Synopsis: Being so far from home leaves Wild feeling homesick, so he reminisces over pictures of his lover.
~~~~~
“Let’s take a break here.” Sighs of relief echoed throughout the group as Time announced the temporary pause to their journey. A few quickly flopped to the ground to rest their aching bodies, the disturbance causing bugs to fly up around them when their backs hit the grass.
Wild lifted his head slightly to look around the group and saw everyone engrossed in their own tasks. Intending to take advantage of the momentary solitude, he took out his slate and began swiping through his photos.
He came to a stop as the cause of his homesickness appeared on the screen. Wild let out a deep sigh as he took in her features, her bright smile, the setting sun resting on her skin. He could almost hear her familiar laugh the longer he stared at the image. It’s in moments of stillness like this, in the absence of gruelling battle and strenuous traversing, that he craves for a portal to suddenly appear and take him home.
The next photo shows the same woman, this time tucked into Wild’s side as one arm wrapped around her waist to pull her close, while his other held up the slate to take the picture. He set the slate down on his chest for a second and closed his eyes, trying to relive the memory, imagining the heat of her body against his side and the feeling of her embrace around his torso. A small smile crept onto his face as he lifted the screen in front of his face again.
The warmth in his body was quickly replaced with a burning heat running through him upon swiping onto the next image. The two were in a similar position to the last photo except this time they were in their shared bed together with only a blanket covering their nude bodies up to their chests. The woman’s head turned slightly towards the camera from where it rested on Wild’s shoulder, sending a tired smile towards the camera. Wild’s face held a more mischievous smile, but his eyes looked equally as drowsy. It didn’t take long for Wild’s mind to fill with memories of that night, as well as the many others they’d shared together-
“What ya up to, champion?” Wild’s body shot upright and his hands fumbled with the slate, slamming it down into his lap. He turned to Twilight who stood looking at him with a curious gaze upon seeing Wild’s reaction to his voice and the red tint on the tips of his ears. “Catch ya at a bad time?”
Wild picked up on the rancher’s teasing tone and struggled to hide his panic. “NO! No, no- just… startled me is all.” He responded with a nervous laugh.
“Sure looked deep in thought over here, was worried ya were caught up in ya memories again. Looks like these ones were more… pleasant than usual, though.” Seeing Wild grow more flustered, Twilight stepped over to place a reassuring hand on his shoulder. “Hey, no judgement here, champion. We’re all men.” With a final teasing smirk, he walked away to leave Wild alone with his imagination once again.
Wild slowly lifted the slate from his lap. At least he could find solace in the fact that Twilight was the one to stumble upon him admiring the risqué picture. Hylia knows that some of the others would never let him live this down. With that thought, he closed out of his slate, deciding that the next few pictures of his lover were best saved for a more private setting.
This was meant to come out WEEKS ago but life got busy 😭 Anyway enjoy some fluff with precious, adorable, cutie Hyrule.
“I’ll never get used to that.” Legend muttered as he recovered from the nauseous feeling brought about from traveling through another portal.
Twilight looked around. “Anyone recognise this place?”
The group turned to Hyrule as he let out a gasp. “We’re in my era!” His eyes lit up and an excited smile formed on his face. “Come on! I’ll show you guys around!”
Wild tilted his head at Hyrule. “Shouldn’t we get some rooms at an inn first? Before they run out of space?”
“No need, I know a bar that keeps beds open in case people get too drunk.”
Warriors elbowed Legend in the side, earning a glare in response. “Didn’t think he was the type to frequent a bar.” He muttered.
Luckily, the portal had landed them just on the edge of town, so the group didn’t have to walk far to begin the tour of Hyrule’s homeland.
Eventually, they stopped in front of a tavern and the group watched in concern as Hyrule looked ready to burst from excitement.
“Link!” Immediately upon entering, a voice called out the name of the nine boys. The group looked on as Hyrule rushed over to a woman behind the bar. “Well, where have you been, honey?”
Hyrule felt himself relax at the sound of the familiar, sweet tone she directed at him. “It’s a long story…” He sheepishly responded.
As the group approached the bar, a few of them noticed the lovesick expression on Hyrule’s face. The gentle, adoring smile. The half lidded, loving eyes. The way his whole body seemed to almost lean over the bar to be as close to the woman as possible.
“Is he gonna introduce us...?” Four quietly asked.
“I don’t think he remembers we’re here.” Wild responds with a sigh.
The mysterious woman leans closer to Hyrule and places her hands on his cheeks when she takes notice of the boys behind him. “Aren’t you gonna introduce me to your friends, hon?” She asks with a teasing smile.
