BROAD THOUGHTZ
Roasting coffee be wild. Especially when you live in Florida & the weather changes on the regs, daily. When I first started diving into roasting, I never realized how much that would play into affect. I think it’s forced me to pay way closer attention to each roast, which in turn is making me love the process of it even more. Especially when the coffee ends up tasting super dope. Also, prior to us using Cropster, I was manually logging temp change, air flow, etc. every 30 seconds which also trained me to pay close attention to the minor changes within each roast. When switching to Cropster, it was rad to physically see how smooth our RoR & roast curve was with our current profiles that we’ve been jamming. Learning outside of any data logging software made me really focus on sound, sight & smell. Which is still a massive part in roasting daily, even with Cropster running. Any computer program could crash at any time, & it’d suck in a big way if I’d be lost & not know how to still roast properly. Super pumped & thankful we both learned the OG way first. I’ve learned in the coffee world how important tools are in maintaining consistency, but they can’t be used as a crutch. Very similar to music in that sense. Good gear helps you sound good, but it doesn’t make you a better musician.
Anyway, pumped to always be learning & changing. We’ll try & keep up with this here to talk about stuff thats going on. YEAH YEAH!
