Another bit I had fun writing for the @kingdom-hearts-moros RP server. Brain's daughter is played by another player so I had fun creating some feels.
Remember, KH Moros is a 21+ RP server with open canon spots.
Premise: Brain meets his little girl for the first time.
Words: 1,168

Heart pounding in his chest, his hand clasps in hers. Admittedly, her grip is crushing and he wants so badly to pull away, but he can’t, not now. She’d never forgive him. And right now, she needs him.
Still, the man is an utter mess of confused and a little fearful. He has no idea what’s going on.
Then, through all the screaming and encouragement, a cry cuts through it all. His ears catch on the frail sound, reaching all the way to tug at his heart. As the woman at the foot of the bed stands, he manages to catch a glimpse of the tiny, pink thing, his whole world frozen for just a moment.
And then it’s gone. Whisked away by a nurse, the crying fades. Part of him wants to take chase, but then another squeeze clamps down on his hand, threatening to break his fingers. All his attention turns back to the woman on the bed and, even as he endures her digging nails and pained expression, he can’t help thinking that this is most beautiful person in the world.
Having endured the worst of it, he flexes his aching fingers.
“I’m sorry, sweetheart.”
Immediately, his action stops, a fool’s grin donning his face.
“Don’t worry about it, darlin’. ‘Sides, it’s probably nothing compared to what you went through. Hell, I’d let you break both my hands if it helped.” That idiocy softens to something more genuine and proud. Fingers slide caress gently through her hair, brushing some from her face with the lightest touch. “You’re amazing, you know that?”
How she even has the energy to blush is beyond him, but it only makes his heart flutter a little more.
“People give birth every day, Brain,” she argues weakly.
“But they’re not you.”
Her eyes roll, but even she smiles at his lovesick words. “You’re hopeless.”
“Absolutely.” Sneaking his hand into hers, he lifts it to his lips. “That’s why you’re not allowed to leave me.”
“No, not because I just gave birth to your child?”
“Oh you definitely can’t leave me alone with the baby—I have no idea what I’m doing.”
Feeble fingers snag the front of his shirt. He complies easily with the weakened tug, leaning in until his forehead presses to hers. Glittering eyes flutter shut, long lashes gracing such supple skin. She looks so at peace, in this intimate little moment.
“If you treat her half as well as you treat me, then I have no doubt she’s in good hands.”
The argument dies on his tongue, captured by her lips closing the gap. Immediately, he falls complacent, giving in to her every whim as he always does. It leaves him in a serene bliss, whisking away all his troubles and worries as though they never existed. All that matters is this moment, where his only concern is making this wonderful, perfect, beautiful woman happy—even if she is a little crazy for loving him.
“There’s the new parents!”
Brain shoots bolt right so quickly, he stumbles into the bedside chair. Fire sears along his spine, crawling up into his ears and across his face in embarrassment. Thankfully, the nurse spares him any remark, instead focusing on carefully passing the little bundle to the mother. Seeing the tears well in her eyes almost has him worried, until she smiles, looking up at Brain.
“She’s perfect.”
His gaze shifts to the gap in pink fabric where a tiny face sleeps soundly, so pure and innocent. Admittedly, his knees almost give at the way his heart studders. She is perfect. Before he can collapse, Brain pulls the chair closer and takes a seat, folding his arms on the bed to stare at the two most important people in his life, wearing a soft smile all the while.
Inevitably, his wife’s exhaustion begins to get the better of her. No matter how much she might want to stay awake and watch the baby, her eyelids begin to droop.
A light knock alerts Brain as he sits up and the nurse returns.
“Is she asleep?”
“Just now.”
The woman tsks and bustles closer. “It’s very important not to fall asleep while holding the baby. It’s dangerous. But oh, the poor thing really should rest.”
Brain sits back as the nurse approaches to carefully lift the baby from his wife’s arms. Then, without warning, she hands off the little bundle to him.
“Ah, h-hey—”
The sharp “shh!” instantly silences him. Firm hands adjust his arms as if he were a doll, but he dares not resist. The whole ordeal leaves him somewhat dumfounded as the nurse quickly checks the sleeping mother and simply scurries away, leaving him stranded, baffled, and very, very anxious.
For the first ten—fifteen—minutes, Brain barely breathes, afraid that any small movement might harm or wake the sleeping child. Honestly, he didn’t really think he’d get this far; not that it wouldn’t happen, but he just never thought of this moment—where he’d actually be holding his own child in his arms. It’s terrifying, but the more he stares at that peaceful little face, the more enchanted he becomes.
