Part 1
Another sigh escaped past your lips, and as you looked to the mirror in front of you, you looked to your outfit. A maroon cardigan was placed over a black-and-white striped shirt, and a pair of ripped black jeans was paired nicely with some maroon flats. For what felt like the first time in a long time you were going out, but not in the way you had expected.
It had been exactly a month since you last talked to Jae. It had been a month since your fight, and it killed you inside to know that it was over something as dumb as him being jealous. You knew that you weren’t the one at fault, but every time your mind wondered back to that moment you couldn’t help be feel like it was. Maybe you should’ve pushed the guy away faster, maybe if you had paid more attention—
“No, y/n.” You shook your head, squeezing your eyes together as you clenched your fists by your side. “This wasn’t you’re fault,” You muttered to yourself, opening your eyes once again and running your fingers through your hair. You let out a small sigh before smiling to yourself, and you spun around on your heels to grab a bag before heading out the door.
Brian had managed to get a hold of you a few days back, asking if the two of you could meet up for a small outing. You hesitantly agreed to come, only saying yes when you had realized how long it had been since you went outside, or let alone talked with a living person. The two of you had decided on meeting at a small coffee bar just down the road from your apartment, so it wasn’t that long of a walk for you. You were actually looking forward to seeing Brian again, as it had been a while since you saw him last.
The air was cool against your cheeks as you walked, and a small smile formed on your lips as you looked to the blue sky. It was peaceful being out in the open, and you missed being outside. As the small coffee bar slowly came into view, the smile on your face widened as you picked up the pace just a bit, your hair blowing gently behind you. As you pushed the door to the shop open, you were greeted by the wonderful smell of freshly brewed coffee and fresh-out-of-the-oven cookies, almost making your stomach growl at the delicious smell.
You scanned the shop for Brian, your eyes stopping only once you had spotted the back of his head. “Hey!” You called out for him, a gummy smile on your lips as you waved at him before making your way towards him. “Brian, it’s really good to see— J-jae?”
The smile on your face disappeared and your eyes widened in shock when you saw Brian turn to face you, Jae standing in front of him with a glum look on his features. You looked to Brian in question, your eyes filling with many emotions as you looked between the two of them. Jae had his hands folded behind his back, and his shoulders were hunched forward, almost as if to shield himself, as he kept his eyes downcast.
“I didn’t have any other way of getting you here, y/n,” Brian spoke as he stepped forward, gently grasping your shoulders to lead you back towards Jae. “I didn’t want to lie, but I wasn’t sure if I had any other choice.”
Only once you were standing in front of him did Jae look up from the ground, tears already in his eyes as he looked to you. “Y-y/n..” His voice was weak, and he sniffled a bit before he wrung his hands together. “I—I…” He couldn’t seem to form the words now that you were there in front of him, and he gulped as he blinked rapidly to try and get rid of the tears.
Jae was on the verge of falling apart. During that one month after the fight he had been tearing himself up. He knew that he was stupid to assume things, and he understood that he was at fault. Many time he’s had tried to call you, but his courage diminished as he began to think that you had indeed broken up with him. It killed him to think that he had possibly lost you for good. But here you were, standing in front of him with a look on your face that he never wished to see on you again; it was one of sorrow and hurt.
Tears began to stream down Jae’s face as he finally spoke, his hands clenched tightly in front of him as he sniffled harshly. “I’m so s-sorry that I just assumed things, it was stupid of me.” Jae looked away from your face and his gaze fell back to the ground, and your heart dropped as you took in his current state. “I-I just got jealous. I was w-worried about you, and I-I just assumed stupid shit and I’m so sorry for that!”
Your eyes were wide as he continued to speak, and soon enough tears formed in your eyes as well. Brian gave your shoulders a small squeeze before he let go of you, and he pressed a small kiss to your hair before taking a step back. “I—I know that this is a sorry excuse for an apology,” Jae spoke again, and he moved his gaze back to you, his bloodshot eyes and red face peering into yours. “But I just c-can’t bare the thought of leaving you. I shouldn’t have ever doubted—”
“Jae..” You sucked in a deep breath at his words, and you took hesitant steps forward as tears rolled down your cheeks. “I-I would never leave you over something as stupid as jealously.” You spoke softly, raising your hand slowly to gently cradle his wet cheek. Jae choked back a small sob, and he couldn’t help but lean into the warmth that your hand held. “I didn’t mean any of the things that I said, y/n.” He told you under his breath, and you reached forward with your other hand to grab his hand. “I’m so sorry.”
You suddenly surged forward, and you wrapped your arms around his shaking figure as he began to cry once again. Jae held on to you tightly, his face buried into your neck as tears rolled down his face in waves of guilt. You gently rubbed his back in a soothing manner, and you brought one hand up to run through his hair slowly as you buried your face into his shoulder. The two of you embraced each other greatly, holding on to one another as if your life depended on it.
“Don’t worry, Jae, apology definitely accepted.”
