Let It Go — Be — Embrace Let It Go was a very popular song several years ago. This past year it was my life. Have I learned anything to take forward? 2021 started full of optimism and plans. I was feeling solid and the virus was getting under control. Yay! Then came the stroke, heart, shoulder, cancer, eye, depression, retirement, decline of social justice, politics and end game on environment. Oh, and COVID cycles. Not yay. But in the midst of all, there were new places, recipes and joys. Yum always helps. I re-embraced old playbooks, “Let Time be God” and “Flow” . Our lives and plans change in a moment. These two years have been a very big time out, but time moves ever forward. I have rested, let my mind settle a bit, accepted my lack of influence on the world and enjoy what is before me. I am far less driven, but I am keenly aware that it is a big new sorting out process. I have learned to savor the moments more. I’m actually enjoying an unhurried process of decluttering. Simply being as new ideas are emerging. I do need some structure: one good thing a day, regular physical activity, studies, sit with my wife, play with my dog, some short and longer projects. I could go on…. but I just wrote some things down…… from experience, that means there is a very good chance they will happen…… Time is God. Time will bring opportunities and more changes. I will flow, being able to change myself and find something satisfying in each day. This year my words are Embrace Being…me. Happy New Year! It will be as good as we make it.