This little girl is the daughter of his wife: the most perfect, patient, kind, loving person to ever exist. She’s the result of their love and all the happiness they shared. She’s going to have the best mother looking after her, to guide her into being such an amazing person. She’s perfect and Brain has to be the luckiest man alive to be her father.
But she wasn’t so lucky.
The somber thought coils in his chest like a python. For all the wonderful qualities her mother has, Brain is none of those things. He’s not confident, cool, or considerate, and the way he grew up will forever haunt him—especially that time he…
No, he can’t follow that rabbit hole. Not again.
Letting loose a sigh, he stares at the girl, now full of pity rather than pride. He’s not fit to raise her. There’s not a single promise in his life that he’s kept and the number of people he’s let down is more than he can count. Hell, he can barely take care of himself; he’d probably be dust in the Scala archives if it wasn’t for his wife. There’s no way he could guarantee anything better for this kid. She’d be so much better off without him being the worst example of mankind.
A tear drips down his face, though the man smiles. The words almost rasp in his throat, rough with the apology he’s about to make.
“Sorry you’re stuck with me. Don’t worry, I’ll let your mother do all the parenting; you’ll be in good hands with her.”
Arms tighten just the slightest as his head drops, her little forehead meeting his.
“But no matter what happens, no matter where I go, don’t ever forget, I’ll always love you.” Carefully, his lips brush the top of her little head. “My little Nixe.”

Here's a little bit I wrote for Brain in the KH Moros RP server.
Premise: Brain has the unfortunate job of telling a mourning mother she must give up her son.
Words: 1,508
~~~~~
Weary boots trudge through the city streets, weighed down by the weary thoughts of treacherous secrets. So many miserable things swim around in his head—in his chest. Conversations must be had; consequences must be doled out, no matter how much these things may hurt. And they are going to hurt.
But first, he has to ensure the boy is safe.
Turning into the gated courtyard, the elder trudges to the front door. A hand raises to knock, but he hesitates. What was he going to say? How would she react? Would she even believe him?
With his heart sinking even lower, the man knocks on the door and awaits the answer.
With a creak, the ornate door opens to reveal a beautiful young woman, marred with a deep sorrow. Fair skin is nearly ghost white, red stains rimming her silver gaze. Sleek, black tresses are somewhat dull and ruffled. She certainly wasn’t expecting him, but it’s clear she’s still in mourning.
“Master Brain,” she greets, a soft crack in her voice. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”
Oh how he hates to do this.
“Are you alone?”
Ebony brows furrow. “Just me and the baby. Is everything alright?”
Brain’s eyes shift across the yard. “I need to speak with you—someplace private.”
Still uncertain, she steps aside to let the master inside and closes the door with a lock.
“Would you like something to drink?” It’s sad to see her still playing the host at a time like this.
“No, please don’t worry about me.”
Her suspicion grows. “What is this about?”
He still hasn’t found the words to tell her. Trying to bide his time, he waves to the study. “We should sit.”
She wants answers—it’s clear to see—but she follows Brain’s lead into the study and takes a seat. Brain’s skin tingles beneath her gaze; she knows something is wrong and that she’s not going to like it, yet poor Brain has to be the bearer of bad news.
“What do you know?” she demands, perched in her chair.
Brain sits on the sofa, feeling like a child about to admit to breaking the rules. Again, he hesitates, but he can’t keep dodging what he came here to do.
“I have reason to believe your husband’s disappearance was staged.”
Every muscle in her body turns rigid, lips pursing as she tries to process the implication behind his statement.
“You think someone murdered my husband…” she murmurs.
“I do,” he answers, nearly just as quiet, as if their words might shatter everything they know.
A knife jams into his chest when he sees the tears begin to fall.
“Why would you think that? My husband was a good man; a good warrior!” A hiccup interrupts her. “Who could possibly do something so terrible? When we had a baby on the way…”
The words fall from his lips. “The Founders…”
Hey eyes widen. “The Founders?”
“I’m…sorry. I’m so sorry.” His vision falters and the man leans forward, elbows on his knees. “They aren’t happy with me and…and they’re afraid they’re losing control, because of the things I said…”
Her voice holds not scorn nor hysteria which she deserves to express, but instead, it relays her disbelief.
“And he supported you…He died because he supported you…”
This is the part he dreaded the most.
