A Fine Kettle of Fish Eggs
Afternoon tea service at the iconic Adolphus Hotel French Room. Had a bumpy start the first trip, with a fire at the bar causing a stir. A second visit proved to be a fabulous time with bubbles, Japanese tea, caviar, scones and sweets. The waiter was delightful and enthusiastic about the Kukicha Green Tea which was light, mellow and delicious. The caviar is an added cost but is highly recommended and pairs well with, well everything on the table.
It is not the same as the Christmas teas that made high tea famous in Dallas back before the Adolphus was sold to Marriott when David Davis and James Donahue wielded their creative and sophisticated influence. It hurt a little to see the jarring electronic sign upstairs in the lounge area with Marriott propaganda but otherwise the decor is still beautiful with walls full of art and gorgeous furnishings. And high tea was a good time. - Kimberly
