Okay so I made a list of 30 (well, 29 actually) prompts I am releasing into the wild. The point of this is that at least one of the participants are not having a good time.

okay science side of bloodymary-tumblr, i got a question ☝️ would simon get any kind of infection in his wounds in grace's biodome or is the place (and grace himself) sterilized beyond measure? my quick research suggests that he might but these medical sources aren't accounting for scifi/fully enclosed environment scenarios and i don't need the AI summary to tell me what it thinks i want to hear

so, the idea i've got right now is that he gets decontaminated like first thing and the infection unexpectedly sets in later, just wanna see if that makes sense

Apparently bloodymary is drowning out the Iron Lung tag... Probably the PHM tag too. It does sound reasonable to keep them more separate. Gonna tag bloodymary with only that and not the other two from now on ig!

Thank you for bringing up the bullshit BM haters' try to air out, it's genuinely so annoying. The tags thing I can somewhat emphasize with, but like you said the main issue is with how Tumblr handles blocked tags by not actually hiding them, not with how people are tagging things. It's not incorrect to tag crossover things with their parent fandoms and actors, they were meant to function like that.

And the AO3 complainers are so very entitled. People were not suddenly going to be writing fics/making art for a different ship or the solo fandoms if BM never existed. There simply would be less fics and art in both fandoms at large. In fact, there is probably MORE fics for different ships and the solo fandoms because of BM introducing each other's fandoms to people than there would be if the crossover never got popular.

And obviously, nobody has to like BM! It's not for everyone and that's fine!! But hating on fans of it because they're jealous/bitter of it's popularity will only ever cause people to either never engage and create for the type of content they want more of, OR cause people to draw away from the fandom altogether and eventually kill it off because of that.

I absolutely sympathize with the blocked tag situation, Tumblr should let you toggle if you see the posts at all to streamline use of a popular search vs keeping it partially hidden so you can use your dash as intended but alas, this is the "barely functioning" website... I also normally have hated crossovers. bloodymary just hit me at the right angle to make it stick, so I can imagine how upset I'd be as well if it hadn't, but that doesn't justify being ugly about the ship and its fans

besides that, people found my IL meme with the #just blood tag just fine so i think the haters are being a tad unreasonable too. like that's just the way of discourse, isn't it? everybody logics themselves into what they think a situation is and they don't care what the reality about it looks like..

genuinely why do people think there'd magically be more solo iron lung buzz and fanworks if bloodymary wasn't a thing? it is not possible for it to "take up space" on the internet. there are no finite slots that crossover AUs are eating up. the content is not there (as much as you think should be anyway) simply because no one is making it, nothing more. bloodymary has actually kept the buzz on iron lung alive and I'm not saying that to diminish Mark's incredible work at all. I'm just saying we're 6 months out from a very finished story in the modern age of media consumption. people have said what they had to say and will continue to talk about it in their own time if you'd just block the #bloodymary and/or follow the #just blood tags, and the existence of a ship doesn't take away from that, especially when the overwhelming majority of those AUs are FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONTINUING TO EXPLORE IRON LUNG. everybody making bloodymary fanworks is doing it for simon first or else they would just write solo phm fic! like fine, hate the ship, but it'd be great if you weren't ignorant about what you're criticizing

#i've cried over many a media but the untamed was probably the most prolonged #and it's insane a little because that's just how cdramas are #where like bad things happen to the lovable mc forever which is just like reading mindnumbing overly saccharine angst fic #but the weight of wei wuxian's grief just hit the spot every time #the gratuity is what made it good instead of taking away from it #and i think it only worked as well as it did because lan zhan was there to ground it with his calm and understanding counterbalance #the untamed

I just feel like Simon would spend the first several months on Erid withdrawn as hell and jumpy.

He is just stuck WAITING for the shoe to drop for MONTHS dude.

But Grace keeps being nice to him even if he freaks out or yells or has a particularly bad nightmare and he gets to sit on a beach and drink clean water and eat food that isn't ration bars cut in half and then he meets Grace's students and gets to know Rocky and his partner Adrian and no one is expecting ANYTHING out of him even though he's been SO USLESS and LAZY and taking resources and space.

And the calm drags on and on and I think it starts to drive him CRAZY!!! Like okay!!! Jokes over right??? This next mistake I make will finally get me kicked out of this place (it doesn't) Tell me the C.O.I have found us (they never will) or this is all a really long death hallucination fever dream(He's alive).

I think eventually he might start intentionally acting out. He might purposely break something Grace cares about or say something really mean to Grace and they get into a fight because what the hell Simon why are you acting like that don't be a jerk??? So Simon storms off and locks himself up in his room WAITING. Whatever is going to happen is going to be terrible but at least that shoe won't be hanging over his head anymore.

And then nothing happens. Like there's no big consequence he doesn't get kicked out or sent away or denied food or put in eridian jail or anything. he just makes Grace upset and that's his breaking point.

He's like apologizing PROFUSELY and crying because he can't help it and he didn't mean it he's sorry he doesn't deserve this but he's so glad he's here and Grace is like OH!!! LORD!!!! Because this is a lot of emotion all at once that Simon has clearly been bottling up and Grace was expecting another fight. Grace tries his best to comfort Simon and they make up because Grace does believe him when Simon explains himself.

Simon finally realizes that he's SAFE and then he starts opening up more showing his personality making jokes and laughing and smiling 😮‍💨 and it's all uphill from there.