This snaps Hyrule out of his enamoured daze and he steps out of her touch, his head twisting in the direction of his companions. His face heats up as he feels slight embarrassment wash over him for accidentally forgetting about them. “Oh! We’ve been travelling together. I’d tell you their names, but we all share the same one.”
The woman turned to the group with a pleasant smile. “Well, it’s lovely to meet you all. I’m [Name], an old friend of this Link.” She shot a teasing smirk at Hyrule on the word ‘friend’ before turning back to the group. “You lot staying in town for long?”
Hyrule lifted a hand to sheepishly scratch the back of his head as he looked off to the side. “Yeah… a few days actually.”
“Aaand… you wanna crash here for that time?” Hyrule hesitantly nodded and found the courage to look her in the eye. [Name] couldn’t stop the giggle that left her at the sight of his puppy dog eyes. “Oh, honey! You didn’t even have to ask. Come round the back and I’ll show you where the beds are.”
Multiple voices echoed out their gratitude as they followed [Name] to the back of the bar. “Just in here, make yourselves at home!” [Name] began to make her way back to the bar, leaving the group to get settled. On her way out, she paused by Hyrule, brushing a hand over his shoulder. “Good to see you back, hon.” With one last gentle smile she left the room.
A few seconds of silence passed between the group before Wind broke the silence with an excited smile. “Is that your lover!?” A few of the men couldn’t hold back their laughs as Hyrule’s face turned red and he began frantically waving his hands around in front of him.
“No, no, no! We- We’re just friends! I mean- not that I wouldn’t mind her and I- but no! We’re just good friends and we’ve known each other for a long time!”
A teasing smile grew on Warrior’s face. “Oh, is that right? Hon.”
Time decided to step in and put a stop to the teasing as he placed a hand on Hyrule’s shoulder and offered a soft smile. “She seems lovely.”
Hyrule returned his smile before looking away with an adoring look on his face. “Yeah, she really is.”
Twilight caught his attention before he could start daydreaming again. “How’d y’all meet?”
~~~~~
“Link! Link! Oh, thank Hylia I caught you!” Hyrule turned to the person calling his name, recognising her as the owner of the popular local tavern.
“Miss Eileen! What’s wrong? Are you okay?” He gently guided the older woman to a nearby bench as she struggled to catch her breath, it seemed she had been running around looking for him.
She took a second to compose herself before rushing to speak through panting breaths. “Me? Yes, yes, I’m perfectly fine. But I desperately need your help!” She took a deep breath before continuing. “My niece, she… well, she’s been sick for some time, and her condition isn’t improving no matter what I try! And I’m getting more concerned about her health.” Hyrule placed a hand on her shoulder as tears welled in her eyes. “People in the bar mentioned your healing magic and suggested you could help her?” She finished with a hopeful look.
“I can certainly try… I can’t promise my magic will cure her illness, but I will absolutely try to help.” Hyrule responded nervously.
The two stood from the bench and made their way to the tavern. Eileen led Hyrule to the second floor and through a door where they were greeted by a frail looking woman, wrapped up in blankets with an uncomfortable look on her face.
“[Name]… dear, I brought someone who may be able to help.” Eileen gently shook the woman awake. [Name] opened her eyes and looked to the stranger beside her auntie. “You know Link, right?”
[Name] found the energy to let out a giggle. “Of course, auntie. Everyone knows his name.” Those few words caused her to release a few rasping coughs.
“I’m not sure if my magic will help, but I’ll try my best.” Hyrule’s words caused [Name] to look up at him with a soft smile.
“I appreciate your effort, either way.”
Over the next few weeks, Hyrule would visit whenever he could and use his healing magic on [Name]. Every time, throughout the hours spent by [Name]’s side, the two would talk about everything and anything. Sometimes [Name] would just listen, having to take a break to rest her sore throat, but either way, both enjoyed each other’s company.
Within the first week, [Name] showed slight improvement. She appeared less groggy, her eyes less bloodshot, and her face more relaxed as Hyrule’s magic soothed some of her pain.
Within the second week, she could sit up without any help, she had less trouble keeping food down, and she began to look less frail.
Within the third week, she’d recovered enough to take short walks around the town and Hyrule would accompany her to nearby stores to window shop. He’d take note of things she commented on, anything she seemed to admire, then surprise her during the next visit with a gift. [Name]’s admitted to him that her favourite was when he brought pastries that they could share and enjoy together.
In the fourth week, she had fully recovered.
