As we all know, everybody lived after the BoFA.  Thorin got a few cuts and Bilbo’s sustained the worst injury when his leg was injured stepping in to help defend Thorin against Azog. Thorin carries Bilbo down Ravenhill bridal style and everybody comes running up to celebrate their victory and they all Iive happily ever after.  Pretty sure that’s how the movie and book end.

“Um - yeah - I seem to have - forgotten where I parked my car. I - thought it was down the Portobello Road here, but perhaps it was the next block over, on Ladbroke Grove. It’s a royal blue BMW,” Thorin answered, as he turned to face the lovely lady who had spoken to him. She was really quite gorgeous, something about her made his heart race, as he smiled brightly at her.

“Ah, Sorry - I don’t mean to stare at you, love, but, you have the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen. I’m Thorin - Thorin Durin, by the way.” He was not drunk, no, he had gone to one of the restaurants in the area, and since it was later than he realized, he got his sense of direction turned around.

Thorin hoped she could help him, he knew they were safe in the Notting Hill section of London. And really, his home was not too far from there, but it was just really dark out. He hoped she wouldn’t think he was some sort of creeper for saying those words to her, he just couldn’t help it, she was really quite lovely.

“Sigrid…Sigrid…oh! Yes i happen to know her well. Bard, her father, is a dear friend of mine. We used to date back a couple years ago, but it didn’t quite work out. We’re still good friends though. We’ve been more like siblings though.”

“Tease me? Oh i think you’re the one who will endure most of that if it hasn’t started to happen already. Imagine the first time i walk into your store & one of the boys spots me, they’re bound to yell out something like ‘Uncle! A pretty lady is here to see you!’ or anything else that might embarrass you.”

“So now you know where your car is parked?” She laughed.

“Yeah, that’s the same for me too, Cal. I just - feel like I’ve known you for years. I like talking to you, you’re voice is like honey, so sweet and lovely.”

“Really? Wow! That’s a small world. Yeah, Bard is a nice guy. I’ve known him for years, his whole family has been to the Durin’s now, a few times, for the holidays, and just to hang out,” he told her, and he blushed when she  mentioned they dated, but were friends. “That’s great, that you dated, sorry it didn’t work out. I guess he wasn’t your soulmate. It’s good to be friends, though, you can always count on good friends.”

“Yeah, you’re right. I do tend to get teased all the bloody time. My family are a bunch of ball busters. You’ll see, they tease me to no end. But I love it, it wouldn’t be normal if they didn’t. Yeah, those boys are really loud. They can’t keep their mouths shut, for anything. But it’s all right, they just want their Uncle to be happy, or so they tell me.”

Thorin laughed and rubbed the back of his neck, and blushed at her words. “Yeah, I guess I did remember now. But, I swear, at the time, I really didn’t. My family will tell you, I can get lost in my own house.” He told her, as he stood up and helped her on with her coat, then slipped his on, waiting for her to walk with him.

“I think we’re going to need a lot more food.” Bilbo said, looking through the pantry.  He pulled out a block of cheese that was blue and held out before Thorin. “Also, tell Dwalin that this isn’t riddled with mold. It’s a blue cheese. It’s supposed to look that way. I got it from the market at the Shire three days ago. Although that makes me think I could make a cheese and tomato soup. I just hope it will be enough.”

Thorin smirked as he looked up from the book he had been reading, when he heard his husband’s voice. He closed his book, but not before remembering the page he was on. “Aye. Do you really think so, ghivashel?” he intoned, as he soon joined Bilbo in the pantry. He wrapped his arms around his hobbit’s waist, and pressed a kiss to the side of his neck. There they were in Bag End, and they had their group of dwarves joining them for another sumptuous supper.

He released his husband, and watched as he lifted the block of blue cheese, and he could never understand why something so disgusting looking was so delicious. He took the cheese, and winked at Bilbo. “Aye. I will tell him,amralime. You know that I believe you, but he is not as cultured at the best of times. You put this over a nice hunk of meat, he’ll eat it.”

Thorin chuckled as his husband continued to rattle on, but smiled and listened, nodding his head at the right times. “I think from what you are telling me, kurduh, is that we do have more than enough food, but if you wish me to, I will go to the market again and get more.”

Bard continued to gaze out into the sea, though the trance he found himself in was broken as he heard the balcony door slide open as his partner stepped out to join him. A smirk flashed on his face as he listened to Lucas, the man confirming his suspicions on how much the man had travelled for work. He always thought it was amusing how old cats like him would easily read things about those young and newer in the field. 

