The child walking around Kamuatari is stopped by another kid around their height. This one with a paper bag of dessert balls and light purple hair in two hair buns on each side of her head. She makes a soft ‘oh?’ Looking at the almost-crying child who reminded her a lot of her older sister.

"Don’t cry! Are you hungry? It’ll be okay!"

*Kit sniffles softly.*

I-I got lost.... I don't know were they went!

Xinxin tilted her head, stuffing her mouth with more of the finger food pastries.

"Where who went?"

Mr Goka! And Zanka! They're keeping an eye on me.

"Oh! I know them!"

Xinxin turned the bag towards Kit, offering the pastry balls like that would make everything better.

"Biǎo gē Goka and Zanka are probably busy! You can come with me, though!"

*A pastry ball is taken as Kit nods slowly.*

I'll go with you then. I'm Kitrina Pierre. It's nice to meet you.

"I’m Xinxin! I’m from the Tian Pavilion!" She explained, finally taking notice of the dangly earrings. Ohhhh.

"Come! We can go to where we stay and wait for Biǎo gē!"

Goka was quick to shake his head before letting out a long sigh. "What is there to talk about? I got my ass kicked by a younger version of myself."

"Maybe talk about what you think about that?"

"Shame. A younger version of myself beat me. I should have won."

"Not everyday we meet a younger version of ourselves, I’m sure you’ll get him next time." Weide pat him on the shoulder as if that was any comfort. "And what do you actually think about what he said?"

"It was true. I'm older but I'm not smarter than him or anything."

“Alright… that’s a start.” Weide nodded. “Ayaka thinks you don’t like her. Could you imagine being shunned and hated by your big sibling?”

"I don't. I would find it understandable. I'm the least impressive out of us three."

“Okay, well. I don’t think so.” Weide scoffed. “Why do you think you’re not as impressive as Ayaka or Kyouka?”

"You never hear anyone talking about me being impressive do you? It's all about Kyouka and Ayaka."

"Nah. Mostly just people telling me about how scary and mean you are." He smirked. “It’s hard to see the good in people when they’re constantly negative."

"I no longer feel like continuing this conversation." Goka said turning around.

"Look, Goka—" Weide grabbed his shoulder and pulled him back, pulling his arm away as Goka obviously was stronger than him.

"You’re allowed to have your own opinions and be angry, but you’re not allowed to be a dick because of it. You can do better than that."

"Well, that was rough. Wanna’ talk about it?"

Erik: I rambled about literary tropes for thirty minutes to the guard, who was around my siblings age, and he got sick of me by the time I got to the importance of the miscommunication trope and how it's often misused.... I think the guy was put out before he properly finished training.

"Hmmmmm." Yanmin tilted her head, smirking and pursing her lips at the fact that Erik seemed so… normal talking. It was strange that he actually belonged there.

Weide stepped to stand behind Erik, the three surrounding him as they spoke. "And why are you here?"

Erik: I came to visit Zanka. We went on a courting date together. He's good company and I've enjoyed our time together so far.

Erik states as he does his best to keep them all within line of sight.

With Weide standing behind him, Yanmin to his angled left and Anguo to his right, it was sort of hard to keep them within exact sight without stepping back and making it obvious of discomfort.

"Who approved of this courting date?" Weide asked suspiciously.

Erik: We did. I don't think either of our families would have approved if we had told them directly. I just told my family I had a courting date without informing them of who it was.

Weide and Yanmin hummed, Yanmin crouched down slightly to better look at Erik, gawking and staring as the three tried to intimidate him.

"So… you’re not supposed to be here?"

She concluded, the three of them exchanging a look.

"Mei, I got somethin I need to report. It ain't good." Tay says as he heads over to Keir.

"What, you and the former emperor have become friends and started gossiping whilst braiding each other’s hair? Sounds like my worst nightmare."

She sighs, though gestures for Sword to continue

"I wish it were that simple. But nah. Found poison in a tea pot. A light poison but a poison nonetheless. And 'm pretty sure it wasn't meant for our favorite stick in the ass."

"Mhm…?" Meilan wasn’t surprised to hear this, though the idea of it not being for her older brother was something she didn’t like. "We think this why? I assume you already have an idea of who was targeted?"

"I did the basic information gathering. An extra unknown person touched the pot before the tea was ever brewed to put the poison in the pot itself. The pot was one that Xingzhi wouldn't usually use. It was a replacement bought for Yafen... The effects on the usual person is simply basic sickness. A fever for a weekend at worst. But for a pregnant woman. Miscarriage would have been a likely outcome. The finger prints were faded in a way indicating the poison was added preemptively."

"Meaning that this was most likely a targeted attack on Yafen." Mei nodded, pulling out a pocketbook and noting down this information. Considering the prior events with Yafen or her children, it was beginning to be seen as a bigger problem.

"Has an investigation on the owner of the fingerprints been started?"

"I've started ma own investigation. Got a few suspects but nothin concrete. The finger prints were old so an exact match has been difficult to locate."

"I see." Meilan noted this down, deciding she’d need to do her own investigation of the situation and pocketing her notebook again.

"I’ll head back to the Pavillion then. You wouldn’t mind replacing the angry old man for a younger, pregnant, woman, no?"

Tay shrugs. "I can manage. Hold a fer a second." He pulls out a small bag. "Here we got all the evidence I've collected so far. The prints, the list of folks it couldn't have been, the whole shebang." He says as he passes over the bag.

Mei nods and takes the bag, briefly looking over its contents before confirming that this wasn’t some bs. "You do good work." She compliments genuinely, zipping the bag back up and placing it in her own satchel.

"Why not get a position as a knight or a guard? I’m sure you’d get a lot more money there."

"Mei, I got somethin I need to report. It ain't good." Tay says as he heads over to Keir.
