Zachary watched her move around to sit beside him. “Feels like being famous just because you’re famous doesn’t make sense.” But he knew what she meant. “Kinda like what?” he asked. “Famous for famous sake or just dumb and a bimbo? Because you know, we were all young and stupid once,” he pointed out teasingly. “Well, they’re your sisters. You should understand them at least a little. Same blood and all of that.”

“They will eventually. Someone will get bored or someone will get tired of trying to figure things out and leave the triangle, and it’ll definitely either be Jacob or Nick, unless Ariel makes a decision, but even men won’t hold on forever.”

Katherine gave Zachary a look, “What? You think I ever in a dumb and bimbo state in my life?” she raised her eyebrow, well, she did make a lot of bad choices in her life when she was younger. “I think the right words are, I don’t even want to try to understand what they’re doing,” she laughed. Katherine shrugged her shoulders, “I hope the three of them can just figure it out sooner than later and no one really gets hurt, you know? If it were up to me of course I want her to be with your brother, but then again, Nick does has his charm...” Katherine said before she finished her drink, “Ready to go?” she asked.

After few days considering the offer, Katherine finally decided to take the job, she figured it was just a short cameo and it was just for fun, and not to mention she was playing sort of herself and it can promote Sable Blanc in the show. With the shoot happening in New York, she had to leave for few days. After texting Zachary telling him that she just finished her take for the day, she was ready to go back to her hotel room when one of the co-star from the show offered her to get some dinner together. As they walked towards the restaurant together, laughing at some joke he said, none of them realized the paparazzo taking their pictures until Katherine woke up the next day to many messages about their picture of walking down the street together, or some snaps of them standing together or share a meal together for the last week ended up on the internet, headlining some gossip blogs all over instagram. “Oh great...” she muttered as she read one of the headlines, ‘Timothy Ascott spotted several times this week with designer and fashionista Katherine White in New York. Does this mean an end to Katherine’s marriage?’, wondering if Zach even sees it yet, or if he’s bothered by it.

“I’ll be home at a more reasonable hour,” he said with a nod. “At least a few times a week. Fridays and Saturdays are still pretty hectic days,” he told her. “But every other day, I can definitely try for a more reasonable hour, yeah?” He raised an eyebrow as she evaluated two of them. He had no idea who each of the individual Kardashians were, so at least he could be proud of himself for that fact. “Yeah, no idea which ones they are, but they all seem like scam artists, if you ask me. They’re famous for no reason at all, and they only even manage to be successful at business because they have name recognition. Scam,” he concluded. “Why would your sister have a crush on him and then proceed to set him up on dates? No, that doesn’t make sense,” he said and shook his head. “Yeah, well, it’s his problem, anyway. Guess we’ll have to wait and see how things go with him and Ariel.” He shrugged. “Your family wasn’t thrilled with you being with me. Besides, you know her, I’m sure she’s being smart about it, and if he’s changed, good for him, if not, she’ll figure it out soon enough.”

Katherine smiled and nod her head before she picked her glass and moved to sit next to him instead so she could kiss him easier, “That’ll be great,” she said, resting her chin on his shoulder for a bit. Katherine laughed, “Well, they’re what people in the bizz called being famous just because of being famous, like there are no other reason,” she paused, “I was kinda’ like that when I was young, not really proud of it though and at least it wasn’t the age of social media yet,” she laughed. “Who knows the reasons what anything any of my sisters do?” Kaherine shook her head, “I stopped trying to understand them,” she laughed. “I hope they figure out whatever love triangle they have or something, I mean I think your brother and Ariel would make a cute couple, but I just want Ariel to be happy, and your brother, and if it means my best friend dating my a-hole ex boyfriend and managed to make him be a better person, then I guess I’ll just be happy for her.”

