heyo! so Tumblr is kinda annoying in the way that it allows you to manage blogs. I started my @aomine-ryo blog as a side blog not knowing that I couldn’t really reply or follow people back on there so now it is something I have to deal with until Tumblr decides to fix that.

okay, here’s the thing clowns refuse to understand: kuroko no basuke is not trying, in any way, to play itself off as a realistic depiction of basketball. it is a story that unapologetically uses its medium (i.e. anime/manga) to the fullest.
this is why i get a little irritated when people tell me to ‘go and watch haikyuu instead’ - here’s the thing: i love haikyuu, but these shows entertain me in two entirely different ways. everything from their respective cast, to their plotline/s, to inner and outer group dynamics, serve completely different purposes.
hinata is an amateur who fell in love with volleyball because he idolized a particular player - haikyuu is the story of how he makes it to the top. the story relies wholly on the concept of ambition and idea of getting there no matter what. it’s all about average players making it big. there’s no need to be extra about anything - this is a bottom-up anime; knb is a top-down anime.
hinata is an underdog; kuroko is a dark horse.
knb isn’t about kuroko becoming an ace; when he joins seirin’s team, he’s already an experienced player who’s played alongside some very talented people on a national stage. the idea of knb isn’t that he wants to be the best - its that he wants to humble the best. he wants to bring the unreachables down a notch or two (or ten). that being said, making the generation of miracles over-powered is the perfect way to accomplish that. making them vain, dionysian near-gods is both what makes the show good and helps it achieve its end goal.
an antagonist like oikawa, who works hard and values his team, wouldn’t be a bad guy in knb, regardless of his garbage attitude. just like throwing in a character as cruel and unyielding as akashi into haikyuu would completely destroy the point of the show (and the morale of its arguably unexceptional cast).
there’s a reason kise is knb’s oikawa, and ushijima is haikyuu’s akashi. they’re character equivalents, crafted in a way that suits the universe/story they’re put in. these shows are built the way they are for a reason, and each element serves its respective plot well.
so for the love of zeus, stop comparing them. just because there’s a ball and a short protagonist in the equation doesn’t make them comparable.
I 100% agree!! I love both of these animes so much and I hate it when people compare the two (and they usually end up hating on knb bc it’s unrealistic). While they do have their similarities in some aspects, I’m quite sure knb is intended to be unrealistic, and that’s what makes it interesting. They’re both in my top 5 favourite animes so it kinda sucks seeing how people put down either one

S.O. Dyeing Their Hair to Match His
Characters: Osamu, Atsumu, Nishinoya, Kenma
Dyed Hair Babies Again ❤Sequel to S.O. Styling his Hair!
Atsumu
You’re at the hair salon with Atsumu to appease his vanity get his hair done, flipping through magazines
“Tsumu, why do you dye your hair?”
He hums, thinking
“I mean, it used to be cuz Samu and I wanted to differentiate between ourselves and look cool,” he begins
“But now it’s kind of a piece of me,” he finishes
You smile, closing the magazine
That was an oddly polished answer coming from him
A piece of him, huh?
You end up going back to the hair salon on one of your off days while he’s at practice, asking for his exact shade of blonde
When the job is done, you wait for Atsumu to get home
The door clicks open and you hear Atsumu stretch loudly, sighing in relief
“I’m home- Y/n?“
Atsumu freezes in the doorway
He wordlessly approaches you and gathers your face in his hands, brushing over your new hair
“Y/n…fuck, you look gorgeous"
His eyes soften, recalling his previous words
"Thanks, Princess"
You kiss him on the nose
"Yeah but I probably would have looked even better with grey hair"
"BABE, I’ve never been more HURT"

The two of you are sitting across from each other at a new restaurant that Osamu wanted to try out, waiting for food
He leans against his palm, eyes scanning over you with that steady, unperturbed intensity you’ll never get used to
You blink at him, blushing slightly
"I’d bet you’d look hot with grey hair,” Osamu finally says casually, head tilting to the side in his hand
He reaches towards you and brushes a lock of hair behind your ear
Thankfully the food arrives, breaking his attention
oh my god he looked at you for 23950 seconds straight you’re sweating
You heed his advice and dye your hair his shade of grey, wanting to surprise him
When he gets home, shuffling his shoes off, he smirks widely at the sight of you
“Welcome home, baby,” you greet, grinning
“I wasn’t even droppin subtle hints or anything but damn, am I glad I said that the other day"
Osamu strides forward, running a large palm down the slope of your jaw
"Could you be any cuter?” he sighs affectionately
You laugh, locking your hands around his waist
“I’m only this cute around you, Samu"
Nishinoya
At this point you know exactly what makes Nishinoya tick
It’s not very hard; he’s a very open person with you
With some help from big sis Saeko and Ryuu, you dye symmetrical brownish-blonde streaks in your hair
Tanaka can barely keep it a surprise from Nishinoya; he’s so excited for his best friend
When Nishinoya arrives at the Tanaka house to unveil your new look, his jaw drops

"Th-this is for me??”
You brush your hair self-consciously
“Yeah, I wanted to match with you, Yuu"
He’s honestly so honored
Dramatically pretends Cupid’s arrow has struck him in the heart and lands on his knees before you
He asks for your hand and you giggle, presenting your hand to him, which he showers with kisses
Nishinoya cannot get over your new look for the next month
He drags you to the mall the next day and buys a ton of matching couples clothes so the two of you can complete the look
Ya’ll are so cute it’s not even funny
Kenma
Due to popular demand, you take over his YouTube channel to film a vlog
"So today we’re DIY dip-dyeing my hair to look like Kenma’s and then we’ll be pranking him,” you say, mounting the camera in the bathroom
The process takes quite some time, but you’re satisfied the result
You proceed to the second part of your prank
“Kenma, I had a bit of an accident,” you say when he picks up your call
You can practically hear the furrowing of his brows over the phone
His voice comes out slightly alarmed
“What happened, Y/n?"
"Just come home quickly, okay?"
The man rushes home in a fraction of the time you expected
awww he does care
"Okay, I’ve got a physician on hand- oh no."
You burst into laughter as Kenma’s eyes flick between you and the camera
He acts disgusted upon seeing it, sending you disdained looks from his peripheral vision
Secretly loves it and you can tell the moment he laces his hands in yours
"You better not scare me like that again"
”…but I guess it looks okay”
You frown for a moment, standing in front of the mirror with Kenma
“Kenma, why do you look prettier than me; I hate this"
he looks prettier than everyone, it’s a given

I love how osamu is the twin who knows what toner is. i bet when he and his twin got their hair done, atsumu jus saw his rinsed-out, brassy bleached hair and was like ‘man, this is rad!!’ and osamu was just like watching him from a distance with his hair marinating in silver toner and being like 'brad mondo did not make a whole ass youtube channel for this disrespect’
