Pre - Star Wars Rebels Fanfic
I wrote this short story / fan fiction before the end of the clone wars tv series and the start of star wars rebels. I found it the other day while searching some old files and thought that it might be enjoyed here by others. The story is called “THE DARK TIMES” Let me know what you think. :)
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....
Republic destroyed. Chancellor Palpatine was revealed to be the Sith Lord behind the Clone Wars and has declared himself Emperor of the galaxy. With the help of his new apprentice Darth Vader the Jedi Order is all but destroyed and any opposition lies in hiding out of fear.
Some of the surviving Jedi remain hidden while others continue to plot ways of defeating the Sith in order to once again bring true peace to the galaxy.
One of these Jedi is on her way to Coruscant right now to embark in an important meeting which could change the fate of the entire Galaxy.
A public transport cargo freighter jumped out of hyperspace and entered the atmosphere of Coruscant, the new Imperial core world. It had been almost 4 years since the Galactic Republic had been undermined by the Sith and converted into an evil Empire led by fear under the supreme command of Emperor Palpatine also known as Darth Sidious. The Jedi Order was taken by surprise and even though they did their best to save the Republic their mighty order was smashed leading to only a few surviving and going into exile. One of these Jedi was on this very freighter with a very important mission to carry out.
Her name was Ahsoka Tano. She was the Padawan of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars but she left the Jedi Order before the fall of the Republic due to her distrust in the Jedi Council. Therefore she was forgotten about by the Empire as she was no longer a Jedi and they were not searching for her. In her exile though she had decided to retain her Jedi teachings and had built new lightsabers identical to those she utilised during the Clone Wars. One was a standard green lightsaber and the other was a shorter green blade called a Shoto. Under her cloak these weapons were easily concealed and she was safe from Imperial detection.
"The ship is approaching the landing platform" a droid pilot said as he spoke through the speakers.
"Perfect" Ashoka thought to herself.
"Now all I have to do is get me to level 1315 and see if I can find my contact." With that thought the ship docked and she exited down the ramp and began her journey to the lower levels of Coruscant. Along the way she passed some very strange beings. This is where all of the criminals and scum live their daily lives of drug dealing and gambling so getting lost here is not something you would want to do unless you were looking for trouble.
Three hours later Ahsoka was walking down the mag lev station when three Imperial stormtroopers spotted her and asked her to show them her identification. As she attempted to pull out her ID her shoto slipped off her belt and fell onto the floor giving away her cover. The troopers immediately identified her as a Jedi and began firing their blasters at her. Picking up her shoto and activating her primary weapon she began deflecting the fire from the troopers. One trooper fell quickly as a blast was deflected into him. The second got his head removed by her throwing her shoto at him and the third was impaled through the chest with her lightsaber. "I've got to get away from here fast before more come looking for me" she whispered to herself as she ran into the mag lev train.
The train took her to one of the large elevators that went down into the lower levels of the planet's underworld. "You have reached level 1315" a mechanical voice informed as Ahsoka got out of the lift. "Okay. Now I need to go and find my contact before I get caught again." She pulled out a holomap which showed her the cantina she was meant to go to. It was just a few streets away from where she was. Out of nowhere she suddenly felt a powerful disturbance in the Force. An old enemy of hers was stalking her from afar.
Ahsoka managed to just activate her emerald lightsaber in time to deflect the blaster shot that came towards her. She looked in the direction where the shot came from and saw her opponent. It was the deadly bounty hunter Cad Bane. "Bane. I see you have survived the war after all. Why have you decided to attack me?"
"You are worth a lot of money to me child. The reward I get from handing over you’re cold corpse will make me very rich."
"You won't get the chance to kill me Bane and I'm not a child anymore!!!" she yelled at him. With that said she withdrew her shoto and gained a defensive stance. "We shall see about that little lady. Let’s see how long you can hold off for." Bane then fired a barrage after a barrage of lasers at her as he flew in the air with his jet pack. Ahsoka parried every single one that came her way but there were just too many. If she didn't change her tactics the sheer number of shots would kill her. Using a nearly pole as cover she crept behind it and waited for Bane to come closer. Seizing the chance she pulled Bane up with the Force and slammed him on the ground causing his jet pack to detach and fly off into a building and explode. Bane started to get up still stunned from the sudden Force push. Before he could fire his blasters again Ahsoka cut them in two making them useless. Ducking her blows he whipped out a lightsaber of his own and activated it in front of her. Where did you get that?" Ahsoka asked, analysing the Sapphire beam of energy in Bane's hands.
"This is one of the many lightsabers that I recovered from the burning hallways of your precious Jedi Temple. The others I sold to other fellow criminals for the right price. I kept this one for a reason. This is the lightsaber of Coleman Kcaj, one of your dead Council member friends." A grin emerged on Bane's face as he spoke those words.
"You will pay for disrespecting the dead masters of the Jedi Order." With those words a fierce lightsaber duel commenced between the two. Bane slashed at Tano with powerful strokes but she easily parried all the attacks and attacked him back. Bane fell back under Tano's intense blows. Seeing an opportunity of attack he fired a cable at her which bound her feet and knocked hew over. In the time it took Ahsoka to cut herself free Bane was attacking her once again. For a non force-user his lightsaber skills were fairly decent but he was still no match for a Jedi.
The duel continued down one of the streets with both Jedi and hunter trading blows. Ahsoka crossed her sabers just in time to parry an attack from Bane. With his saber in a lock she kicked him in the stomach causing him to fall onto the floor and drop the blade. Before the fierce bounty hunter could regain his weapon Ahsoka called it to her hand with the Force and clipped it onto her belt before aiming one of her own blades at him as a sign of victory. "You shouldn't be using a lightsaber to start with, Bane. Now what do I do with you? You are skilled so you may be able to help me. What do you say?"
“I’ll help you, but only for the right price Jedi."
Ahsoka looked at Bane's greedy smirk with disgust. "Fine. You'll get paid if you can prove your loyalty to me. You hate the Empire just as much as I do so I'm sure you'll agree?"
"I will join you as I do want revenge for being locked up in those foul Imperial jails for 3 years."
"Great then let's get going in finding my contact then" Ahsoka said with a determined look on her face. "You don't happen to know where the Cantina on this map is located?" she asked while showing Bane a holo map.
Bane looked at her with a smile. "As a matter of fact I do. That's the same cantina that I go to whenever I'm on a break from my hunts here on Coruscant. Some of the worst criminals go in there. Not sure if it's a place for a lovely female Jedi as yourself."
"Excuse me. Who are you talking to? I'm pretty sure I just single handily defeated you out there a few minutes ago. I'm positive that I can take care of myself thank you".
With that said Cade Bane and Ahsoka Tano began their journey to the underworld Cantina where they would meet Ahsoka's mysterious contact for help.
