This is a sincere appreciation to all the people who have supported me from the beginning of my scholastic career and experiences. From the moment I began in Pre-K at St. Therese Schools to Paramus Catholic HS, too receiving my Associates in Science from Bergen Community and finally commencing today with my Bachelors in Jurisprudence & Law🖌. Words could never explain the journey I have been through these last 23 years of my life. In the last 23 years, I’ve faced being classified as a child and told because of the color of my skin, the way I would act, and where I come from that I could never amount to anything. I remember for a long time I struggled with the pain of being pushed aside, neglected, and dismissed by the same educators I expected to impact my development as a student, leader and individual, but many times I got everything but that or less. Attending the finest institutions in your local town, city doesn’t determine the person you will be. Growing up around Drugs, Crime, Poverty & Pure hate doesn’t determine the person you will be. Losing some of the closes people in your life without control or with spite because all that you wanted to be and could be was a threat to them, doesn’t determine who you will or will not be. See, I’ve faced backlash, hatred from the people I would least expect it from, & I got knocked down, but every time I was pushed, tripped, forced into failure, I overcame these objections, I did it for you all, I did it for my family, but undoubtedly, I did it for ME. The one and only thing I have ever placed as a priority in my life above all was these Degrees. These opportunities to be better than I was yesterday, much better than I was 18+ years ago when they looked at a little Black Boy and didn’t believe he could ever be anything but a #. This is bittersweet. Over the past 6 years between both my College Degrees in different fields, that same little Black Boy had something those people never expected him to have, The Passion, The Ambition, The Urge to want to be much more than what they predicted me to be. Today, I owe this all to you. Wifey, Dad & Mom, Bestfriends/Family. Thank you for always supporting what was left of me🙏🏾❤ (at Prudential Center)
