This blog is for reference sake for my project (I like keeping everything in one place). But I won't be a nerd if I'm not interested in topic (I'm no music expert, just someone who's really into it.) ! It's a sideblog of @kittyofhappiness and @strikeachord for my nerdiness and music obsession. I don't want to spam in theese ☝️.

But I desperatly needed somewhere to ramble about music and repost everything music related. Askbox is open, but it better to ask question in my main ones! (If you want to talk or to send something blog related, then go ahead!)

Main information about me here. The author (mod?) of this blog has a brain damage 😭 edit 05/18: It’s healed, but not completely, and I still don’t really know how this damage affects my everyday life besides the chronic fatigue. If I did strange shit I blame my damaged brain.)

i'm so lonely with my waterparks obsession. today i tried to figure out how I even got hooked on them… this is how my most recent spotify wrapped looks like.

"i'm sick of all this 'how'd you get your band name?'" - a waterparks band name origin story

today is july 5th, which marks the anniversary of this tweet from the waterparks account of awsten deciding on the band's name. but you may ask, haven't these accounts been made since february of that year? well yes, but also there wasn't really any band awsten had at that point and even getting to that part is a very, very long story.

awsten has been historically a liar about some of the band name origins with explanations such as:

the truth is, waterparks at its inception with its social media accounts in 2011 consisted solely of awsten and only by july of that year waterparks had members...that would not even last to their first live show.

the original members were (named from left to right):

owen marvin - drums

tyler comer - keyboards

awsten knight - lead vocals, guitar

tommy denley - guitar

gage matthieu - unclean vocals, bass

one of them was kicked out probably within the week of this being posted while one would leave but return to play bass with waterparks for live shows on occasion and only two of them would last long enough to be featured in a music video. ironically, the name that would outlast the rest of the members' time within the band came from their keyboardist who lasted roughly a couple weeks in the band and is explained during an early interview of waterparks.

can't really find any commentary from the "keyboardist" himself other than these tweets made years after the fact

mind you they definitely knew they were kicking this guy out even during the first photoshoot bc they took separate photos without him even on the same day.

hell, they even took separate photos without the guitarist at the time because that's just how this fuckin much this was barely a band than a rotation of members who wanted to be in a band for the sake of it and/or trying to bang girls or awsten by saying they were in a band.

this lineup of awsten, gage, and owen would last through at least one music video and the recording of airplane conversations before geoff and otto (as i'm typing this i'm realizing the g and o name parallels huh weird) were recruited for the band in june 2012 and that is a whole post in itself to explain but i'm sure you can tell they lasted much, much longer than anyone else awsten tried recruiting.

Ok I know this is super old now but I work at a post office and I was curious about the price so I did some digging and I still don’t have a definite answer because THE REASON it says “no shipping services available” is because all shipping services were actually suspended to Guam at the time. As in no packages, parcels, letters, or mail or any kind could be sent to Guam. So not only is it mind boggling that it got sent so far in the wrong direction of its intended destination, but because nothing should have been able to get in to Guam period.

You QUITE LITERALLY could not have sent these cookies to Guam if you tried.
