Laurel was finding it hard to get into the vacation mood. She had been on the island for just a few hours, woken up from a short nap and immediately tried to check her e-mail. But…nothing. No new messages since she left New York, which she could only imagine was the result of poor connection. She wandered around the resort, blind to everything around her except her phone.
“Goddamnit…oh for fuck’s sake…” she muttered.
Kira was pushing an empty cart that had carried many packages that belonged to a Master. Now that she had delivered them, she was on her way back to her desk. Luckily her shift was almost over because she was itching to feel the sand between her toes and take a break from the craziness of dealing with the demanding clientele of the isle. As much as she loved her work, it did wear on her sometimes.
“Oh gosh!” Kira gasped, having almost collided with a pretty blonde. Kira made a point to try and know everyone even if they didn’t know her. “Miss Hyatt. I’m so sorry. Guess I should quite my daydreaming so I can keep my day job,” she made a joke at her own expense. “--Are you...uhm.. okay though?” Kira had caught the end of her angry grumbles.