“Well, you can just say so,” said Zachary as he tilted her head. “That’s the good thing about being my own manager, I don’t have to convince anyone else to adjust my schedule.” He winked at her. “I’m not proud of the fact that I know the name Kardashian, let alone the fact that I know they have a book, but it’s LA, people are always fucking talking about them. It’s fucking exhausting and pointless, because who gives a shit in the first place? They don’t even do anything of value. They just… exist,” he said as he made a face. “Yes, that’s what I told him, so least I can say I tried.” He shrugged. “I think they’re dating, but you really think that’s going to stop your sisters? Besides, they’re not exclusive, are they? She’s also seeing your ex.”

Katherine gave Zachary a look, “I’m saying it now, baby,” she emphasized at the word now, “I just wish you can be home at a more reasonable hour a little bit more,” she admitted with a little grin. A laugh escaped Katherine’s lips at Zach’s admittance of actually knowing the Kardashians, “Hmm, Kendall is a pretty okay model I guess... Can’t say the same about Kylie’s make up line though, it was a hot mess,” she commented, she did purchased some and even was sent some PR packages for her to review, so she knew. “Or maybe my sister has a crush on Jake. How weird would that be?” Katherine laughed, “Knowing my sister, they will not stop until Jake is exclusive with someone, but hey who knows? My sisters are cuckoo sometimes,” she said before rolling her eyes, “Yeah, something that I will never understand. I mean, I love that girl, but her dating Nick?” she shook her head, “But apparently he’s turning up a new leaf and trying to be a better person and all.”

“No, we most likely wouldn’t have, if that were the case,” agreed Zachary as he chewed slowly on his food. Zachary tilted his head at her suggestion of modifying the hours. “I mean, I don’t mind working until the morning hours,” he shrugged. “Or are you starting to feel a little bit lonely at night?” he teased her. “I can’t see why she wouldn’t be published. She’s smart and capable and I’ve read some pretty awful books in the past. I can’t imagine that she wouldn’t get published when there are definitely some brain dead writers who have managed it. I mean, the fucking Kardashians have a book and I have no doubt they aren’t writers, just famous. Sutton will manage to get something out there just fine,” he said confidently. “Jake’s fine as well. He’s annoyed with your sisters. Thinks they need to stop setting him up on dates,” he said. “He actually asked me if you could talk to them about that.” 

Katherine gave him a soft look before nodded, “I do,” she admitted of starting to feel a bit lonely being alone at night most nights when he’s working the long hours at the bar. “I just think it’ll be nice to have you around at night more...” Katherine continued again, she never really said anything about his working hours before. “I can’t wait to read it though,” Katherine then quickly moved back into the topic of Sutton’s book, “Although the fact that you know the Kardashians have a book amazes me so much, have you been reading my magazine again?” she laughed at the thought of it. Katherine laughed more hearing about Jake and her sisters, “Well good luck with that, I have my whole life trying to stop them doing shit, and I still haven’t had much luck doing that,” she shook her head, “Did they actually tried to set him up? I thought Jake is dating Ariel?”

“Well, it would be shitty of me to do otherwise,” he pointed out. “It’s still your life, even if we share our lives, but you still should be able to make the choices that you want. I’m not about to start controlling it.” He looked as they had been brought their food. He picked up the burger and took a large bite from it as she said she would think on it a bit more after she had the actual meeting. “You mean I cut my hours that I work?” he asked. “I don’t know.” Zachary had never been great with chance. “Sutton is fine. She’s getting along there. Yeah, least as far as I know she’s still working with him. She has definitely not said otherwise.”

“I know, but I mean, I still appreciates it anyway,” Katherine smiled softly to him, “Beside I don’t think we’ll even get married if you don’t support me and my job,” she admitted with a laugh. Katherine started to eat her food as well and shook her head to respond his question, “No, not cutting the hours that you work,” she explained, “I just meant that maybe by extending the service hour for the bar, for lunch hour, maybe some days, not like everyday, but some days, you don’t have to work until 3 or 4 in the morning,” she continued. “I can’t wait to read her book though, I hope she really get published,” Katherine said while continued eating, “And I still find it funny that she’s seeing my brother’s friend of all people,” she laughed. “Anyway, how’s Jake doing? We should call him to our place for dinner or something sometimes,” Katherine suggested.