“I’ve been here several times, some for work, and some for me. First time I left here I always had this lingering feeling that I needed to come back. The warmth and ocean draw me here.” Bard didn’t mind sharing this little tidbit about himself as Lucas had already offered up some information about himself. “Guess I’m not the only one this place speaks to. Sounds like you’ll be coming back later on.” he looked over at Lucas, trying to read his expression under the moonlight. “You even look like how I felt when I first came in here.” 

Lucas smiled at Bard, and nodded his head as he listened to his words. He stared out over the vast ocean, admiring it, because he had always been in London, the concrete jungle, but this was simply overwhelming. He swallowed hard, as he gripped the railing of the balcony, and sighed.

“Yeah, I think I would like that. I could see myself retiring here - when I get older - you know - and the kind of place I could do that,” he spoke softly, as he turned to face Bard again. Under the moonlight the man was even more handsome, his eyes sparkling under the moonbeams.

Oh, man, he needed to stop this, he was here on a mission.  But, well, he couldn’t help it. This man breathed charisma, as if he had made it, and the magnetism was also there, drawing him in closer and closer. Fuck. He had to stop himself, he realised he was moving in closer to the man - not yet - he couldn’t do that yet. He wasn’t sure what predilection Bard was.

“Ah, yeah, well, it’s overwhelming when you come from the concrete jungle, you know?” Lucas intoned, as he grinned at Bard, and nodded his head, gripping the railing again.

“Well it sounds like your nephews are quite charming young men if they have followed in your footsteps…or at least behave somewhat like yourself.” She laughed. “Is there any relationship either one is in that you like to tease them about?”

“Well well, it seems i’m not the only hopeless romantic sitting at this table then. Figured i was the only one, but it seems to be the opposite in fact. Call it weird or whatever term you wish to use, but when i find someone, start talking to them & getting to know them & want to see them a lot, i start to imagine my life with them in it.”

“Yeah. I always believed that more than anything. Two people like the same things, they are good together,” Thorin intoned, as he smiled at her, and sipped his drink. He knew the time was getting late, and he should give her a lift home, but he couldn’t leave her company.

“Aye. That’s one word for it, charming. Two swindlers is another, and downright cheeky,” he laughed, and nodded his head. “Sure. Kili is dating a fiery redhead, named Tauriel. She works at the local TopShop clothing store, and she’s rather tall. And, well,  Fili is dating a lovely girl, Sigrid, who works with her father at his restaurant. They’re both at Uni, but have come home for a couple of weeks.”

Thorin blushed at her words, and finished off his drink, not ordering another one, since it was getting close to last call. “Indeed. That’s what my family calls me. It’s a lovely thing to know that we are both romantics. My family will tease you about that, as well, just so you know. They’re all a bunch of numpties sometimes. I think that’s a wonderful trait, I do the same thing. I can see us together - for certain, love.”

He jumped when the bartender rang the bell, and made the last call for drinks. “Aye. Looks like the place is getting ready to close. I want to give you a ride home, or to wherever you’re staying. My Beemer is just down the road.”

“I guess we have too. “ Dwalin didn’t want to let his emotions get the better of him after all it was only for four weeks and He could do it. It wasn’t like seeinf Thorins blues eyes and radiant smile or how laughed or looked up from under those eyes lashes. It wasn’t like it was killing Dwalin every second that Thorin was in front of him.

Why did both do them have to be a hot head and why couldn’t they put their differences aside for the sake of their marriage ?

“Here…..” Dwalin handed Thorin his favorite drink knowing the look on his lover…former lovers face. “ I know that look…why don’t rest for a second that scene is no good if you are like this.”

“Sorry, mate. I know this is hard - but we - just have to get through it. I have to say - you’re looking as handsome as ever,” Thorin answered, and kept his own emotions in check. What he really wanted to do was run to Dwalin and beg him to hold him, but he couldn’t do that. Not now. Not here in front of everyone.

He could feel his legs getting heavy, and started to stretch them out, and do some squats. When he stood up again, he was surprised to see Dwalin handing him a glass of coke. It was his favorite drink, but he wasn’t sure he should drink it. The caffeine would make him all jittery. Bloody hell if he didn’t take it anyway.

“Thanks, mate. Yeah. Perhaps we should sit down a bit. I’m feeling a bit shaky.”

Lucas nodded at Bard’s words, and relaxed a bit more. He would have the whole day to get his mindset acclimated. Not that it would be hard for him, he was good at what he did, and he could adapt to anything he set his mind to do.

“That’s a good thing. We can also take the time to go over more of the target’s specs. I have to say that I am very good at tracking and following the target without being seen, or detected. It’s a skillset I have perfected with each mission. But yes, I’m ready to relax a bit,” he intoned, and hoped he wasn’t talking too much. He couldn’t help himself, he was truly getting his mind wrapped around what he needed to do for this mission.

