I need to go back to Gero’s Lid on My Heart for just a moment.

So Gero really seems to suffer from a certain level of dissociative amnesia from when he was a child and active repression of his own feelings.

There’s a couple things that are interesting to me here. One is that he’s continuing to repress past memories. He’s clearly remembering child Kinosaki here, reminiscing as an adult, and actively Not Thinking Any Farther Than That. We don’t even get child Kinosaki’s eyes. For whatever reason, whatever Gero is repressing specifically in relation to Kinosaki, he is still repressing. I’m interested if it’s a specific memory (did they meet?) or a general emotional feeling in relation to Kinosaki ie some level of a childhood crush that Gero knew then would not be accepted in any way by his family (since Gero’s like 1 hobby and method of communicating he specifically picked up in relation to Kinosaki, which he also Does Not Comment On. Just like how Gero provides no commentary on the repeated attraction he currently displays towards Kinosaki)

Additionally, there’s the Very Specific Phrasing of Lid on my Heart. Heart. Like. Kinosaki Heart. Like Nasu making a weirdly emphasized mention of a heart last chapter. Whatever. Whatever. Sure whatever. Sure sure sure.

the way i gasped at the doll lines. Makoto is living in her dream world but still worried for her friend's feelings. She's a sweet girl. I wonder if Nasu is way overestimating how jealous these girls would be over each others' relationships with Gero like they all seem pretty emotionally intelligent. Perhaps Nasu's plan to keep them from being catty with eachother is unecessary and ultimately what will ironically ruin his plan. Your misogyny will be your own undoing!!!

Are you SCARED, Nasu?!! Good.

He's so fucking unsettling what a good antagonist. It's gonna be a satisfying downfall.

Just putting it out there that Kinosaki is wearing that iconic outfit from when Gero first attempts to kill/propose to her during the scene where Kinosaki interrupts Gero's forced proposal to Tonako. Just an interesting choice is all.
