My Marching band au yap about the show
their matching band isn’t that big, only 36 people in division one. But I will be adding some people when I get the chance and even out the instruments. And I might change some things to the show as I go on. For now this is just what I can imagine.
the show: Their marching band show will be the representation of Destruction Vs creation. To them, it is just a story, they’re high schoolers and do not know about the AUs surrounding them. And this is their interpretation of the story.
(Movement one, going into two⬇️)
I’m not a marching band composer, but in the beginning of the show, I want it to be mellow and quiet. Almost like nothing is going on, everyone is just doing what they have to do; front ensemble is playing a few notes, battery might join in and some long notes from the wind instruments, taking turns on solos nice and quiet. The visuals are heavily fluid, soft, and gentle. Sometime though, battery will get more intense, the mood shifts, the show on the edge of their seat like they’re waiting to snap and growing intensely. Suddenly, two instruments start to ‘fight’ in a aggressive music duo
Finally when they do, I want the first impact loud, something the audience will not expect.
Near the middle, things will get aggressive. I do want in the music a lot of call and responses (example, low brass plays a few measures then high brass might repeat the rhythm or change it up.) But I wouldn’t want all of it to be in the same section, maybe at some points woodwinds will play then Brass, and maybe woodwinds will go against each other as well.
For the visuals, wind instruments will meet aggressive movements, color guard (I don’t know much about color guard) will most likely go against each other or duo visuals. Everyone is really just fighting in the show.
Then, maybe a flute, their visuals will to run around the field (scared) looking at all the ‘violence’, finally having enough of it, leads to a solo, overpowering the other instruments to halt.
(Movement 3⬇️)
meeting the ending, the flute will play a beautiful solo, then visuals on the field will be more fluent, and soft. the visuals of the other instruments will softly and gently return to their spots from the beginning of the show during the solo flute, the front ensemble playing softly behind. Only this time nobody solos but the flute, nobody is left behind. Leaving everyone in the same place they were before, quiet and at peace.