“I don’t know how I’ll ever thank you, Link”
Hyrule sent a gentle smile her way. “There’s no need to. I’m glad my magic helped.”
“You might’ve saved my life for all we know! I was feeling worse and worse by the day before you came along.” [Name] felt Hyrule take her hands in his own.
“The best thanks I got was seeing you recover and getting to spend as much time with you as I did.” Hyrule’s words caused [Name] to look down at their hands shyly before a sudden thought crossed her mind.
Before she could back out of the idea, she leant forward and laid a soft kiss on Hyrule’s cheek. “I enjoyed spending time with you too… If… If you’d like, I wouldn’t mind seeing you more often.” She sent him a tender smile, relishing in the surprised look on Hyrule’s face and the red creeping up his ears.
Shaking himself out of his thoughts, he returned her smile and his face formed into an adoring look. “I’d like that too.” His smile widened when [Name] sprang forward to wrap her arms around his neck, quickly wrapping his arms around her waist in a warm embrace.
~~~~~
Silence settled over the group once more when Hyrule finished rambling about his story. Once again, Wind was the one to break the silence. “So… you haven’t even started courting her yet?”
Hyrule’s face burned in embarrassment at the call out. “Better get a move on before someone else comes along and sweeps her off her feet!” Warriors teased as he slung an arm around Hyrule’s shoulder.
“Who knows? Maybe you’ll get a goodbye kiss from her before we leave!” Four chimed in with a teasing smirk.
“Okay! Okay! I’ll… I’ll talk to her…” Hyrule ducked out of Warrior’s hold and looked off to the side, struggling to keep his anxiety from showing on his face.
Wild stepped over to him and nudged him in the arm. “Hey, you don’t gotta be so nervous. From what we’ve seen and heard, I’d say she’s just as smitten with you!”
Hyrule glanced around at the others. “Are you sure?” He asked quietly. Groans resounded throughout the group at the man’s obliviousness.
“I think you’re the only one that doesn’t notice it…” Legend grumbled in response.
Wind piped up from where he was jumping on the bed. “It’s cause he’s too busy making heart eyes at her!”
“Settle down, don’t break the bed.” Time turned to Hyrule with a reassuring look on his face. “Really, you shouldn’t hesitate. Taking that step will certainly benefit the both of you.”
Hyrule felt his nerves calm slightly from everyone’s encouragement. He couldn’t deny that he was still worried that she didn’t feel the same, but he was determined to talk to her before they left to continue their journey. There’s nothing he’d wish for more than to relish in more of her loving touches.
“She can ride on Epona if you get too tired.” Wild looked at Twilight as he adjusted his grip on [Name]’s thighs, making sure she was secure against his back.
“Nah, don’t worry, I got her.” [Name] tightened her arms around his shoulders. She knew it would probably be more comfortable to ride Epona, but she was enjoying the closeness with Wild.
The only thing keeping the smile off her face was the lecture she’d just received from Time and the ache in her sprained ankle. Hyrule could’ve easily healed it and they had plenty of potions, but she insisted that it wasn’t that bad and they shouldn’t waste Hyrule’s energy or their supplies on it.
“Sooo, why were you in a tree?” Wild’s voice snapped [Name] out of her quiet sulking.
“I was tryna reach the apples…” She muttered. “You said you were craving apple pie yesterday.”
Wild’s eyes widened in surprise as heat creeped up his face. He turned his head so [Name] could see him smile at her. “I appreciate that, but next time you plan on climbing a tree let me know so I can stand underneath and catch you.” He wasn’t gonna tell her that his slate was already packed with apples.
[Name] buried her face in the side of Wild’s neck to hide her flustered face. “Okay.” She whispered. “Love you.”
Wild began to move his thumbs to caress her thighs before whispering back, “Love you too.” He spent the rest of the day walking with a soft smile on his face.
Finally wrote part 2! This ended up going completely different to what I had originally planned but it would've probably been WAY too long if I'd gone with my first idea for this. Anyway, enjoy!
~~~~~
The chain was distracted with packing away their things, getting ready to leave their current camp, when Twilight approached [Name]. She was caught off guard by him asking her to talk in private but followed without question. Twilight shot a look over to Time, making sure someone was aware of their absence before leading [Name] a little away from the group.
“Did I do something wrong?” He decided not to beat around the bush, wanting to understand what had happened to their friendship and left it so broken.
[Name]’s eyes widened slightly. “What?... No, of course not.” She looked away from him, her eyes darting in the direction of the camp like she wanted to end the conversation as quickly as possible and run away from it.
