I’m a big fan of your Arcana fanart you’re amazing and have inspired me!! I want to finally try my hand at learning art! I’m a major beginner artist and was wondering if you have any tips on matching the lighting of the Arcana official CGs? Like, for skin and shadows in particular? Maybe I just don’t know enough of how digital art and blending modes work yet, but could you maybe explain how you get the same lighting as in the CGs and how does that work if the art has a paper overlay? Does that affect the eyedropper tool when trying to get the same color used in the art?

Also, how do you know what color to make the multiply layer if say, I wanted to do a CG Apprentice matchup and make the colors and lighting, etc look just like the official art?

I've never heard of that before so, not before this ask. That said, I'm not really tempted. It seems like some effort when I've been pretty busy with work and personal life things

I do like the chibis I designed though and if I was better at not making breakpoints and awkward shapes, they would be fun as keychains

Will you ever redo, remake or create any new danganronpa 3 sprites? I love them so much, but since you’ve improved so much some look better than others

The last one I did was 7 years ago. If I tried again, they'd probably look worse due to a lack of practice

I thought it'd be interesting to put all the colours of the Arcana characters' sprites into gamut and HSV graphs to see any patterns

The colour design of the Arcana is still incredible, and this is great design to see the unique trends per character

Reply or reblog with features you think are too uncommon in character design.

This can be facial features, colouration, body types, etc.

For me, I'm always surprised at how few have glasses, softer chins/jaws, bumpy nose bridges, or mobility aids.

I've done the Korra -> AtLA designs, now time for some Aang -> AtLoK designs!

We've got Aang, the Avatar from the Southern Water Tribe. Katara, a modern airbending master and Sokka, her not-so-monkish brother. Zuko is the son of the Earth Kingdom's councillor who's been hidden away in Republic City after his father fractured his face. Toph is a blind Republic City heiress who prefers to moonlight as an underground fighter. Then Suki is a leader of a non-bending protection group of chi-blockers

And they're all part of Aang's sports anime

He discovered probending exists and made it his mission to put together the best team he can find: The Flying Lemurs. Sokka is the manager and only goes slightly mad with power

Iroh and Gyatso are their number 1 supporters. None of their merch is legal

While the teenagers are in their tournament arc, Iroh and Gyatso are caught up in a gangster storyline, trying to take down the city's gangs and expose its secrets, political corruption, and more

All to get back in time to watch the Big Game in their fancy seats they commandeered, including full tea station, cushions, and everything

Iroh runs the front of the Republic City's biggest gang (and somehow makes more money than them) while Gyatso is just helpless trying to find the Avatar in such a big city to return him to his duties. Clearly, he needs to watch this pro ending season all the way through just for a hope of finding Aang

Do you have the color pick example for the lighting tests you did on the Google doc? Like when you've shown what colors are multiply and which are screen settings? I think having that correct setting would help me more for the accuracy. Grabbing and adjusting the colors off of a already darker or lighter cg or bg has been difficult to get that right look.

Sometimes i feel like im close but it still doesnt quite look like how id want it to. :/

I couldn’t open the Google document you linked in your post, though. I tried several times on different devices of mine, but the document wouldn’t open. Is there any way you could make another post, telling what was in that Google document by any chance, please? 🥹

It's a file of a bunch of lighting tests I did to try replicate the original CGs. If you're struggling with lighting, you can just mess around with blend layers until you think you've got it

Basically, I created a tool to automatically transcribe episodes for my Love & Legends recreation, and since I had access to some other Lovestruck episodes, why not try do them all?

Feel free to read these or use them in your own recreations. Obviously, all credit goes to the original writers (I have included the known writers in a spreadsheet) so DON'T RESELL THESE OR USE IN COMMERICAL PROJECTS. This is just for archival and fan project purposes

I have more detailed notes in the Archive Status spreadsheet, but this transcription is not perfect. Be sure to check them yourself if you want to use them:

All scripts have some noise, repeated lines, incomplete lines, and misspellings

I could not transcribe a handful of routes due to a lack of black box in the recording

I did not have every route downloaded so some transcriptions aren't separated by episode

MC names have not been changed from the recordings. These names can overlap with canon characters and change between episodes

Choices are not included due to using a single recording per route

I’m so impressed by how perfectly you recreated the Arcana art style and the tutorials you’ve made for that art style are immensely helpful, thank you so much! I was wondering though, do you have any tips on making Arcana Apprentice CG matchups for the CGs of the LIs? I’m fairly new to digital art, I’m more familiar with traditional art and was wondering if you could give me some tips on matching the colors and lighting effects of the Arcana CGs, in specific? Would I simply use the eyedropper tool to match the colors from the official art to apply to my own artwork? How do I know what color to use for multiply to change the entire lighting and color of the CG (like, if I wanted to make a matching CG to go with Julian’s Forbidden Garden one or Lucio’s Reversed ending CG where the lighting is very bold, how should I go about that?)

Do you have any tips or some examples for colors of shades and lighting for the arcana game cgs? I've been attempting to match them to make of my mc but even grab similar colors to match seems to be off still. Do you kinda go with the closet color scheme or do you just test it around until it looks right? I know theres also a ridiculous number of cgs as well so if you have SOME Idea id love to learn more as I'm still trying my best to study it all.

To celebrate an instagram milestone, I'm finally trying to illustrate my CG process. This could be more detailed, but I was trying to keep i

I'm catching a train in like four minutes but check out my "art ref" tag plus this CSP file of messing around I've done to try work out the different lighting for the CGs

Basic gist is that I reference the original colours and use "divide" to find any multiply layers for the shading. Then for the lighting, colour pick the darker colour and mess around with screen/add/hard light/overlay layers until you colour match it

Also if it doesn't match perfectly, it might be due to the gradients. The colours aren't consistent across the entire piece, there are added shadows and lights airbrushed around the sources