“Well, now you know. If you want it, then I say take it. It’s up to you, babe. I know you want to keep our lives private, but I’m already good at that. It’s not like I put myself out there much and I don’t use social media, so no skin off my nose,” he shrugged. He had learned to deal with what exposure he did get by being associated with her. “If you don’t want to take it, then that’s fine, too.” Zachary felt this was definitely a decision that she needed to make.

“I know what you meant. I’m serious, though, it’s fine. Like I said, people get drunk, they get rowdy and fight. Financially? It’s fine as well,” he said. “People will always want to have places they can drink and get drunk in. We’re not about to go out of business any time soon. Plus, we might be one of the few places in Los Angeles that still has a normal menu with burgers, fries, and food like that– none of that weird healthy, vegan shit.”

Katherine smiled and leaned to kiss him quick, “You know, I’m very grateful that even though you may not like what my job sometimes entails and how it might affected our lives, you still support me for it,” she told him, she didn’t think she ever told him that. “I’ll think about it some more tomorrow after the meeting,” she said with a nod. When the waitress came and served them their food, Katherine thanked her, ready to dig into her food. “Well that’s good to hear, maybe you guys can even open longer hours, serving food only during lunch hour, and maybe you can have a somewhat healthier working hour,” she suggested, “How’s Sutton though? She’s doing okay? Still working with Cillian?”

“Well, no, I’m not particularly happy about being forced into a spotlight I didn’t choose,” admitted Zachary. “But I’ve decided to take the ‘fuck them’ approach to this. I mean plenty of people in the public eye are married and keep their lives private, right? I flip the paparazzi off enough times, well, they’ll get bored eventually,” he shrugged. “Seems best, yeah. Take it a day at a time.”

“It’s a bar. People get drunk, and get rowdy, I get to yell at them when they get rowdy and kick them out when fights start. It’s really the kind of work I was always meant to be doing.”

“Exactly. I know how I feel about it, so I figured I heard your take on the offer, see what do you think about it,” Katherine explained why she asked him in the first place. “Yeah and I kinda’ want to keep our lives private, and as I told you, the fame is tiring, especially now, I feel like maybe now I can afford to slowly pulling away from the spotlight and live our life in obscurity,” Katherine told Zachary, and to be honest she had been thinking about it even before they got married, but even so now that they’re married, she’s been thinking about stop modelling and just focus on writing and her clothing brand. 

“I know that,” she rolled her eyes at Zach, “I mean how is it doing?” she asked, “Maybe I should just stopped modelling and just become a bartender at your bar,” she joked, “I was pretty good at it. Remember that one time I temporarily subbed for you when you were in the hospital?”

“Well, I don’t think doing a one off equates to a career change,” said Zachary as he tilted his head. “Well, I mean you brought it up in the sense that you asked me what I thought about it, not just that you were letting me know you were going on some sort of business trip, you know?” he explained. “Well, I think if you’re not really excited by it, there’s no point, you know? It’s just wasting your time if you do it for the sake of doing it.” He looked up as the waiter came back with their drinks, he nodded his thanks and picked up the glass of beer he had been brought to take a sip.

“Well yeah, I am sort of asking what do you think about it,” Katherine nodded, “I mean you’re the one who’s affected the most by what I do and who I am, and I know you’re not always happy with the fact that some part of our life will always be under a spotlight,” she continued. Katherine shrugged her shoulders, “I guess I’ll just see how the meeting goes tomorrow,” she decided, after all she hadn’t really made up her mind one way or another. 

“So how’s the bar?” Katherine asked Zachary after taking a sip of her drink. Ever since they got married, she hadn’t had the chance to visit the bar, she probably should swing by soon.

“I don’t think anyone is expecting you to become an actress. You already have your career and a busy schedule,” said Zachary with a small nod of his head. “Certainly not me. Just was wondering if you were going to go for it or not. After all, you brought it up to me, you know?” he reminded her. “Maybe you can see how involved you have to be before you can take it. Don’t people usually get to read scripts or see what they have to do before they agree?” he suggested. “If you’re standing around a lot, why not? If you have a lot of lines, then you can always back out.” Once Kat ordered her food, he put his own order in for a burger, fries and a beer.