Twilight furrowed his eyebrows. “Then why do you avoid me?” Silence lingered between them for a few seconds. “[Name]… what happened to make you so distant? Just tell me, please.”
[Name] stayed silent for a few more moments before muttering so quietly that Twilight almost didn’t hear. “I’m… I’m not. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“[Name]…” Twilight was beginning to feel frustrated. They used to be so close, but she almost feels like a stranger now. And to make it worse, she denies the distance between them instead of communicating with him. “Don’t lie to me. If you don’t want to be around me, just say so! But at least give me a reason instead of pretending nothing’s happening! Just talk to me, please!”
Tears formed in [Name]’s eyes with the pressure she felt building inside her. Not because of Twilight’s confrontation, but because she’d bottled up her feelings for so long that she felt ready to explode. And seeing Twilight so affected by her actions, it was all too much. So, before she could stop herself, everything came flooding out. “I’m in love with you, okay!? I’m so in love with you that I couldn’t stand being around you because it hurt too much to watch you love someone else!” She couldn’t hold back her tears as she cried out her confession. “So, stop making it so hard for me to get over you. You’re so caring and kind and it just makes it so hard not to love you. It’s not fair, Link! Just leave me alone so these feelings go away.” She was rambling at this point, sharply inhaling between each sentence as tears ran down her face. Finally, she broke down into sobs and turned her whole body around, unable to look at Twilight’s reaction.
Immediately, she felt arms wrap around her body from behind. Twilight held her close as he waited for her cries to calm, knowing she wouldn’t listen to anything he said while in this state of distress. Eventually, her breathing had evened out, and her sobs had simmered down to quiet sniffles. Twilight opened his mouth to speak but stopped when he heard [Name] talk again, her voice barely above a whisper. “I can accept that you’re in love with Midna… but it still hurts. That’s why I needed time away from you. I’m sorry for not talking to you about it.”
She felt Twilight’s whole body tense up behind her. “What?... What are you talking about? Who ever said I was in love with Midna?” His arms slowly unwound from her body, his hand grasping her arm and gently turning her to face him. Looking into his eyes, she could see the genuine confusion and astonishment written all over his face as he processed what she said.
Her mouth opened and closed a few times as she tried to find the right words to navigate this situation she created. “I… I thought you…”
Suddenly, Twilight’s face contorted into one of mixed sorrow and disappointment. “So… So, you just… assumed… instead of speaking to me? You decided it was the definite conclusion without knowing my actual feelings.” Hearing it said out loud like that made her look to the ground between them as shame covered her face. She knew in that moment that she had made a mistake and avoiding him was the worst thing she could’ve done because if she had just spoken to him, she wouldn’t have suffered in silence for so long. Twilight couldn’t deny the frustration he felt that she didn’t speak to him before surmising what his feelings were, but he could understand her fears and reluctance to talk about it. So, with the hand that wasn’t still placed on her arm, he cupped her face, gently tilting it upwards and looked into her eyes. “I wish you would’ve spoken to me sooner, if you had then… I could’ve told you how much I love you too.”
[Name]’s eyes widened in shock. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She had spent so long trying to come to peace with him loving somebody else that her mind almost couldn’t process his words. “You… what…” She took a deep breath and felt tears building in her eyes again, but this time it was paired with a relieved sigh and bright smile. “Do you really?” Her voice was barely above a whisper.
Twilight’s hands shifted to rest on her waist and he returned her smile. “Of course I do. Is that so unbelievable?” His smile dropped a little as he remembered what she had said before. “And about Midna… I know I was really upset when she left but that’s because she had become a good friend to us and I was mourning the loss of that friend. I’m sorry that I made it seem like it was anything more than that.”
“No, don’t say sorry… It wasn’t your fault that I assumed how you felt.” [Name] placed her hands on his shoulders and leaned closer to him. “So, you really… love me too?”
Twilight laughed. “How many times do you need to hear it to believe me?” Then in a quiet voice he added, “Because I’ll say it as many times as I can until the day I die if that’s what it takes, darlin.” [Name] felt her cheeks heat up as Twilight’s eyes glanced down at her lips. “I love you… so, so much.” He whispered.
“I love you, too.” They began to lean closer and their eyes fluttered closed. She felt like her heart jumped when their lips finally connected. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders and his tightened around her waist to pull her closer. He tilted his head to deepen the kiss-
“There you guys are!” They jumped away from each other and turned to see Wild stepping through the trees. It seemed he hadn’t seen their closeness from where he called out to them, if he had then he’d no doubt be teasing Twilight about it by now. “We’re all ready to head out when you are.”
