It’s not uncommon for him to read, in fact Tim uses a lot of his free time to expand his mind — hell of a lot better than dealing with people most days. So his happening by a school had been interesting; the discovery of its massive library ( despite its ramshackle state ) was a blessing, at least he could pass the time here.
It doesn’t take him long to find a decent chair to sit in, complete with an ottoman as well, of which the Tanner boy parks his disheveled converse sneakers upon. He slinks the duffel down toward the side — but close enough to access should he need it, the fishing wire inside is either a resource or a weapon and Timmy hasn’t seen any lakes around. Once comfortable the boy finds his pack of cigarettes and sparks the end with the lighter he’s been given, noting whoever is running this freak show — isn’t without humour, and begins to read.
Her heartbeat slows as she watches him walk through the doorway. He looks quite young, she noted, and he has a duffel bag not unlike hers. He was keeping it close.Â
Mmm, if the contents were even slightly similar to what she has in her bag, he probably has the right idea  – but does he have the resolve to use it? Whatever it is. Kim doesn’t even know if they have been given the same things. She doesn’t really know anything at this point. All she knows is that, if it came down to it, she does have the resolve and she hopes that it would make the difference ‘cause she isn’t entirely sure if she has the skill. She has never trained with a cat o’ nine tails before. They were archaic tools, greatly outmanoeuvred by guns. Kim had never needed to learn.
She runs her hand gently through the contents of her bag. Her fingertips caress the hard curves of knotted cord as her nails scrape the hollow plastic of a container of salt. God was she glad that she wandered into an empty store. There was so much waste, so much spoiled food but good old salt didn't go off. It was there for her. Reliable. Pain is always reliable, she thinks in satisfaction, and it would get her through this as it always had.Â
"Cigarettes huh?" She pushes herself off the wall and walks out from the corner she was languishing in. She shoots him a pleasant smile. "Do we have a secret compartment in our bags that I don't know about?
