as i've admitted a lot over the last two years - i've seriously fallen off when it comes to listening to new rap. this seems to be a good way to continue back into it - 2013's record "run the jewels" by the group of the same name featuring killer mike and el-p. we'll go through this breeze of a tape this evening at 7 on wpsr.

we missed last week due to me finishing up an essay, but this week we’re back with two deep selections courtesy of the great blog leftcoasttapes.

our first piece will be portions of heartsong’s white light (1985). what can be only described as “music for all ages.” the product of a bunch of studio musicians placed in the same room at once to create commercial music without commercial purpose. i have a very interesting connection to this group that i’ll share on air tonight.

the second piece is a tape called “ghost in the garden,” (1994) and it is definitely not for the faint of heart. music and poetry recorded in memory of a kidnapped and killed girl from seattle. i seriously wonder whether or not the parents’ permission was granted before this seriously creepy piece was created.

we’ll see you tonight at 7 for deep obscure sounds from decades gone by on purchase radio.
