Once I was watching a show, it was a sort of caberet-type production, but with the strangest actors you’ve ever met in your life.

Eventually the show came to this bit where two ladies, dressed in pink boas and decked in glitter, were singing a lovely song. The lyrics, of course, were nothing of substance. Some trill, peppy tune. But onstage with them was a man, a shriveled up old ugly thing, who kept trying to join in with them.

But the girls didn’t like him, and would serve him with pointed glares whenever he sang along, until he was ashamed into silence, forced back into his role.

So tell me Will, what will you sing tonight? Mahna mahna? Or doo-doo-do-doo-doo?