The two shared a look, a silent promise that things would be better between them from now on. “We’re ready, just needed to stretch our legs while we waited for y’all.” Wild smiled and rolled his eyes at Twilight’s words and turned to make his way back to camp. As [Name] and Twilight followed behind Wild, Twilight took [Name]’s hand in his own and gave it a gentle squeeze. He sent her a soft smile before leaning over to whisper, “I love you.” Leaving a kiss on the side of her head before looking forward.

Synopsis = Princess [Name] couldn’t stand seeing her soldiers injured, so she studied hard to become a healer. One day, she’s enjoying a day with her sister, princess Zelda, when a trusted healer informs her of inappropriate behaviour towards the captain occurring in the medical wing.
~~~~~
“Thank goodness we didn’t burn them this time!” Zelda laughed as she walked down the hallway with her sister.
“9th times a charm, sister! Save some cookies for me. I’ll talk to you later.” [Name] responded before splitting off from Zelda to go visit the castle’s infirmary.
Zelda waved her off and shouted down the hallway, “Don’t work yourself too hard, sister!”
[Name] was abruptly stopped as she turned a corner when a fellow medic almost ran into her. “Miss [Name]! Thank goodness, there- there you are. I was run- running all over-” The girl panted out as she hunched over with her hands on her knees to catch her breath.
“Vardia, catch your breath first. Here, sit down.” [Name] placed a hand on her shoulder, gently ushering her to sit on a nearby bench, and patiently waited for Vardia to steady her breathing.
After a few minutes, Vardia had calmed down and turned to the princess. “Miss [Name], I apologise for interrupting your day with your sister, but there’s something that I must tell you about!”
“Oh, don’t worry about that. I was just on my way to check on the infirmary anyway. So, please tell me what has you in such a stressed state!” If [Name] had to pick one of the healers that she trusts the most, it would be Vardia. She worked hard to help the soldiers, always had everybody’s best interest at heart, and was always willing to listen and learn.
Vardia looked down at her hands as she began to fiddle with her fingers. “Well, last night the captain came in with some injuries- only minor ones, so no cause for alarm! And when I tried to approach him, Frey and Gera insisted that they would work on him. I didn’t think anything of it at first, but I noticed that as he slept, they seemed to be gushing over him and… admiring his looks and even went as far as to touch his hair and face. I told them that they should let him rest and heal in peace, so they left him alone for the rest of the night but not without sending nasty looks my way every now and then.”
Vardia’s eyebrows furrowed and she took a deep breath before continuing. “Then… the next morning when he awoke, they were even worse. They would check on him every few minutes, holding his arm and pressing themselves into him. He told them many times that he was fine and to give their attention to the other patients, but they were relentless. I couldn’t take seeing him so uncomfortable and I didn’t want to interrupt you day with your sister, so I tried to discharge him from the infirmary, but Frey and Gera insisted that he had to stay longer. He left anyway, despite their words, and they spent the rest of the day being rather hostile with me.” She looked at [Name] with determination in her eyes. “I have no care for how they treat me! But I can’t stay silent about their behaviour towards captain Link! So, I had to find you and inform you of this incident.”
[Name] stayed silent for a moment, taking in Vardia’s words. “Thank you for trusting me with this information Vardia. But please in the future never feel as though you can’t come to me with any issue at any time. It doesn’t matter what I am doing, my focus is on my healers and my soldiers. Their hostile behaviour towards you is enough cause for concern to me, but to also have such inappropriate behaviour towards the captain… I refuse to have healers in my infirmary who make my soldiers uncomfortable when they come to us for help.”
Vardia’s eyes widened in surprise. She had expected them to be disciplined, of course, but to be dismissed from their jobs made her feel guilty and her face must have shown that.
“I can tell what you’re thinking and It’s not your fault, their own behaviour has led to this, okay?” [Name] reassured her.
“Yes, miss [Name]. Thank you.” [Name] placed a hand on Vardia’s shoulder and gave her a soft smile.
“Focus on your work and your studies. I’ll handle the rest from here.” With that, [Name] stood and began to make her way to the training grounds.
~~~~~
“I apologise for pulling you away from your training.” [Name] and Link walked side by side down an empty trail through the woods. He had been taking a break on the sidelines when she approached him and asked him to go on a walk with her.
“No need to apologise, princess [Name].”
“Just [Name] is fine.” They stopped walking once they reached a shaded clearing and turned to look at each other.
