Fangirls Through the Ages by Lid Thom
i love reading, i love thinking about what i am currently reading, i love thinking about what i am going to read next, i love being privileged enough to be able to read, read, read, and read so much that i never tire of it
was at a bar and a 50+ year old drunk white woman complimented me and my friend's outfits, told us there was a campsite up in northern maryland where a lot of gay bears go to have sex in the woods. we asked her how she knew about this and she very aggressively said "because i'm a FAG HAG!!! but i'm not allowed to say that anymore I GUESS!!!"
what i loved with martha was that even though she was in love with ten just like rose, she didn't look at him with doe eyes when he did weird stuff. or she didn't tag along in the weirdness like donna did. never really chose to match his freak. no, when ten did weird stuff in front of martha, you could see in this woman's eyes that she was questioning every single one of her life choices ever since she'd met him and that was so real of her tbh
whenever you talk about medical abuse or antipsych a lot of med & psych professionals on tumblr love to cite their job titles as proof that they have the Authority to Prove You Wrong not understanding that the reason that works to shut patients up in real life is because you hold the power to permanently degrade their quality of life/quality of care and they're afraid of you because of it, not because they genuinely agree that you're better than them
unclean = adj. of or pertaining to uncles
The first fish to ever break the water surface to briefly come to land for just a moment or two at a time, and then popping back in, gradually spending longer and longer on land and therefore starting the process of becoming land animals, didn't do it in search of new territory or potential food sources - they mainly did so in order to avoid another fish they owed money.
Don't blame all your earthly problems on the ancient little shithead who decided to crawl onto land. Blame the loan shark.
You ever think about how often you hear someone say "there's no such thing as natural talent! Anyone can be taught" and you want to believe that they mean "with the right method and accommodations, anyone can be taught this", but time and time again you learn that they meant "I don't believe in learning disabilities or accommodations, anyone whom I can't teach simply doesn't want to learn."

always some new bullshit in the ocean
Why is it always orcas or dolphins
Why can't a salmon do some bullshit for once
worry not ☝️ they're doing coke
“Incurious” is an incredible thing to call someone. It conveys so much with so little. To be so uninterested with learning or developing an understanding that it’s damning. To fail to feel what a toddler does by instinct.
I sometimes go back to the Dan Olson video about Doug Walker and there’s a bit where he says “Doug wants to be a filmmaker, he wants to make art, but he can't, because he's a fundamentally incurious person who isn't much interested in what other people think or feel and all his ideas boil down to ‘what if Batman met Mario?’” and I know that if this was said about most artists I have met they would wither up on the spot like a dying spider
as someone who is lowkey obsessed with how the odyssey is structured i find this diagram by james redfield very satisfying:
"[A pattern] based on strict alternation. Odysseus faces two kinds of dangers; he may be killed before he gets home, or he may be induced to stop on the way. He faces violence and temptation." (from Redfield's 'The Economic Man')
obsessed with the person on reddit who’s been reading thier mum who knows nothing about pokemon the bulbapedia descriptions and then she draws what she thinks they look like from that alone
i love you slightly unhinged old british storybook style pokemon that illustrate the importance of accurate text descriptions i hope reddit user BazF91 and his mum are having a great day <3
The nice thing about solar power is that once you've built a solar farm the sun does not then need to be shipped to you through a series of international shipping lanes that can be cut off by other people's governments in response to the actions of other other people's governments. The sun is not subject to the stupid decisions of people you did not vote for in response to the stupid decisions of other people you did not vote for. The sun does not need to go through the Strait of Hormuz.
Even if you don't care about any of the other arguments in favour of solar power, this is a really good argument in favour of solar power.
need to beam this tweet directly into everyone's minds right now