Lucas stopped talking, or rambling, as he thought he was, and moved toward the door to his room. Just as he opened it with his free hand, and was about to enter the room, he turned to Bard again when he spoke. “Sounds brilliant. I’m not really hungry right now, but I would like to join you on the balcony, if you wouldn’t mind. Once I’m settled in my room, I will join you there, yeah?”

A slight smile drew on his lips as Lucas talked about his skills in trailing a target, knowing full well that, it would indeed become very handy for him. He could already feel a plan on how they were going to proceed tomorrow staring to form, fully going to take advantage of relaxing on the balcony to piece together the details. “Perfect,” was all he could verbalize, tapping on the door trim as he moved away, intending to head back downstairs. 

Though Bard paused as Lucas spoke up, turning slightly to look at him as Lucas asked about joining him. “Of course. Make sure you grab something to eat, can’t have you starving.” Bard then turned back around, bounding down the stairs, going straight for the balcony door, sliding it open with ease and quickly shutting it behind him. 

He sighed as an warm ocean breeze comforted him as he stood there, glad to be able to get such small peaceful moments such as this. There was a round mesh wrought iron table sitting against the balcony safety railing, bringing guests as close to the ocean as they could get up there; with three chairs to match. Two sitting across from each other, and one chair in between. Bard took a seat in the chair to the left, looking out at the ocean as he allowed himself to enjoy a meditating moment.

“Yes, so it is, quite perfect,” Lucas answered, as he smiled at Bard again. He needed to keep his head on straight, and not let his feelings get too strong a hold on him. But, damn it, he couldn’t help it, this man was intriguing, and truly mesmerizing.

“Yeah, not really hungry right now. I will grab something later, perhaps a sandwich. I’m just going to put my things in my room, and I’ll see you in a moment,” he intoned, as he nodded his head at the other man. He quickly opened the door to his room, and placed his things on the dresser by the window. He noticed it was open, and could hear the sound of the ocean, but could not get a good view. He moved into the bathroom, and splashed cold water on his face, then he dried his hands.

Lucas didn’t spend anymore time in his room, as he quickly exited and moved to where Bard had mentioned the balcony would be. He gently pushed open the door, and was immediately hit with the refreshing air, and the smell of the ocean. He ran his fingers through his hair, and quietly moved to where Bard stood looking out over the balcony.

“Right, this is fantastic. I could get used to this. You know, Bard, this was one place I was never sent to on a mission. Mine were always more domestic, or in Europe proper, never to a place like this. Now that I’m here, I don’t think I ever want to leave,” he said, and hoped he hadn’t said too much. He quickly clamped his mouth, and stared out over the ocean, the waves crashing against the beach, and the moon was full, and bright, shining down on the water.

"Love?"

“Yes, my love? I am here. Are you all right? You were tossing and turning? Was it another strange dreams?” Thorin asked, as he woke from his sleep when he heard his husband calling out to him. He reached out and immediately wrapped his arms around Bilbo.

"Have you ever felt like we've met some time before in another life and that no matter what we were simply meant to be together? That our souls are bound to each other and we cannot exist without each other?"

Thorin stopped reading the book he had in his lap when Bilbo entered their living room, and spoke his words. He looked up at his husband, and smiled, then saw a flash of something in his mind, making him gasp for a moment. He cleared his mind, and then nodded his head. 

“Yes, love. I have to agree, I have felt something. Sometimes I have the strangest dreams of us - in a very different time. But - for some other reason - I feel that we always meet. I believe that we are soulmates, my Bilbo, my handsome husband,” he answered, as he patted the cushion of the sofa, for his husband to sit beside him.

"I confess that I may have stolen the Arkenstone, but it was for your own good, Ghivashel. Besides which, you stole something from me all over again - my heart." (Have some corny romance).

“Bilbo, I - I cannot - fault you for this, amrâlimê. I know, in my own heart - you did this - to save me. And you must believe that I no longer suffer from the gold sickness. I must confess that I too have had my own heart stolen by you, my burglar. Kurduh, Menu tessu. You are ûrzuduh ra gimiluh,” Thorin spoke his words gently, as he smiled down at Bilbo, his beloved hobbit.

They stood on the ruined stairs above the treasury. His mind was clear again, and all because of the love he felt for his hobbit. To know that Bilbo felt the same way, made his heart swell. He reached out and grasped one of his hobbit’s hands in his own, “I would be honored if you would stay with me - here in Erebor. If you would accept my courtship, and be my consort, and for us to wed. Once Erebor is rebuilt. Will you stay with me, Umralê
