You walked back home, with the help of Mark, who grabbed your arm tightly, both to support your weakened body due to exhaustion and sadness, and also to keep away any guys who attempted to cat call you or harass you somehow. You seemed to have a tendency to attrack assholes.
“Thank you Mark… You’re so nice to me… And I’m such a mess… I’m sorry.” You whispered, as you opened your door, and walked inside.
“No problem. Will you be alright?” He asked, as he stood awkwardly at your door, with his hands in his pockets.
“Yes. Listen Mark… I… I’m really sorry about the way I have been behaving with you. I really do mean it when I say you are very important to me. I’m sorry I can’t give you what you want…” You began to apologize, but Mark stopped you.
“Look, this situation is odd, confusing, and probably a lot crazier than it seems to me, but I understand that your heart wants what it wants, and you can’t change that. And I won’t be the type of guy to stop being your friend over something like that. You mean a lot to me Y/N, and if this isn’t meant to be the way I want it to be, then I’ll be your friend, and make sure you are happy and safe.” He told you, trying to ease your already guilty mind.
“One day you’ll find the perfect girl you know? And you’ll realise why it never could have worked with me. I’m twisted, and weird.” You laughed, ruffling his hair a little.
“Hopefully she arrives soon. Plus, you might be weird, but it’s the good kind. I’ll have my phone on me if you need anything, so just give me a call alright?” He replied, before heading back towards his house. You nodded, and closed the door.
You shuffled awkwardly towards your sofa, and sat there. You kind of wished you had a hot, steaming mug of Chamomile tea in your hands, to warm them up and at least distract you from your inner turmoil, but your body felt too heavy to get up now.
You began dozing off, as you watched the rain’s droplets begin to pitter patter on your window, slowly at first, but then they began to gain speed, creating a soothing rhythm as they fell. Usually you liked the rain, you enjoyed running around in it, feeling the cool droplets of water hit your skin, making you feel free, only to then rush back inside, take a warm shower, and hide under some blankets with a warm mug of tea and a book.
But today, it felt like the weather was a physical representation of the way you felt inside. It was raining inside you, so it rained on the outside too, and soon enough, salty tears began to fall from your eyes. You pushed your head back against the sofa, and let out a dry, humourless chuckle.
You shut your eyes tightly, trying to stop the tears from falling, when you heard a loud banging on your front door. You slowly opened your eyes and for a brief moment, questioned whether the sound could have been caused for the wind. But the wind was not blowing, and the sound echoed on your walls. You stood up, and walked to the door, before taking a deep breath, and wiping your tears away. You put on your best poker-face, and opened the door, ready to confront whoever was bothering you at this inconvenient moment.
Before you could even speak, a tall figure burst through your door, almost taking you down as he walked in. You stuttered, as you looked up at it, trying to make sense of what was happening.
“We need to talk.” You heard Jongin’s voice speak, in a hurried manner. His eyes were open wide, his chest was heaving, and water dripped from his hair and clothes.
“Talk about what Jongin? You already said what you had to say.” You told him, part of you wanting to kick you over the fact that you were speaking so harshly although you desperately just wanted to hold him near and kiss him. But the other part just wanted him out of your sight.
“I don’t understand what’s going on. I don’t know what I’m missing, or what everyone is hiding from me, but there is something that doesn’t seem right. Something that has never seemed right throughout my life, but has only just dawned on me. And I know I overreacted, and I know I’m an ass, but I’m scared, and confused, and I know I don’t deserve forgiveness, but I can’t do this without you. Please… Please just help me…” He begged you with such sincerity in his eyes that your heart ached for him. You tried to search in his soul, to try to find something that would let you know that Kai was somewhere there, watching. What would Kai do? What could you do? You wanted him, all of him, you wanted Jongin, and you wanted Kai, but you also wanted this whole situation to be over. You wanted freedom, you wanted to be careless with your words and actions, you wanted your life back.
