Where does Agatha meet the circus?

When Agatha first meets the circus, they DON'T want to take her in. They think it's too dangerous to harbor her, so they give her directions on how to head to Mechanicsburg.

We know where Mechanicsburg is in relation to the Danube river; it's north of it, in the Carpathian Mountains. Presumably, Agatha would follow the Danube to where it meets the Dyne, then follow the Dyne river straight to Mechanicsburg.

However, the Danube only runs west/east through Romania; to reach the Danube from anywhere you would have to head south, not west.

So what part of the Danube river can be reached by going west? The parts running through Hungary and northwest Serbia! And given that Agatha is told to follow it east, rather than south means Serbia is more likely, just above where the Danube river turns east.

Conclusion: Agatha meets the circus in northwest Serbia. That's a long way from home; Castle Wulfenbach must have been heading west from Beetleburg for awhile.
