yeah for sure but i'll need more guidelines what genre do you want and how would you define underrated bc i can give you obscure bands that aren't even on spotify or have less than 1000 montly listeners or bands that do well but just don't make it to the charts or bands that only play shows in their own local areas or bands that are going on their first ever tours. and also do you want recommendations of bands that are still active. and when you say female are you trans inclusive bc i can also give you a whole bunch of bands fronted by trans women.

I like goth music (post-punk, dark wave etc) and punk (especially riot grrrl) but also rock and indie? so it's probably still too broad.

also a majority of riot grrrl (bikini kill, early sleater kinney, bratmobile; mostly the big 3, etc,.) were writing about sexual assault and rape and sexualization and while younger girls (sleater kinney & bratmobile were TEENAGERS when they formed their bands) and because so much of their music and early activism was focused on that, i feel that's the main reason they're swept under the rug (also like. the gender and misogyny) in terms of punk bands. ohh they're not punk, they're riot grrrl, they're just grrrls; but riot grrrl was a subgenre of punk just not in the classical~ way (how subgenres usually work lmao.) i'm going off track but my point was bikini kill >>> fucking green day or whatever
