âIs it customary to be meeting in an abandoned space like so? The announcement fits the setting, appropriately.â
âYouâve never met in such a remote setting before? I find that hard to believe.â
â The details arenât so important to me at the moment, itâs rude not to offer a lady a drink first Mr.? â
A chuckle rumbled in his chest as he turned, brows raising in response to her comment. âI apologise.â Lifting a decanter, he poured to fair shots of Scotch, offering one to her as he continued, âWesley, by the way.â One brow edged upwards, âIâm surprised my Employer didnât advise you of that..â
âHow much?âÂ
Barsad always liked to start business transactions with the information that mattered. And since he was already being given the name of his target, the only thing left to discuss was his price. Men like thisâshiny suits, even shinier hairâalways seemed to want to meet in back alleys and abandoned warehouses. Afraid to be seen by anyone whose face wasnât printed on the soggy concert poster dripping from the front door. Afraid to be seen with men like Barsad.Â
The mercenary hadnât been late. Heâd been watching. The black car which dropped his new business partner off had windows so tinted they may as well have been lead, and a fine leather interior. Politics most likely.Â
A political kill. Barsadâs specialty.Â
That was always the question. With a wry laugh, James raised one hand t adjust the glasses n the bridge of his nose. âWell, my employer is willing to offer one million, if you are capable of he task.â Rapidly his demeanour became serious, There is a fifty thousand down payment, however, if you fail to subdue the target that amount ill be required back. In full.â His teeth scraped briefly across his lips, âAnd I should warn you, my Employer will be deeply dissatisfied if your fail to uphold your end on the deal.â
With brows furrowed, Wesley clasped his hands before him, âWe are very aware of your particular skill set, Mister Barsad. Hopefully, you will rove yourself useful within this operation-- but I do not need to stress the repercussions if you do not.â
ooc;;Â Super immensely sorry for being so absent again guys. My illness is playing up again. Iâm going to try for a reply or two tonight, and hopefully more at the weekend! Again I am so, so, sorry!
ooc;; I know I keep saying I'll get to writing, but I've become incredibly unwell again and aside from going to the hospital (because they keep refusing to help), I'm pretty much stuck tanking up on pain killers to make sure I sleep and struggle through a work day. One this clears again I'll be back, but for now, trying to just make it to work is the unfortunate top priority. X_x
bloodymissb answered to your photo âooc;;Â Early Munday cause itâs been ages and I felt pretty okay today?â
You and the freaking Wednesday Addams eyebrow. Get it.
Fun fact, I can only do that with one eyebrow. >_>
ooc;;Â Early Munday cause itâs been ages and I felt pretty okay today?
ooc;; Gonna try and be on later to do things after dinner with friends! X
OhâŠ.oh my god.  Phoenix wasnât sure if she wanted to cry or slap him.  Who did he think he was, disappearing like that and leaving all his work for her?  The only reason she hadnât given up and quit was because sheâd been not so foolishly holding out hope that heâd come back.
Then, came the slap. Â It surprised her. Â She hadnât thought she would actually do it and she immediately felt bad, believe it or not. Â But, that didnât mean she was stopping being hurt mad anytime soon.
âYou asshole, I thought you were dead.â Â Translation: I missed you, how dare you do that to me?
He allowed her a moment to process-- to evaluate the moment: chew it up, spit it out and look at what was left. Admittedly his departure could have been cleaner, he could have explained, but there had been no time-- he had been in to state (the wordsâ itâs better this way had faintly rang in the back of his mind). âI should have said something.â Wesley agreed, âBut for your won safety, to minimise your involvement in the organisation-- it was best this way.â
â If we could be frank. â
â My extremely unique skillset is apparently required, Meaning that heâs hired me to âwipe outâ those who pose a threat, so to speak â
âWell, now that introductions are out of the way..â
âI believe your arrival may have been understated. I have received word from my employer that we would have a prolific guest, I apologise that it wasnât communicated that would be you. However, we do have some details to discuss-- your payment, naturally, and details surrounding the completion of your employment.â
@bloodforthecause
âYouâre late,â was Wesleyâs greeting as he stepped from out of the shadows and into the centre of the room. A leaky pipe dripped someone in the blackness, and the shadeless bulb that flickered above them offered paltry illumination at best-- but conversations like these were best held in questionable areas. After all, as the saying went, âeven walls have earsâ-- "My employer has a request. A job actually. Youâve heard about the Devil of Hellâs Kitchen? We need him eradicated.âÂ
âI see. Well then, Iâll be on my way, MrâŠ?âÂ
A smirk worked itâs way into the corner of Wesleyâs mouth, âMy name is of no consequence, but who might you be?" If someone was indeed slipping his location to the woman, it would be worthwhile to find out a little more about her-- one name was all it took, after all.
