MORE cleaning out of the ol’ warehouse!
CS:GO ports have gotten a little extra fixing, plus two more maps: Monastery and Crash Site!
And something from the beta pile: Contagion maps modified to not be some zombie-apocalypse-y!
I'm just too good to you guys...
NEW RELEASES! Long over-due ones, at that!
CS:GO Map Ports get a re-ported Bank, Cobble and Overpass!
HL2 Survivor content!
There’s still some minor bugs to take care of, but these should start you off all good like.
de_season's greetings!
(You'll need CSGO mounted, of course)
Have a port of the new Halloween map!
Here's a quick port of the updated Dota map. Here's a similarly quick re-port of the old map, since I fucked up and grabbed the wrong bsp file at first (I DON'T PLAY DOTA MUCH AND IT HAD A VERSION NUMBER ON THE FILENAME OKAY)
Hey! Do you want the L4D2 DLC maps (and also the mall and rollercoaster maps)? Click here. Orrrrr you could click here instead to get a couple of Contagion maps I was able to successfully recompile. It's your call, really.
I did a little bit of entity-hacking to stop the Alien Swarm maps from crashing SFM and to add a TF2 playerstart to each map, so they'll play nicely now. You'll still need to improvise up a ceiling and deal with nodrawed surfaces, though - I didn't decompile/recompile anything this time around, it's all the original BSP data. I used JimboMcB's texture panels in that poster. Grab the fixed maps! You'll need the model processing .bat to get the models to work in SFM - somehow that's the only game that still needs it! Weird but true.
Insurgency is running a free weekend. There’s a lot of nice resources in there, though sadly the maps don’t work. I managed to recompile a couple, but there’s so many issues to deal with on that side of things. :(
Have a handy guide on how to override textures using Material Overrides.
There are a lot of reasons why you'd want to change the texture on one specific instance of a model without changing it for all of the others. Maybe you want to use alpha layers to punch a hole in a zombie to expose it's gooey innards, Left 4 Dead style. Maybe you want to change the text on a billboard without changing it on other billboards. Maybe you want to give two Scouts different hair colours. Or maybe you want to go completely nuts with the Resizable Texture Panels and have access to more than 16 textures. Who am I to judge?
Whatever reason you wanted to do this, doing so before version 9.8.6 of SFM was a real pain - material overrides did not support changing texture paths, so either you'd have to temporarily replace one of the existing skins on the model, or you'd have to hex/recompile a duplicate with the skins you want. Both time-consuming and annoying!
As of 9.8.6, however, this issue has been fixed and you can now change texture paths more or less on a whim. Let's learn how to do it!
Today brings forth two additions to the site: NeoTokyo map ports and something I keep forgetting to add - the Beta L4D1 Survivors! Oh, and I added Almost Water since I keep forgetting.
It's Almost Water, but not quite.
Getting Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Maps Into Source Filmmaker
Vampire: Bloodlines has some cool-looking, if somewhat small and low-res, maps and resources. You might want to use them to make cool SFM stuff in a dingy, dark city that isn’t made out of Half-Life 2 resources. However, the version of Source used by Bloodlines is an old, beta version unsupported by SFM. Luckily, a small team called Bloodlines Resurgence set to work a while back to try and port the game to the modern Alien Swarm engine, along with a port of the game’s resources to SFM for us lucky ducks to mess with.
Unfortunately, the Bloodlines Resurgence mod decided to take down all their Source-related info in favor of porting the game to UDK or Unity or BUILD or whatever unmoddable C&D-fodder they’re chasing this week, and in addition decided to cancel their near-finished model port for SFM because what’s the point of releasing something cool now when we can release nothing later? This is what we in the business call “a bit of a shame”.
Luckily, there’s a way you can get a good chunk of this done yourself. The primarily missing feature from this way is characters - they won’t be converted. Maybe one day if we’re all really good boys and girls, Vampire support will be added to Crowbar, so maybe in time (lots and lots of time - there’s a lot of models!) you’ll be able to take care of this yourself. In the meantime, you can grab a few here from the project lead’s GMod Workshop, if he hasn’t taken them down by the time you read this.

I've thrown up a little website listing all of this stuff, along with a few other random SFM things of mine, because having it spread out around a couple of forum threads was a real pain, and people who needed this stuff were seemingly having trouble finding it.
This tumblr will serve as an update feed, as well as some screengrabs or whatever of whatever I'm working on next. Hope this helps out anyone who needs it!
A typical example of a decompiled CS:GO map in desperate need of love on account of an uncaring decompiler. I ended up having to outright disable all the tool brushes to get it compiling.
