Fav:

Kinosaki and Gero: I feel like this is self explanatory. Me personally I’m a big fan of the way Gero never seems to be aware of his own attraction to Kinosaki. But he’s like. Constantly expressing attraction to Kinosaki. Godspeed. Also I love weird forgotten childhood friend stuff cliche as it is haha. Also I like narratively the way it lets Gero fully shake off his family by forcing him to make a choice based on what he actually wants.

Love:

Ureshino and Himi: I like friends to lovers 😔😔😔. I am also ok w them being platonic friends I just like their bond a lot and want it to continue being emphasized yayyy.

Himekawa/Arashiyama and Himekawa/Arashiyama/Ushio:

I love Himekawa and Arashiyama and also if they were a throuple w Ushio 😔. I think the range of personalities between the three of them would be kind of funny haha

One sided Kirito Arima -> Gero: Yeah ❤️

Like:

Beppu and Naruko: idk it has those two guys energy. I don’t have strong feelings

One sided Toshiro -> Gero: I think it makes Toshiro seem more lame so yeah haha

Dislike:

Kirito Arima and Chinatsu: Idk why I dislike it. I know it’s maybe getting set up. I can be convinced probably I just am not crazy about it atm. I think I want Chinatsu to be with a woman lol

Tonako and Gero: I think it would be bad for both of them as we have seen.

Not featured on list:

Teruaki x another guy he’s not related to: I want Teruaki to get a boyfriend who he is not related to. That’s my dream for him. Or he can have a hot girl summer or something with men he’s not related to. For whatever reason, I really don’t want it to be Beppu. Unless it’s a one-night stand I think that could be funny. I feel like they would not get along and the next day would be really awkward. I think the Kirito suggestions r smart. My main concern is the not related part and that he also gets to be queer.

Chinatsu and one of her former classmates from her all-girls school: Tale as old as time. Running into a girl from her former all-girls school. “Haha I had a crush on you isn’t teenage girlhood funny” -> “oops those weren’t fleeting feelings I’m gay.”

Ushio and getting to form a stronger familial bond with her sister Haichi: I like the idea of them being able to form a bond as sisters now that the evil patriarchal members of their family aren’t around anymore.

Akari and her girlfriend: I wanna see more about them and how they met. Also I want them to get married yayyyy

Platonic Teruaki and Himi: I’ve seen the light. They can go get more ear piercings together or smthing

I need to go back to Gero’s Lid on My Heart for just a moment.

So Gero really seems to suffer from a certain level of dissociative amnesia from when he was a child and active repression of his own feelings.

There’s a couple things that are interesting to me here. One is that he’s continuing to repress past memories. He’s clearly remembering child Kinosaki here, reminiscing as an adult, and actively Not Thinking Any Farther Than That. We don’t even get child Kinosaki’s eyes. For whatever reason, whatever Gero is repressing specifically in relation to Kinosaki, he is still repressing. I’m interested if it’s a specific memory (did they meet?) or a general emotional feeling in relation to Kinosaki ie some level of a childhood crush that Gero knew then would not be accepted in any way by his family (since Gero’s like 1 hobby and method of communicating he specifically picked up in relation to Kinosaki, which he also Does Not Comment On. Just like how Gero provides no commentary on the repeated attraction he currently displays towards Kinosaki)

Additionally, there’s the Very Specific Phrasing of Lid on my Heart. Heart. Like. Kinosaki Heart. Like Nasu making a weirdly emphasized mention of a heart last chapter. Whatever. Whatever. Sure whatever. Sure sure sure.

Major Spoilers for Remnants of Filth

When I was reading Remnants of Filth I figured that Gu Mang probably would be revealed to not have turned traitor (which was correct) but literally everything that’s revealed about Chonghua I was like damn see I would be on his side even if he had done that stuff. The existence of Luomei Pavilion as an institution at all. That’s so unbelievably fucked. Can you guys shut that down. Like asap pronto etc etc etc.