“I was just saying, I have no intention of changing career right now,” Katherine told him, after all she’s quite happy with what she do right now, with her clothing brand that’s starting to become more popular and her ever-growing fashion blog that she tried to convert into supporting local brands more than big brands. “Of course I brought it up to you, you’re my husband, it’ll be really funny if I suddenly appear on tv before talking to you,” she laughed. “My agent said she’ll send me the script before the meeting, but...” she shrugged her shoulders, “I think it’s interesting, but I don’t know if I’m that interested with the offer, so I’m still not sure,” Katherine explained what she felt about the offer as they waited for their food.

Zachary nodded. He didn’t say anything as they entered the diner and where able to be seated at a small booth by a window. They were quickly handed menus and Zachary picked it up to look over the options. “So, think you’ll turn this job down, then?” he asked picking up the conversation where they left off as if there hadn’t been a pause, still looking at the menu option. 

“I don’t know...” Katherine answered honestly, because she really couldn’t decide at the moment, “Maybe I’ll try this once, to see how it is, and then that’s it, I’m not going to suddenly become and actress or anything, it’s not for me,” she shook her head again as they sat down in the diner and start perusing the menu. She decided what she want not long after and ordered herself a waffle with a side of bacon and egg.

“I don’t know. Fame has kind of been your life,” said Zachary with a small shrug. “I mean, you were born into wealth and with that wealth came name recognition. I guess yeah, the limelight is tiring, but you’ve always handled it well,” he said. He probably shouldn’t have been so surprised. “Alright, let’s go, diner,” he said as he then began to walk with more purpose towards the dinner on the corner. “Do we want to eat there or take it to go and bring it back to the apartment?”

“Exactly, it has been my life since I’m old enough to be paraded by my mom,” Katherine shrugged her shoulders, “And while this new fame sort of my own doing, I just kinda’ want to keep it contained and not... more,” she said, didn’t know whether she made any sense or not. “Let’s just eat there, I don’t think eating while being surrounded by piles of half unopened packages will be good for my mood,” she said as they made their way to the diner.

“Do you really?” asked Zachary rather surprised. It wasn’t that Katherine had never expressed a desire to maybe have a bit more of a personal life, but it still surprised him. She had always been in the limelight, after all. “Yeah, well, I can do that any time,” he said with a smile at her before nodding. “Sure, diner it is. They have burgers and things there, anyway. We can grab you waffles and a shake and I’ll see what I’m feeling like.”

“Yeah of course. Why do you sound so surprised by that?” Katherine raised her eyebrow, “Of course I want to be famous when I did the whole fashion blog thing, but it was so I can have a good online presence for Sable Blanc. Now? I don’t know, I’ve been in the limelight for most of my life, it’s just feels tiring,” she shrugged her shoulders. “You do have a pretty awesome wife after all,” she flipped her hair a little in a playful manner, “Alright, come on, my stomach is grumbling.”

“Yes, good news is they were and so was every other fucking person in the state of North Carolina,” he said. At least, it certainly felt that way with how big the guest list had been. “Aren’t you already pretty exposed?” he asked. “I mean, you’re Katherine White. You’re already pretty much out there,” he reminded her. “Yeah, suppose you will see. Go with your gut is what I say. Whatever feels like the right and most instinctive move,” he nodded. “Dunno, figured whatever comes up first and looks the most appetizing. I mean we’ve got pizza and burgers coming up here,” he pointed out. “Anything you’re craving?”

“It’s not ever other person... I just had a... big... well, huge family,” she laughed, the wedding was really a huge one, but at least they didn’t have to pay for most of them. “Let’s just say I don’t want to be known even more? I kind of want to slowly blend into obscurity,” Katherine laughed, sometimes it is tiring to have people know her most of her life, to take too much interest in her personal life. “It’ll score you more points when you brag about your amazing wife to your boy’s club though,” she joked, “Hmm, how about the diner there? I’m feeling for some waffle and milkshake suddenly,” Katherine said after thinking for a bit.

