Covid 19. What a Beautiful mess it is.
Covid 19 was first discovered to Wuhan, a city in Eastern China with a population of over 11 million on December 31 2019. It is a respiratory illness that is transmitted via droplet transmission and can cause pneumonia, inflammation of the lungs and severe acute respiratory syndrome. What started as an epidemic has now become a world known pandemic with a case of 1,485,981 confirmed cases and 88,567 deaths, according the John Hopkins University Covid-19 dashboard, which collates information from national and international health authorities. The disease has been detected in more than 200 countries and territories, with Italy, the US and Spain experiencing the most widespread outbreaks outside of China.
Well let's be honest, when the virus was first disclosed in public, we never imagined it to be this serious right? We all thought that it's just a normal virus or a virus that is similar to common cold that will surely vanished in just a day if you leave it as is. Well aren't we all wrong. Because it turns out that it is a serious problem that cannot be ignored. This just somehow proved that this generation does not care anymore, that it doesn't have any compassion and concern to others. "As long as it doesn't affect me, I don't care at all." How can I say that? well look at us now. We're panicking, we're lacking at knowledge, materials, man power, on stocks, discipline, and competent. All in all I can say we are a mess. Why? you ask? it's simple because we never care, I mean look we never even bother to took the news seriously, we didn't even bother to read or educate ourselves on how it spreads, how we can protect ourselves, or how we can provide equipments and materials. We took everything lightly as long as it doesn't affect us. It saddening how that kind of bad habit of us became a behavior for us Filipinos or should I say for us humans. But amidst the mess of the pandemic there's still a silver lining. Just like the saying "When there is Darkness, let there be light."
This pandemic made me realize how crucial it is to give a care to any detail no matter how small or big the detail is, whether it affects us or not. Just a simple care or gesture can be a big help to anyone. Looking at the current situation you'll clearly see the affection and care that our front liners is giving to us. They're sacrificing their own life for our lives, their own happiness and time for our own happiness and time. And this made me admire their bravery, hard work, and passion that they willingly give out to others and not asking anything in return. As a future nurse that still has a long way to go, I'll do my best to be just like them, to be as passionate and caring as our current front liners. That no matter how hard life can get I'll give my best to overcome any obstacle and problems in order for me to share my knowledge and skills to anyone who will need it without anything in return.
