Helen Sharp whose first solo song includes the lines

“I could feast on that for days” // “So delicious, so addicting” // “So we're going back for more” // “I found my true love and I finally feel whole”

Helen Sharp that spent the entire dinner avoiding food and dessert in order to “fit into a wedding dress” just to give in before her whole world crumbles around her.

Helen Sharp who’s been hungry for Madeline’s attention and approval and admiration since the moment she met her.

The trope of a woman’s hunger and craving being used a a metaphor for repressed desires and wants both sexual and non-sexual. And used perfectly for Helen Sharp in Act I just to then see her achieve almost everything that she wanted and then be shot in the stomach by the absolute object of her hunger and desire thus ironically being left empty by what she wanted the most.

not to be a little incoherent about madhel but my favorite thing about alive forever is that yes it’s about madeline and helen giving in to the fact that even through all the fuck up shit, it’s always been them, together. but a lot of alive forever is madeline singing bits of helen’s earlier motifs because everything madeline has done has been to keep helen’s attention on her, even if it meant to make her jealous. it’s been a mutual push and pull but lowkey madeline has always known what alive forever is about. that they’re each other’s persons. and a lot of what helen has always wanted was to find her person