“Yeah, our initial plan was to have a small ceremony, which I know you were clearly okay with, but what about not having a ceremony? Eloping? Going to City Hall? Would you have done that if I had asked you to?” he asked her curiously. “My point is, for me it was never about the wedding or the ceremony or about any of that, just about this marriage between you and me. I would have been okay never having a wedding, and I think part of you always needed the ceremony, which is okay, too,” he added. “Some people like that and there’s no shame in that,” he pointed out. “Well, babe, you’re trying to build an empire, you’re going to need to be exposed. That’s how advertising works,” he pointed out. “Listen, if you don’t want to do it, that’s fine, but you’re already exposed. We already live in L.A.” Zachary looked down as she pulled his shirt. “Challenge accepted.”

Katherine looked at Zachary, it was sweet that he just wanted to get married to her, he didn’t care if it’s small, and he even endured the craziness that their wedding turned into. Not caring about where they were, she stopped and kissed him quickly, “I just wanted to get married to you too,” she told him, “Though I guess I would be sad if we don’t have our siblings and friends there,” she admitted. “Well yeah... I mean my brand, my clothes, I want those to be exposed and everywhere... But me? I don’t want me to be exposed that much,” she shrugged her shoulders, even more, she didn’t want herself being exposed means more spotlight to him and to their lives. “I guess I’ll see what my agent has to say tomorrow and what the offer is,” she nodded, “Oh game on baby...” Katherine grinned. “So, where are we going?” she asked him.

“Alright, but would you have been happy to just have some small ceremony? Or not a ceremony at all? To get married at City Hall and call it the end of a day?” he asked seriously. “I mean, if your mother hadn’t been involved, there still would have been a wedding of some sort, right?” he raised an eyebrow at her. “Well, if it feels weird, then you don’t have to do it. It’s all about what you want and you certainly shouldn’t ask me what I think because I also love my privacy, so you might be on your own for figuring this one out,” he said. “Yeah, well, have you see what your husband looks like naked? Because I think you may find your self control lacking.”

“I don’t know. I mean our initial plan was to get married really small. I’d still want our siblings there and some of our closest friends, but yeah, I think I’d be happy even if we have a small wedding,” Katherine said, was quite sure about it. “I’m like I enjoy what I do, but I don’t like being known by people even more than I do right now,” she laughed, “And I don’t want our life to be too exposed as well,” she shrugged her shoulders, she supposed that’s why she only take some modelling jobs for some brands she really love, but mostly she only keep doing her blogs and brand. “Oh honey,” she pulled him by his shirt, “Game on,” she grinned, “You’ll be the one who cannot control yourself,” Katherine teased Zachary.

“I know we did,” he said. “I haven’t forgotten. Besides, the actual wedding part isn’t really all that important for me, to begin with. That’s all on you, babe.” Zachary listened to her explain. “I mean, I get the concept, but even guest stars appearing on TV shows don’t usually do a whole lot,” he shrugged. “Why don’t you know? What’s making you hesitate? The fact that you don’t really have acting experience?” he asked curiously. “Oh, come on, you think you can hold out on me for so long?”

“On my mother to be exact,” Katherine sighed. She supposed it really was on her, to buckled under her mother’s manipulation once again and agreed on the big-over-the-top wedding, “At least I did get to see a lot of my old  friends from back home,” she said, choosing to take away the good part of the whole ordeal. “Mostly because I don’t know how it’ll feel like to have myself act and being watched by people. Like at least for now people know me because of the modelling and the brand, and I don’t know if I want to add acting into it. I don’t know, just feels weird,” she shrugged her shoulders. “Oh, is that a challenge I hear? I think I can hold out just fine, it’s you who might be having a trouble. I mean your wife is fucking hot,” Katherine laughed a little.
