The votes, or rather vote, is in and we shall be turning to page 72 of "The Valley of the Kings." Anyway, we can't get our book bag back, so it turns out to be all for nothing. Anyway, it turns out we are on our way to Cairo now. Jeeze, did I mistakenly say we were in Cairo last time?

Anyway, we continue on and find Cairo, like Alexandria, is much the same.

We reach the hotel, then are instructed to get a guide, who proves very informative.

We then reach our next crossroads when we take the opportunity to ditch Miss Seymour.

Just as Disney got their own series of "Choose Your Own Adventure" books, so too did the television series "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles." Thus, we begin "The Valley of the Kings", based on the first half of the premier episode. For the most part it starts of as a recreation of scenes from the episode.

Then we reach this page. Indy/we arrive in Egypt and some kid suddenly steals our book bag and we get our first choice of what to do.

The votes are in and people chose to turn to Page 34 for "Sleeping Beauty and the Prince." Anyway, our character falls asleep and ends up missing everything. When we wake up, everyone is asleep, Aurora has pricked her finger and we don't know what to do.

Luckily, Philip arrives, having saved the day. He awakens Aurora with a kiss, everyone lives happily ever after, we just have to find our dog, the end.

As I am restricted to what I can find on the Internet Archive, I am sad to say I cannot find anymore of this series, but that does not mean I cannot find anymore Choose Your Own Adventure books. Who knows, maybe next week will be one of the mainline books, though I doubt it will get many votes.

The votes are in and people chose to turn to Page 16 for "Sleeping Beauty and the Prince." So, we bring Aurora home and she is embraced by her father Stefan, something I don't recall happening in the film so that's nice. Stefan looks alright, costuming being the wrong colour aside, but Hubert's colouration is completely wrong. Aurora objects to marrying Philip on the grounds she loves another and Hubert's expression says "Philip loves another too, can we go through with this?" at least that's how I see it, but Stefan is just like "You need rest, go to your room."

Anyway, our character and Aurora go up to her room, apparently without anyone to show us the way. Aurora suggests our character should look for our dog Lance, but should we?

Anyway, we go with Briar Rose to her cottage, meet her aunts and learn their true identities as Aurora and the three fairies, but Diablo has been spotted by Merryweather.

It seems we missed the scene where magic was being used to make everything. We are left with two options: stop Diablo or get Aurora to the palace.

Here we begin the Disney Choose Your Own Adventure "Sleeping Beauty and the Prince." Anyway, we get the backstory and then our character walking through the forest Aurora is said to be hiding in. I don't think the King and Queen would told everyone where the Fairies took Aurora.

So, sure enough, we meet a girl named Briar Rose and while we outside of the book know who that is, our character does not. Anyway, our dog Lance wanders off and this is where we get our first choices.

The votes are in and people chose to turn to Page 28 for "Alice's Wonderland Adventure." Anyway, we look for the White Rabit's gloves, go in the closet and then get trapped.

Anyway, we get out, find Alice nowhere to be seen and go looking for her.

We search for Alice and find her with the Queen of Hearts.

And then our character wakes up and it is all over.

The votes are in for "Alice's Wonderland Adventure" and people chose to turn to Page 14. Anyway, we follow the White Rabbit and find ourselves recruited to get the Rabbit's gloves.

Anyway, we go in to find the gloves, during which our character finds a cookie jar with Alice thinking the search is impossible.

And then we get the idea to maybe have some cookies since we are hungry, but we, meaning the readers not our character, knows what will happen, so this all depends on what everyone wants to happen next.

This would be from the Edison Marshall novel "Earth Giant" published in 1960, a Euhemeristic retelling of the Heracles myth told from his perspective.

Hippolyta is portrayed as the Queen of Cimmeria and is sometimes called "Queen of the Ambozad" because her citadel is on the river of the same name. The society she rules is not all women, the roles are basically just reversed with the men cooking, cleaning, weaving, priding themselves on beautiful needlework while the women till the fields, butcher meat, attend flocks and herds, fell trees and saw wood and build houses and byres.

Hippolyta's people are portrayed as a mixture of Celt and "Tartar", the latter being what we of the modern day call the ethnic groups that are Manchus, Mongols and Turks.

This is overall very appealing to me because it is not the run-of-the-mill "all-female warrior society" and it is not the stereotypical "being from Greek mythology means they must look Greek" thing.

Then we go out into a garden, find Alice and the White Rabbit runs by.

Ended up re-reading one of the original MOTU comics and I completely forgot about Skeletor wanting Teela for his bride. Good lord, imagine something similar with their ThunderCats counterparts. Mumm-Ra wanting Cheetara for his bride... That's... Nightmarish.

Anyway, we follow Alice and go down the rabbit hole as well.

The votes are in and people chose to turn to Page 20 for "Dumbo's Circus."

So we go into the tunnel.

We get chased out by a train and end up trapped in a storm. Well, that's it, that's the end.

Read this in an old magazine called "Cavalcade" while trying to find the article "I Walked With a Zombie" by Inez Wallace. Here are some things I'd thought I'd highlight.

Flocked to Athens? What? Did James Holledge only know Helen was the queen of Sparta and presume she had been born elsewhere? He portrays Menelaus as King of Sparta already, so I presume that is the case, but that is very much not the case originally: Helen was Spartan born and Menelaus Mycenean born, he was King of Sparta by marriage.

To his credit, Holledge does not villainize Menelaus... He just goes ahead and villainizes Helen instead.

Holledge romanticizes Paris like so many do and he describes Menelaus' absence as him going on campaign in Crete. What? No! He went to his uncle's funeral in Crete! Unless there was a civil war going on with his cousin having to defend his throne from a usurper following the funeral that I never heard about, I don't think that is correct.

Agamemnon is mentioned, but besides being identified as Menelaus' brother, there is no reason stated for why he is the leader of the Achaean army. Holledge doesn't mention the fact that as basically the high king, Agamemnon was essentially the supreme leader or the number of ships that he brought. He doesn't even specify that Agamemnon is the elder, so for all we know he could be Menelaus' younger brother in this.

Yeah, sure. That is exactly it, it's not like Helen could have been forced into the marriage against her will or anything.

I will admit I like this bit so the sons are of a rival of Helen. That is a good way to reimagine the son of a slave thing and gives the mother more agency. I don't know, maybe. I personally prefer the version where Nicostratus is Helen's son, but for some reason Holledge does not mention any of Helen's children.

Anyway, Disney wouldn't allow our character to die, so Dumbo saves us.

Thus, Dumbo takes us for a ride and we reach our next crossroads.
