I immediately had to drop everything to make this
Hi all, for those following my blog for CR content, I think I’ll be slowing down if not outright stopping this blog while CR and their staff continue to stay silent on Palestine while using Palestine as an inspiration for Marquet (“The culture and architecture of Marquet's cities is broadly inspired by 12th-century Turkey, and its outlying villages are reminiscent of early Palestine”) to profit.
Until they make a statement in support of Palestine (as they’ve done for other political issues), I cannot comfortably support them in any way and encourage all Critters who care about social and political issues to join me and a few others in pressuring the company to say something.
This is a difficult choice as a fan since campaign 1 but after seeing Aarbria and Brennan step up to the plate, there’s no excuse for the biggest DnD company to say something.
#CrittersForPalestine
You can, in fact, both love something and criticize it. I love Critical Role with all my heart, it's helped me through some of my toughest moments, but their silence about Palestine is both disappointing and worrying.
They AREN'T just a group of nerdy-ass voice actors playing Dungeons and Dragons anymore. They're their own company now, that has spoken up for and donated to several causes. They have a whole Foundation dedicated to this.
Different causes the Critical Role Foundations have donated to:
ending childhood cancer
eradicating childhood poverty
protecting LGBTQIA+ people worldwide
children in under-resourced communities
children born into India’s lowest socioeconomic class
improving economic conditions for Native Americans
It's understandable to expect them to speak up about this one and be upset because they haven't. Palestine is important. Palestinians are important. They are dying. This isn't about keeping a reputation or a follower count, it's about using their resources to let them know that they are not alone in this, that they are being fought for, and that everything possible will be done to help free them from their colonizers.
And from what I understand, some of their locations (Notably Marquet) are based loosely on early Palestine, which makes their silence a whole lot more disappointing.
i ended up cancelling my twitch subscription because it was so utterly devastating that they stayed silent for so long
🤖 🧙♀️ 💀 🐺 🧟♂️ 👸 🗡
Travis really has me in a tight spot because if Chetney ever dies due to a random dice roll started as a bit I would be genuinely crushed and feel a gaping hole in the party left behind but ALSO it would be the funniest shit that's ever happened in 8 years of Critical Role. Hall of Fame goof.
Like imagine the three perma-dead PCs of CR:
Vax'ildan - Disintegrated and forced to fulfill a life debt to a death god made in exchange for his sisters safety
Mollymauk - Simply in the wrong place at the wrong time (in game and above table), re-animated as an evil power hungry villain and then re-re-animated as someone almost entirely new
Chetney- honk shoo'd too hard may he rest in peace 😔
