On the Severance podcast, they talked about this scene.

Adam and Britt were emotionally wrecked during the filming, which lasted most of the day. They couldn’t stop crying. When Ben Stiller walked over to give Britt notes, his eyes were full of tears while watching them.

Britt: “I remember it being an emotional day. The lights were low. It created a mood. It felt like there was an ending coming. It felt like we were working on this show for 4-5 years. I couldn’t stop crying. This was a goodbye scene.”

Adam: “I remember looking at the computer screen, and then I finally look over at you, Britt, and you were just a wreck — I felt very connected to you. We were just really in it. We were just really in the show. And it was our whole lives. This really meant a lot, this moment, we had to fucking… say goodbye. It was so sad.”

Britt: “It felt like time travelling to me. It was time travelling back in time and forward in time. At the same time. Imagining the first scene we ever shot at MDR. And then time travelling and imagining the last scene. And then it’s like I’m sixteen, now I’m my age, now I’m seventy…”

Thinking about how Helena was the one who saw Mark after the extension cord incident. Millchick says that Helly didn’t wake up Helena did. So this?

Is Helena looking at Mark who she either doesn’t know yet or only knows as a random Severed employee. She’s hearing him scream for help as he gets her down. She’s feeling him carry her, she’s hearing him call “Helly!” Over and over again with great concern in his voice, she’s seeing him have to be convinced and yelled at to leave her side.

I think this is what leads us here.

She stops the tape here. On Mark. She recognizes him from that day. The man who saved her. So she follows him around the building seeing where she goes and then she sees him talking to Helly. Herself essentially. And then.

She finds out. This man who saved her? Saved her because he loves Helly. That’s why she watched it so many times. Helena has never been loved before. But here he is. Loving her. He saved her. And he loves her. Just….its not really her. I can see why she rewound that tape.