Link nodded. “Then, [Name], may I ask why you requested this walk with me.”
“This may be an uncomfortable conversation, and I apologise for that, but I’ve been alerted that you had a rather negative experience under the care of two of my healers. I’ve heard what they did, but I would like to hear your side if that’s okay with you.” Link looked at her face. She didn’t look at him with pity or blame, just soft reassurance.
Link took a deep breath. “What you’ve heard is correct.” He felt his skin crawl at the memory of their forced touch.
“Were you comfortable with them touching you that way?”
Silence lingered between them for a few moments. “No.” Link’s voice was barely above a whisper. “No, I was not.”
[Name] looked down at the ground and nodded her head. “Understood.” She didn’t allow the disappointment and shame she felt to show on her face. She couldn’t help but feel responsible for those she allowed onto her team of healers. She lowered her head to Link. “I’m deeply sorry you experienced that. I assure you that is not the kind of behaviour that I expect of my healers. I will do my best to assure this never happens again under my rule.”
Link placed a hand on [Name]’s shoulder. “Please, do not lower your head to me. I appreciate that you went out of your way to speak to me. And I know this is an uncommon occurrence in your infirmary.” He waited for her to lift her head before smiling softly at her.
She returned his smile. “Well, I’ll let you get back to your training. Thank you for your time, and please let me know if you experience anything like this again and I will handle it for you.”
~~~~~
“Did you hear what happened at the castle infirmary?” Link paused in his steps. “Apparently princess [Name] dismissed two of the medics the other day.” He’d been on a walk through the town when a conversation caught his attention.
“They weren’t just dismissed! She barred them both from being in the kingdom and threatened to have them imprisoned if they didn’t leave immediately.”
The first voice gasped. “Really!? I wonder what they did to receive such a harsh punishment.”
“I have a friend who works in the castle infirmary and all she heard was that the princess was disgusted with their behaviour.”
Their voices became more faded as they walk further from Link. He thought about what they said for a moment before looking over at the florist across the street.
~~~~~
[Name] walked into the infirmary and was greeted by Vardia’s teasing smile. “Miss [Name], welcome back!”
She smiles back at Vardia. “What’s got you so giddy?”
Vardia let out a giggle. “Captain Link visited earlier.” She looked over to [Name]’s office. “He left you a gift.”
Surprise and confusion washed over [Name] and after a moment of shock she slowly moved over to her office. Upon opening the door, she was greeted by a huge bouquet of her favourite flowers. She walked closer and noticed a note tucked between the flowers.
‘Thank you’
~~~~~
From that day onwards, Link would show up at the infirmary every chance he got and every time he would request for [Name] to work on him.
“Link this is barely a paper cut!” [Name] held his finger in between their faces.
“But it really stings, [Name]. I can’t focus on my training.” He replied with a grin.
She let out a sigh. “Well, how would you like me to help with that.”
He looked hesitant for a moment. “I think a relaxing walk with you would help me focus.” His voice was quiet and almost sounded timid.
[Name] was silent for a moment before a soft smile formed on her face. Link had been coming to the infirmary for paper cuts and pea sized bruises for weeks just to have an excuse to converse with her, but this was the first time he’d asked her this. “That sounds like a lovely idea.”
The two walked for a few minutes before they sat on a bench in a quiet area of the castle gardens. They enjoyed the serenity for a moment before [Name] broke the silence. “Feeling better?”
“A little, I think I need some more time to rest my wound.” Link cradled his finger like he’d broken it. [Name] giggled and missed the soft, adoring look sent her way. The two were quiet for a beat before Link spoke again with a more serious tone. “I’ve been meaning to thank you, [Name].”
She tilted her head at him in confusion before she realised what he meant. She suddenly felt guilt wash over her and looked down at the ground. Was this why he’d been visiting her and asked her to walk with him today? Because he felt obligated to repay her somehow after she dismissed the two medics who harassed him? “Link… you don’t need to thank me for doing the right thing. Please don’t feel as though you owe me anything.”
Link could sense her change in mood. “I don’t feel that way. I bought you those flowers because I wanted to, I visit you because I enjoy your presence, I talk to you because I enjoy our conversations.” He placed a hand on her shoulder and gave her a reassuring smile as she lifted her head and looked at him.
She processed his words for a moment before letting out a sigh of relief. “I’m glad to hear that.” She smiled back at him. “Speaking of, I was wondering how you knew what my favourite flowers are.”
