killjoy, all you need to do is take a stand by breaking away from BLI and being yourself.”

“Shiny. How much do you want for ‘em?” She asked, and glanced at Medic. “And your creativity will return, with time. But Thrill’s right. It’s the idea, the spirit that matters. If you’ve got the attitude, everything else will follow,” Goldie told him before tilting her head. “So when did you get to the zones?”

“Thirty carbons please,” answered Thrill.

System had a hard time believing Goldie’s words. Yeah sure, he may get back some of his past creativity but he’d a feeling that BLI had permanently stripped him of a portion of it and that was the worst thing, wasn’t it? To get something back after so long to discover it just wasn’t right. What it used to be.

“A couple of weeks to a month? I’m not entirely sure. What about you?”

Goldie handed over the carbons. “Thanks a bunch, Thrill. You’re a lifesaver.” Goldie bit her lip as she contemplated Medic’s question. “I… I’m not sure. Six years? Somewhere around there. I stopped counting after…” Goldie trailed off, her eyes becoming eerily empty.

Thrill went into the shack and soon later came back out with the two serpentine belts in his hands.

“No problem,” he replied as he took the carbons from Goldie and handed her the belts.

Six years!? Well, that crushed Medics hopes of looking like a killjoy sooner rather than later. At the empty look in her eyes, he kicked at the sand in front of him and apologetically spoke, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to drag up bad memories.”

Thrill, hoping to bring Goldie back into the present asked, “Hey, what’s being going on in the zones? Is there anything I can take,” he motioned towards the younger man, “ System to, to show him some enjoyable aspects of killjoy life?”

Being a Sand Pup, he made sure to stay of Bli’s radar, so most of his days were spent here, at his shack, though he did go to some parties, occasionally, so other Killjoys knew his name and what he did. But he hadn’t gone to any parties or anything of that sort for a few weeks now, so all Medic had to go on as to what killjoy life entailed was; shooting practice, canned food and learning survival skills. He was sure the other man was starting to get bored.

Goldie looked down, embarrassed that she had let herself get caught up in the past. “It’s okay, kid. Not your fault,” she told Medic with a small smile. “There’s a Mad Gear and Missile Kid concert tonight, out in six. It’s in that abandoned theater- the really cool one north of guano. That’s a good example of killjoy fun if I’ve ever seen one,” she said with a chuckle. “Ya just gotta be careful not to get trampled and you’ll have a great time.”

System listened to Goldie with interest, a concert sounded cool, though he’d never been to one. He looked at Thrill hopefully.

“Looks like we're going to a concert,” Phantom grinned at Medic. He looked at Goldie, “That’s shiny, thanks.”  He gave her a small smile of understanding, having noticed her embarrassment, they all had pasts out here, most of them bad, so neither he nor Medic could or even would judge her for getting lost in hers.

Goldie was leaning over the engine of her car, the desert sun burning her bare shoulders. She quickly found what she was looking for. “The fucking belt is bad,” she muttered, closing the hood and wiping her hands on her (already filthy) pants. She had noticed a problem immediately when she had started her car that morning- the squeaking engine sounded like a dying rodent and suggested a worn out belt. A quick check under the hood confirmed her suspicions. And, of course, she didn’t have a replacement. Which meant that her trip to zone one was cancelled. She’d be going to three instead. “Well, at least I’ll get to see Thrill. It’s been too long,” she said, hopping on Ryder’s bike and taking off to go buy belts. (OOC: @oren-skyff sorry this took so long)

Thrill had been working on a bike when he heard the sound of a car coming towards them. He hurriedly put down his tools and reached for his ray gun, praying to Destroya that it wasn’t Draculoids. He was a good shooter and fighter, yeah, but Dracs almost never travelled alone, and he had someone other than himself to watch out for now.

Speaking of, he looked around for Medic, to see with a bit of relief that the younger man had heard the approaching car and was heading towards him, coloured raygun gripped in his hands. Thrill had just been about to shout to Medic to get on his bike while he ran to get the rucksack he’d created for these situations, when he saw the car come over the sand dune. He halted System Medic with a hand though, when he realised who owned the car, a smile tinged with relief broke out on his face. System Medic had been out in the zones for a few months now, he looked basically the same as when he’d left except for the scruffiness. Same black jeans and white, now dirty shirt, but with an added jacket and bandanna. He’d pushed the blue bandana up around his mouth, when he’d heard the approaching car, and turned from the make ship shooting range to go get Thrill. He desperately hoped that it wasn’t Draculoids, as while he’d been practising his shooting and had got better, he wasn’t a brilliant shot and his hand-to-hand fighting wasn’t great either. Plus, he feared that the Dracs would take one look at him; pale and awkward looking and know he’d just escaped from The City and got of its meds. System sighed in relief when he saw the car, belonging to a killjoy no doubt, and stopped a little aways from Thrill, close to his new and improved blue and black bike.

Ahhh, I got my GCSE results today!! I've enough to get into sixth form!! At the start of the year, I was getting an 'f' in maths but with a lot of help (and tears) I achieved a 'c' grade!! I couldn't be happier though I'm a bit in shock at the moment, it'll probably hit me tomorrow that I won't have to resit maths or english (my english teacher had been giving me high d's/borderline c's so I'd resigned myself to resitting) and can go on and do subjects I'm actually interested in! I hope you all got what you needed, if not what you wanted and even if you didn't, congrats on getting through your GCSE's!! It was tough going and I'm proud of us all!

Ankaara wasn’t one to frequent public places. She often found the task tedious and aggravating, as most people were often fools. This day, however, she had decided to leave the base for some air. After being cooped up among gray walls, it had started to get to her.

Something, or someone, however, was sending her off putting vibes. The Force. Amber eyes scanned the crowd, searching for the source of this untapped power. They settled on a boy.

Careful steps brought her to her target, almost sneaking up on the boy, as to catch him off guard. Once behind him, she cleared her throat.

"That’ll be fifteen credits.”

Oren nodded and handed the elderly vendor the amount needed. As he lifted the box, he noticed the vendors eyes settle on something, or someone, behind him. So when the person, woman, by the sound of it cleared her throat, he wasn’t startled in the least. Instead, he turned around, with the box securely in his hands and gave her an inquiring look, as if to ask if she wanted his attention, or the vendors, though he guessed it was the vendors as why would she want to talk to him?

Oren walked through the busy market, with a list clutched in his hand. Some of the stalls had delicious smells of food wafting off of them, making his mouth water, he planned to get something nice to eat later before heading home. First, though, he had to get the much needed groceries his mother had sent him out to get, while she looked after his two much younger siblings. Seeing a stall which was selling fresh fruit and vegetables, he approached it and politely smiled at the vendor.

“Can I have one of your mixed boxes of fruit and veg please?”

He dug his hand into the pocket in his blue cloak to get the credits his mum had given him.