She licked her lips, gaze fixed on his face and she takes a deep breath. He was okay- she knew fully well she shouldnât care but that didnât stop her from doing it, still. âWould have surprised me if youâd actually been on vacation.â Again, she nearly smiled. âYou still believe in it, huh? In him.â
She wondered briefly if he had anything to do with what happened to Frank but she didnât ask, not now. âAre you worried?â Her tone is almost amused but changed immediately when she actually thought about his question. Was she alright? âIâve been worse. Itâs- itâs been a rough couple of weeks. Are you, James? Are you alright?â
Wesley finally managed another glance, watching Karen as he stood, shadow dappled in her home-- a place he remembered too well, and somehow barely at all. Sighing, he found, was just the thing in moments like these, with just the hint of  a strained laugh mingled in. âIâm not sure Iâve ever taken a vacation Karen-- as you rightly imply, itâs not like me.â
His tongue traipsed across his lips as he raised his hand, removing his glasses to rub at the bridge of his nose where a very personal headache was accumulating. Had he been worried? âDo you want me to answer that?â James lowered his hand once more, a smile threatening on his lips, âIâm fine-- I havenât been in near-death situations several times in the last month. Do simply attract trouble Karen? Is it a hobby of yours?â
ooc;;Â hello new followers! Thereâs quite a few of you now, so I thought Iâd pop out a starter call, and Iâll hopefully get to those tonight after work. =3
âOh, maybe I do or donât. But then why was this address slipped into my locker this afternoon?âÂ
âI would assume they misspelled, the-- as your presence isnât required.â
Something was wrong. Heâd felt off-kilter ever since Frank had shot him, the night heâd spent passed out on the roof in a daze before Foggy had found him⊠soaked in blood, everything feeling odd, floaty. Then heâd had the ⊠the panic attack. Whatever it was. When his senses had gone haywire and then ⊠stopped. Completely. And it had been horrific, absolutely awful for Matt - being as if he was newly blinded all over again. Isolated, totally isolated, screaming alone in his apartment, banging on the wall, palpitations, gasping for air⊠heâd been huddled into a ball. His neighbours mustâve been out. It had felt like he was there for hours, but when his hearing finally filtered through, it had been only minutes.
Head throbbing, Matt reaching up to touch the impact site of the bullet. It had never pierced but had hit him damned hard. The pain was scorching up the back of his skull. Everything way too loud, right now, his sense of smell and taste going totally nuts, and he felt nausea curdling his stomach. Oh, no. No, no, no. Cars in the next street over were too loud. He covered his ears, breathing too hard, starting to hyperventilate as he tasted blood on his lip. Dripping from his nose again; a sure sign. But here. Out here. No, god, no, not out here, he couldnât - couldnât be that pathetic, lost blind person, his independence⊠Matt staggered sideways, bumping a wall.
Apathetic rain, and New Yorkâs skyline like a tarry lung-- sometimes it made Wesley wonder why he stayed. Deep down he knew why, why he suffered it all, the knerls of vice, and greed, and hatred, and guilt: his employer. He had been found in the knick of time, as the saying goes-- his heart had stopped twice on the table, his months in hospital, hooked up to drips and beeping monitors had been a torture-- and now, James found himself walking the dreary streets and winding his way between the commuters amongst the hazy cab grills and city smog as he tried to live some sort of life in this place.
Walking in an introspective daze, Wesley almost missed it-- the man in front of him stumbled, disoriented maybe, (drunk, most likely) against the wall. He should have walked on, swerved and ignored it, but his own state had brought him too close, and all he could do not to collide and send them both careering into the sidewalk was reach out a hand with a half hearted, âAre you alright?â His apathy was almost palpable-- and then something clicked. Heâd seen that face before, sat in an office with the man and gave his Employerâs offer-- Matthew Murdock. âYou--â words jarred in his throat, "-do you need a cab?â
@imcsoldiergirl
âI believe you have the wrong office--â
