here's the thing about sniping:
so i decided to try my hand at sniping a couple days ago & ive been pretty good at it (~15 smokes in the past two days is decent i think?) but i have this constant fear that people hate me for it? like there's a lot of negativity surrounding it (esp in that one suggestions thread about raising mp stock & esp regarding smoke i think) & i'm... a really nonconfrontational person who pretty much burritos in a blanket & cries whenever someone yells at me
and like.. i totally get it okay i totally get the frustration at getting hit with that "oops you were too slow" message after waiting hours just to get a glimpse of that swirly pattern. i totally get not wanting to pay the ~70k ah markup for something you can supposedly get yourself
but like.. here's the thing: sniping honestly takes a shitload of time & effort. it's exhausting. you have to check at five minutes, every five minutes & 90% of the time the thing you're going after doesn't even stock which is annoying as heck & even if it does, there's a 90% chance you won't get there first. when i'm actively trying & really paying attention, i average maybe 1 smoke an hour when i'm getting lucky, & maybe 1 smoke every 3 hours when i'm not. so i mean that 70k markup (a markup which, by the way, is going down by the day) really doesn't translate to that much profit per hour when you do the math. a beginner coli grinder can easily make 20k an hour; an experienced one can swing the 70k (i've been there before)
so i guess that's my defense of sniping. i get that people find it annoying; i get that people just wanna gene their babies without paying more than they need to; i feel you, i really do. but i just.. i dont know ive really enjoyed sniping tbh its really great for someone like me who thrives on instant satisfaction & is willing to hang out in the mp for hours on end and i'd love for it to become something i do consistently so i dont have to rely on breeding so much, but i hate the idea that someone out there thinks of me as some hardcore coldhearted capitalist who's totally stomping on everyone else's fun solely to make some treasure