He jolted at her words and tried to hide his face when he felt heat creeping onto his cheeks. “Ah… just a lucky guess.” He spoke with an awkward laugh, trying to brush it off. [Name] lifted an eyebrow at him but chose not to say anything else about it and turned to watch the butterflies flutter around the garden.
They both sat in silence, enjoying each other’s company. Link looked over at her and felt himself get lost in his thoughts. He was glad to know that her favourite flowers had remained the same after all this time. She’d told him only once, but he always remembered. Despite the many years that had passed since they played together in the gardens as children, despite her forgetting that she’d told him her favourite flowers, he remembered.
~~~~~
A routine had settled between Link and [Name]. Despite their busy schedules, they’d find the time to see visit each other. Whether it would be Link visiting the castle infirmary or [Name] visiting the training grounds. They had less time to see together outside of these visits, but they still managed to make their walks together a weekly occurrence at least.
Eventually, [Name] felt herself falling for him. It took a while for her to acknowledge her change in feelings, and even longer for her to accept them. With these feelings came guilt. She felt guilty for being dishonest with how she felt about him, but she’d feel even guiltier if she told him about her feelings. It was a complex situation, and she couldn’t help but think that if she told him, he’d feel pressured to reciprocate her love because of the power imbalance between them. No matter how humble she was, she was still the princess after all. If she confessed and he felt obligated to court her, she’d be no worse than those women that she dismissed.
So, she repressed these feelings. She continued with their friendship as though nothing had changed. Despite the ache it caused in her heart.
Then came the day that Link and [Name] stumbled upon a strange portal on one of their walks. They returned to the castle to make a report on it before Link informed [Name] that he was going to investigate it further and was unsure how long he’d be gone for. She walked with him back to the portal and they shared a long embrace as they said their goodbyes to each other.
“I’ll try to come back soon.” Link pulled back from the hug to see [Name]’s face but kept his arms around her waist.
[Name] looked up at him with a sad smile and slowly pulled her hands back from where they were resting on his shoulders. “I’ll be waiting for you.” She reluctantly took a step back, causing Link’s arms to fall back to his sides.
He shared her sad smile before turning to the portal and with one final look over his shoulder, he stepped through. [Name] stood silently for a moment as the smile slowly faded from her face before making her way back to the castle.
~~~~~
Days passed since Link left, then weeks, then a month. [Name] felt herself become more worried for him as the time went on. She knew he was strong and could handle himself, but he was investigating something they’d never seen before completely alone. What if he got hurt and had nobody to heal him? What if he was trapped somewhere thinking nobody would come save him?
After a month had passed [Name] couldn’t just anxiously sit around waiting for him anymore. She found herself unable to focus on anything but her concern for Link. It seems her sister had noticed too since when [Name] approached her to inform her that she wanted to go search for him, Zelda smiled like she had already known her sister’s stubborn mind had already decided.
She remembered when [Name] expressed her concern for their soldiers and how adamant she was in opening an infirmary under her care to have a hand in helping them when they required medical attention. Zelda was so proud when she saw how hard her sister worked to become a healer herself and could tell that nothing would stop her when she’d made up her mind.
So, with a hug and request that [Name] come back to her in one piece, she let her sister go.
It only took three days and five portals before [Name] stumbled upon the camp where Link was currently residing, along with eight others who shared the same name. [Name] spotted the captain before any of the boys noticed her and she felt relief wash over her as a bright smile formed on her face. “Link!”
The nine boys turned to her, eight of them reaching for their weapons upon not recognising the voice. The captain ran across the camp towards her and grabbed onto her arms. “[Name]!? What are you doing here? How did you get here? Are you hurt anywhere?” His eyes scanned over her, needing to confirm for himself that she was unharmed.
[Name] clutched onto his scarf as tears filled her eyes. “Yes, I’m fine! But what about you? You’ve been gone for a month!”
His hands slid down her arms and settled on her waist as he looked into her eyes. “I know, I’m sorry. I didn’t think it would take this long but something happened and-“ He stopped suddenly and furrowed his eyebrows. “What are you even doing here?”
“I went through the portal and came looking for you.” Her words caused panic to surge through the captain.
“What!? Why would you do that!? Do you know how dangerous that was!? What if something attacked you!? You don’t have any fighting experience. You could’ve been killed [Name]!”
“Well, I’m here and I’m fine! I couldn’t sit around doing nothing when you could’ve been hurt and alone somewhere!”
“It doesn’t matter what happens to me! You should’ve stayed at the castle! If you had gotten hurt because of me-“
The rest of the group stayed silent and watched on in concern as the two shout at each other. They’d never heard the captain so scared before.