“Because he supported me…and because he was descended from Ephemer.”
“Descended from Grand Master Ephemer?”
Now the fear sets in. Brain’s jaw clenches, trying to hold strong for the break he knows is coming.
A hand clenches at the armrest, knuckles bone white.
Her question is almost a whisper. “Then what about my son?”
It’s hard to say these next words, but he refuses to hold back—it would be wrong to.
“If they don’t come for me next…they’ll come for him.”
A hand presses to her mouth, desperate to contain the surmounting grief. Yet all Brain can do is sit and watch what his words do—what they did.
Trying to wipe away the tears and fight down her panic, she asks, “So wh-what do I do? How do I stop this? I can’t lose him too! I can’t lose my baby!”
Teeth worry at his bottom lip. He’s thought long and hard about this, only able to come up with two options, neither of which she will like.
“You can either stay here with him and I will do all I can to keep you both safe, but in the heart of Scala, I can’t guarantee that will be any good.”
A shuddering breath escapes her. “Or?”
His throat feels tight. “Or I have someone who’s reliable and capable—who would give their life for this task—who can keep him safe far away from here.”
That utter heartbreak rattles him.
“You want me to give my new born son to a stranger?! To lose the only part of my husband that I have left?! How could you?!”
“I know! I know. I’m sorry. But it’s the only way to guarantee he’ll be safe.” He knew this would be the worst part. “If you both disappear, they’ll know you ran off with him and they will hunt you down until they’ve snuffed out the last of Ephemer’s bloodline. At least this way, we can pass it off as SIDS and both of you will be safe.”
Leaning forward, she cries into her hands as she’s probably done many times these past few months. It’s a terrible, miserable situation, but he owes it to Ephemer and he will do what he has to in order to keep his family safe.
“I can give you three days to think about it.”
He gaze rises, devastation writ on her face.
“Three?”
“In three days my ally will go on a mission that will end ‘fatally’ and will be able to leave Scala without being suspected. You’ll have to decide by then what you want to do.”
She falls back into her despair, no longer responsive.
“I’m so…so sorry.”
~~~~~ 3 Days Later ~~~~~
Brain waits just beyond the courtyard, staring through the arch at the memorial to the original founder of Scala.
I’m sorry it’s come to this, buddy. I hope you can forgive me.
Today is the deciding day and he’s been anxious ever since he offered that poor woman her ultimatum. It didn’t help that he had to continue interacting with the Founders to ensure they remained none the wiser. Still, biting his tongue knowing that they had condemned such a young family certainly tasted bitter. Maybe one day he’ll have at them, but for now, his priority is the widow and her infant son.
The soft tapping of shoes lifts his gaze. To his surprise, the woman is there, looking somehow worse than when he last visited her. In her arms is a fragile white bundle that she clings to as if to never let go.
His voice rasps. “You’ve decided then?”
The woman gives a solemn nod, peering down at the wrapped blanket as she sniffles.
The young boy rests in utter peace, unaware of the tragedy happening around him. Soft, olive cheeks round out his newborn face with an adorable tuft of silver hair atop his head that almost reminds Brain of his lost friend. To be so young and yet to be torn from all that loves him like this—it’s such a damn shame.
Trying not to second guess himself, Brain gestures to the arch.
“Through there, you’ll see a figure in a blue robe; they’ll take good care of him.”
She chokes down another sob and gives her child one last, firm hug, before making her way through the archway.
Brain watches, all the while his heart is breaking. He should’ve been more careful with his allies. He should’ve been more careful with his words. Because of him, this poor woman has to give up what remains of her family just so he has a chance to live. Epehemer’s last descendant will grow up never knowing his family or the work they put into protecting the world order and that’s on Brain. When will he ever learn to leave well enough alone.
Quick footsteps drag the man from his somber musings. The woman, now bereft of her infant son, races back through the arch way and straight into the master. Her arms slip beneath his, holding fast with what strength she has left. When the uncontrollable sobbing overwhelms her, he can’t help but return the embrace, tears dripping into her hair.
“You did good. He’ll be safe now.”
It’s unclear if those words are for her or for himself, but he speaks them regardless.
“He’ll grow up to be big an’ strong. And one day, he’ll come back to us.”
He lifts his head, looking through the archway where blue-robed figure walks away. Over a shoulder, the baby’s face peeks at him, silver eyes blinking sleepily as he lets out a yawn.
