We must call each other back to ourselves. Through poetry, through sincerity, through sharing, through attention. Everyday language has the tendency to trivialize our existence and numb us to what is possible.

I subscribed to UNNAMED STREAMING SERVICE a few days ago and gave the login info to all my friends, as one does, but one of them went in and turned on 2-factor authentication and set the phone number to her own cell phone, locking me out of the account
It was an accident and we got it fixed but for a brief moment the betrayal and fury was so great I blacked out and was possessed by the spirit of like a 19th century naval officer, I was pacing around my room like "TO THINK THAT JUDAS HIMSELF NUMBERS HIMSELF AMONG MY COMPATRIOTS"
I need to leave this country and see something else
am always obsessed when someone says to a character “call off your dog” about another character.
Do you think part of Helen's dislike of Carol's books (including Bitter Chrysalis) stemmed from how sad they made her? Like, even on a subconscious level, Helen would have sensed Carol writing from a place of shame and angst. Like, I can see reading love scenes between Lucasia and Raban as being uncomfortable and maybe painful for Helen. Carol's new found freedom (generous usage of the term) to write about her desires openly allows her to create from a place of joy and relief, which many people argue is an inherently more appealing, easier to love type of art. Like it could very well/probably is a simple matter of taste but I can't overlook that the Wycaro books were ultimately a representation of Carol's shame.
I think she would have liked the new stuff.
I think she would have liked the final version of Bitter Chrysalis (or whatever Carol would have changed its name to by the time it was published) that would have come after Raban's transition.
Ya know what would be so fucked? If we saw the scene where Carol’s mom tells her she’s sending her to conversion camp and it’s legit the same exact scene as when she found out the hive stole her eggs. “If you loved me you wouldn’t do this” “We’re doing this because we love you”

I have always noticed that during the kiss--the lighting makes it so after a point, Rio regains more of a human skintone than the monochromatic gray that she has as Death. I sort of like the idea it is related to the Sacred Balance. I fully realize it is just lighting, but...
In a video on costuming, discussing Rio's Death costume--I remember Daniel Selon bringing up how the costume seems to grow up and strangle Rio.
Just thinking about the Sacred Balance literally weighing on her physical being... Oh to be a concept made physical, and then that physical form is like actually... suffering for you!
I'm sure the four tempers in Severance remind most of you of the four humors! (black bile, phlegm, yellow bile, blood.) did you know each one came with a "temperament" though?
the four temperaments were melancholic (sad), phlegmatic (calm and reserved), choleric (angry) and sanguine (happy). each of these was associated with an excess of one of the humors in the body.
these match up to Kier Eagan's four tempers pretty well imo:
the goal was to keep all four in balance, much like Kier argues for taming the tempers. according to Wikipedia, the four temperaments theory was "abandoned after the 1850s". Lumon was founded in 1865.
read my post about alchemy in Severance for unhinged takes on what this could mean.