“I’m sorry, okay!? But I was just so worried about you…” [Name]’s voice wavered as tears began falling down her face.
The sound and sight of her crying snapped the captain out of his panic, and he surged forward to wrap his arms around her, one hand caressing the back of her head while his other arm encircled her torso. He tucked his face into the top of her head to hide his own tears that had begun to build. He felt her return his embrace with her arms around his waist. “I’m sorry for yelling. But promise me you won’t ever put yourself in danger for me again, okay?”
She sniffled. “I can’t promise that, Link.”
“Please… I can’t relax knowing you could be hurt because you’re worried about me.”
[Name]’s arms tightened around him. “I can’t. I… I care about you too much.”
The captain stayed silent for a moment before sighing in defeat. “Then promise to stay by my side, okay?” He felt her nod against his chest, but no more words were shared.
PART 2
Tags: slight angst, slight fluff, Twilight x fem reader
Word count: 590
Summary: [Name] has feelings for Twi but distances herself because she thinks he's in love with Midna. Wolfie is tryna cuddle with [Name].
~~~~~
[Name] had been by his side since they were children. She remembers when they’d play in the fields together, when they’d work with the animals together, when they’d babysit the village children together, when they’d saved Hyrule together. She remembers how he looked at Midna, how he mourned when she left. [Name] was the one to hold him when he cried himself to sleep over her.
She was there by his side through everything. Until he recovered from the loss of Midna. Then she distanced herself from him. He had healed, but she hadn’t. [Name] doesn’t remember when she fell for him, she just remembers the pain of watching him long for somebody else. So, she distanced herself or at least she tried to. She’d try to avoid him, but he always somehow knew where to find her.
She couldn’t tell him why she no longer wanted to be by his side. She couldn’t tell him how she felt about him when his heart so obviously belonged to another. All she could do is hope that her feelings would fade and their friendship could go back to what it was. Then they found themselves on another journey together. Along with 8 others who shared a name with the man she loved.
~~~~~
Wild’s attention is torn away from preparing dinner when he hears Wolfie whine for the third time in the last minute. Following Wolfie’s gaze, he sees [Name] sat at the edge of camp, leant back against a tree with her eyes closed.
“Why don’t you just go over there?” Wild turns back to the pot of food. “Instead of sitting here and staring at her like a kicked puppy.” He mutters the last part, but Wolfie still hears him and shows his distaste for the comment with the meanest glare he can muster while in this form. Wild glances at the wolf beside him. “Oh, I see…” A teasing smirk slowly forms on Wild’s face. “You’re too scared to approach her.” Wolfie growls in response. Wild shrugs and continues to stir the pot. “Prove me wrong then.”
Wolfie huffs at him before standing and slowly making his way over to [Name] with his tail tucked between his legs. He yips a greeting and lays down beside her. She glances down at him but makes no other move to acknowledge his presence. Wolfie leans over to gently lick her face, but she turns her head away, so he nudges her side with his head and whimpers to gain her attention. [Name] lets out a deep sigh before looking down at him, feeling slightly guilty at the sound of his whimper.
Wolfie’s ears perk up and he leans over to lick her face once more, hearing Wild laugh at his dilemma from the cooking pot. [Name] gives in to his affections, finally placing a hand on his head to scratch behind his ears. Wolfie shuffles closer to put his head in her lap, unaware of Wild taking pictures with his slate.
“Why do you have to make things so much harder for me?” Wolfie almost didn’t hear the question from how quietly [Name] whispered it. He sat up and tilted his head at her, but she just sighed and went back to petting him. “Never mind… it doesn’t matter.” While he wanted to discuss it further, there was little he could do to question her while in his wolf form. For now, he leaned into her hand and enjoyed her affection while making a mental note to talk to her later.
Thinking I wanna write a part two or multiple parts for this because I can only take angst when it has a happy ending and I'd love to make them have some healthy communication so they can confess to each other and kith <3
This is kinda a ramble post so ignore if you like! I really wanna write for this fandom cuz it's my current top obsession and there is not enough xreader fics but I've literally NEVER written fanfic in my life, only read it. Also super busy with Uni [which should calm down soon] so I'd be slow at writing and posting.
ANYWAY, this post is just to motivate me to start writing / posting. Never even posted on tumblr before haha [first time, kinda nervous]
If you read my rambles to this point, have a great day!!! :D <3
Sending you a magic beam of motivation! I believe in you! I’m not a good writer either, I’m not good at writing long form stuff, but I can kinda write drabbles/oneshots. Maybe start off with that!
