His eyes lock with the other’s and for a moment, the REST of the world seems to disappear, unable to help the own smile that crawls onto his features at the sight of Oswald’s smile. He merely nods his head, leaning forward as he presses a gentle kiss upon Oswald’s lips, “Yes. I want YOU. And we’ve sort OF been dating for awhile. Why not try making it official?” Though he pulls away, brown hues searching the other’s blue hues, “What do you say? You want to erm…try? Being…boyfriends?”

it had certainly been a while since he had felt hugo’s lips pressed against his own, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. it was something that oswald couldn’t process, not entirely. he wasn’t used to having something this good in his life. “yes, i suppose that in a way we have. as complicated as things have certainly been.” he pauses, gazing at the other. it was a rather large step, to finally admit that things were that serious between them. so far in oswald’s life, everyone that he had loved was dead. ed hated him. things didn’t exactly go well whenever he let someone in. “i don’t have the best track record, with people that i care about, hugo. people around me get hurt. i’d prefer that not happening to you.”

How COULD he stay mad at Oswald? It was impossible and it was like Hugo was practically putty in this man’s hands and he couldn’t HELP it. A soft sigh emits from his lips as he takes a step forward, lifting his head as brown hues meet with the other’s, “And I’m not GOING to give up on you, okay? So maybe start trusting me.” He lifts his hand to cup the other’s cheek, resting his forehead against Oswald’s, “I just want to be with you.” Hugo admits honestly, thumb caressing the other’s cheek as he pulls away, eyes locking with the other, “So Oswald Cobblepot. You want to be my boyfriend?”

oswald didn’t expect the hand cupping his cheek, and it was enough for him to give the slightest hint of a smile. just enough to show that he WAS listening to what hugo said. though, trust was never an easy thing for him. he had been betrayed countless times by those that he had allowed close. it was enough to keep oswald distant from people. “i know,” he says softly. there’s a small sigh, though at the next words hugo spoke, there was a moment of confusion. “--you want that?? still??”

       he was never too certain of what ed WANTED anymore. it was disconcerting to him, given that ed was truly the one person that he knew the best. at least, oswald had thought that were the case. he had OPENED up to the other, had thought that perhaps things could be different between them. he had even hoped that his best friend could actually feel the same way about him, that he felt for ed. FALLING IN LOVE was not as pleasant of a feeling as he had imagined, not when the feelings were unrequited. perhaps that was the most painful thing of all. oswald had SEEN the look on ed’s face whenever he had spoken about love between the two of them. he had seen the disgust and horror there. his hopes had been risen for nothing. 

        “i am truly happy to see you, my dear friend. though, i’m CURIOUS as to wha --” the words were cut off when he felt himself being pushed back. stumbling, icy blue orbs widened as he glanced up at ed once his back had pressed against the wall, certain that the other was going to hurt him. but those thoughts were quashed when he felt lips against his own. oswald had DREAMT of such a thing occurring between the two of them, and yet he had been certain it would never become reality. yet, here he was, pressed against a wall as ed kissed him. and it was everything that oswald had imagined it to be. once the shock had worn off, arms were snaking around the other, eyes sliding shut as he pressed back into the kiss, his emotions GETTING the best of him.

        this should have been expected, and yet, even as oswald was pressed back against the wall, there was still a MOMENT of surprise as lips pressed against his. it had certainly been some time since he had been kissed ( especially like this from hugo ) and it still sent a rush of emotions through him despite how much he tried to shove them all down out of habit. hands reached up to tangle into red locks as he returned to kiss, icy blue eyes sliding shut as he allowed himself to ENJOY this.

     “the thought has occurred to me given that i am rather certain ed has pieced together that i was the one who killed isabella after i slipped up and revealed my feelings. i would prefer it not to happen, of course, given that i do still love ed, but i cannot let him hurt someone else i care for.”

Excuse me if my patience is wearing THIN.” Though already he finds his anger evaporating. It wasn’t like Hugo got mad often and even when he DID get angry, it never lasted long. A sigh emits from his lips when he catches sight of the other, “It could be because you’re insanely passionate, really intuitive, caring when you want to me and the most ambitious person I’ve ever met.” MERLIN. He was softening up already, “STILL doesn’t give you the right to be an arsehole to the one person who has always been there for you, who has never given up on you and who has literally done NOTHING wrong but love you. I don’t know what more you want from me!”

he couldn’t deny those words. hugo had given him plenty of opportunities but oswald was far too stubborn for his own good. it was understandable that the other would be getting impatient and attempting to move on. but truly, oswald was a SELFISH man, wasn’t he?? his gaze lifts back up to hugo at the next words, uncertainty in his eyes. he was always so HESITANT with these sorts of things. “i know that i have not been the easiest person to get along with, nor will that change anytime soon. but i am...aware that you have never given up on me. and i do appreciate that, hugo.”
