Long time, no blog. I know, I think I use that phrase too much.
I have been busy, being busy. Although I have not kept up with my blog near as much as I would like, I frequently post on my Instagram: @runningthebakery. I post my baking, fitness, running, and everything-in-between adventures.
To get right to it, hence the title “Tidy Home, Tidy Mind,” this blog is about home. There is something so precious about home, right? No matter how bad your day has been, the one thing on your mind is “I am so ready to go [home].” Home is where we should feel safe, at ease, and have peace-of-mind. What is so unique about home is that it can be defined in a million ways by each one of us. My three non-negotiables in regards to home: energetic, welcoming, and tidy. Each of those make me feel safe, at ease, and provide peace-of-mind.
In my previous apartment, I was on a budget. The “perfect” space in my imagination could not be fully executed, but I could add a few details in my own way. Plus, I was in college, and the main goal we all were wanting to achieve was graduating and having financial peace!
One of my greatest accomplishments; graduating from Texas State University.
Fast forward two years, I have moved, and a lot of my previous apartment items did not move with me. However, I am still on a budget, but was able to invest in a few larger items.
I have a evolved, this was my first apartment. Emphasis on “evolved.”
Now, my apartment is still evolving and will continue to do so. Eventually, I will not need that map (see below) or the vintage farm window that my fiance drove three hours to surprise me with four years ago. However, never be ashamed of the special pieces that you have in your home. Home should be a reflection of you, and you should never be ashamed of “you” either.
A few things I love: Small pops of color, monochromatic base, candles, flowers (give me all the flowers), clean lines, and the ambition of more mid-century modern pieces.
Again, still evolving, just like all of us.
Stay healthy and tidy,
The Fit Foodie
