Harry looked to the images, trying to pick out anything Merlin hadn’t yet mentioned but this was certainly something very different indeed.
A Capital city, public warnings, a biological threat unleashed on an aware public.
This could complicate matters.
“…I’ll need to get a full briefing on this man’s past, his political beliefs, things he may have access to…I’m sure we’ll find the time to establish a good reason for me being there…”
He looked idly to the fireplace as Merlin asked if he got enough sleep.
“…I slept well enough.” he replied, his face the perfect example of ‘poker face’. “…And I’m sure I’ll stand up to the challenge, Merlin. Have no fear.”
When he was dismissed, he got up, buttoned his jacket and walked straight out towards the desk. Looking to neither Merlin, nor Arthur.
“…Anybody in?” he asked, gesturing to the door, knowing at this hour it was unlikely any customers were in there.
“I’ll have everything you need.” Merlin was also very poker faced, he needed to be in front of Arthur, and he was proud of Harry for passing his little test.
“Meet me in my office, Galahad.” Merlin waited until he was out of the room before he turned back to Arthur. “I could have the Rainmaker finished tonight if I work late, I can have it field tested by morning. I’d like to send it with Galahad tomorrow if I can have it properly vetted before then, the weather will lend itself to an umbrella tomorrow and it’ll be easier for him to slip past security. The conditions are right for a field test after I run a few more private tests.”
Arthur appeared to be thinking it over; he sometimes made decisions that made Merlin’s life difficult, so he did not know what to expect him to say, but the elderly man eventually nodded. “If you can assure me of its safety, I’ll allow it.”
“Thank you. If you’ll excuse me, I have an agent to train.”
The man standing behind the desk nodded cordially. “The room is empty, it’s all yours, sir.”
