Terra Hydria Usability Testing Questions
(These were tested on our 12 mock-up pages)
1) Can you tell what the different parts of the store are? 2) How would you go about purchasing an item? 3) Where can you find information about the site? 4) Where can you see images of other terrariums/ get terrarium ideas? 5) Where can you log in or register?
The user was able to navigate fairly easily through the site and through the five questions proposed. She was able to see clearly what the different parts of the site were supposed to be about, as well as where to go to do certain things. Since the entire site was static, there was some confusion about where to go or what to click on (she wasn't sure what was clickable and what wasn't). The user also gave some helpful suggestions as to what she would have expected to see in the "about" page. The user also had a little confusion during the check out stage of the process, since there was some missing information required at the last stage of purchasing an item. The check out area (the most important part) was overlooked a little as well.

Inspiration Research for Terra Hydria
http://www.stormthecastle.com/terrarium/ This site is not very well designed, but has lots of options for the user to choose from when it comes to terrariums. It also recommended care books and offered quick guide instructions. http://www.terrariums.com/ This site was designed better, but still came across as boring and dry. It had lots of text and no images, but had lots of useful information that increased user knowledge. It also had an interesting tab design for the navigation. http://botanyfactory.com/ I loved this site! The home page is interesting as it used one main image, and the whole site had a very personal, unique feel to it. Great layout, clear images, and very easily navigated! http://tinyterra.com/ More of a blog highlighting different ways to make terrariums, but very interesting and clean. Great organization and nice photos. http://customglassterrariums.com/ This site has a very high-tech feel to it, with dark colors and sharp edges. I liked the way they gave each product a rating out of five stars, and the navigation was pretty easy. http://twigterrariums.com/shop-online This site was organized pretty well, and definitely had some great photos. The navigation was personalized and creative but seemed very squished together. Not so good typography, but had some interesting ideas that could influence our site.
